application/pdfGenerally speaking, optimists live healthy lives, achieve well-being and are well adapted in society. Some researchers, however, pointed out that optimism is not always beneficial. For instance, some sort of optimists tend not to assume occurrences of negative events, which may in turn lead to increased failures in everyday life. The purpose of this study was to understand the relationships between optimism and error proneness in everyday life. The results indicated that some aspects of optimism, including pessimism, could predict error proneness. In summary, a person who feels like having bad luck and takes a pessimistic view tended to report cognitive failures. In addition, relationships between failures in using smartphone, as a valuable of objectively measurable everyday life failure, and optimism were also found, but optimism could not predict clacked smartphone screens very well.departmental bulletin pape

[Purpose] In this study, we examined the effects of vastus medialis contraction induced by electrical stimulation on the tibial rotation angle in the unloaded position and walking stance phase. [Methods] The subjects were 5 healthy men ( age, 19.8±0.4 years; height, 171±4.7 cm; weight, 60.8±9.9 kg ). In the unloaded position, the tibial rotation angle with electrical stimulation at 30 ° knee flexion was compared. In the walking condition, electrical stimulation was performed from the terminal swing to the loading response, and the tibial rotation angle, knee varus angle, and external knee adduction moment were compared. [Result] Under the unloaded position, the contraction of the vastus medialis by electrical stimulation showed a tendency to increase the internal rotation angle of the tibia. Under walking conditions, the maximum external knee adduction moment from the initial contact to the loading response showed a tendency to decrease, and the knee varus angle during the maximum external knee adduction moment showed a tendency to decrease. [Conclusion] These results suggest that the vastus medialis has a tibial internal rotation in the unloaded position, and the vastus medialis contraction may reduce knee varus stress in the early stance phase.原著departmental bulletin pape
