This portal provides access to information on United States Geological Survey (USGS) research and resources on tsunamis and earthquakes. Materials include news and events in USGS tsunami research, an overview of the program, and basic information on the life of a tsunami. There are also links to individual research projects. The site also features an extensive set of tsunami animations of real and hypothetical events, and links to VRML models of real and hypothetical events

    Exploring the Yellowstone Geoecosystem

    No full text
The Yellowstone collection contains an assortment of digital resources relevant to the geology, geophysics, physiography, hydrology, biota and human impacts in Yellowstone National Park. Materials include a variety of media, including maps, images, virtual field trips, datasets, and technical papers. The resources are arranged according to key topics, exploration pathways that use the Earth system approach, or exploration of topical questions about the Yellowstone Geoecosystem. There is also a browsing area where users can search their own resources by subject area or type of resource

    Hall Effect Measurements

    No full text
The objective of this Web site is twofold: (1) to describe the Hall measurement technique for determining the carrier density and mobility in semiconductor materials and (2) to initiate an electronic interaction forum where workers interested in the Hall effect can exchange ideas and information. It includes an introductory description of the Hall measurement technique and covers basic principles, equipment, and recommended procedures. Keywords: Conductance, conductivity, resistance, resistivit

    Digital Circuits Open Source Textbook

    No full text
This open source book on WikiBooks will serve as an introduction to Digital Circuits. This book relies heavily on the concepts of Discrete Math, but will not require any previous knowledge of the subject because all necessary math concepts will be developed in the text. This book does assume a knowledge of basic electrical principles such as current, voltage, and resistance, so the reader may want to brush up on their Circuit Theory. The strength of digital technology in any context is fast, easy duplication with no loss of fidelity. In many media, this serves mainly to streamline distribution. While that aspect cannot be completely overlooked, some artistic endeavors, such as animation, are centered on a process of repeated duplication with systematic changes, so that digital tools often become a central part of the creative process

    Nanobliss - Nanotube Image Gallery

    No full text
Nanobliss is a gallery of visualizations of carbon nanotube and silicon structures. The dimensions of these structures range from nanometers to millimeters. The visualizations and the underlying fabrication techniques are new media for artistic expression, and for promoting popular awareness and education about nanomaterials and related technologies
