Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve
At Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve visitors can explore cinder cones, lava tubes, lava flows, and other volcanic features. Craters of the Moon is run by the National Park Service and offers a variety of educational programs for all ages as well as interpretive programs and a visitor center. Resource Chests available by mail or from area locations contain materials to help prepare pre-and post-trip lessons about the monument. These chests contain a Craters of the Moon video tape, other related videos, slide sets with scripts, maps, teachers' curriculum guides, rock specimens, and a number of other references and pamphlets. Available for download from the website are a photo glossary of volcanic terms and other geoscience educational materials, curriculum guides and resources for teachers, and information on the Jr. Ranger Program
Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution Summer Internships
HBOI summer internships with stipend are open to graduate students and undergrads with minimum 2 years of class work completed. The ten-week program pairs student with a mentor to conduct research project. Areas of study may include, but are not limited to: aquaculture, biomedical marine research, marine biology, marine mammal research, marine natural product chemistry, marine microbiology, ocean engineering, ocean technology, and oceanography. US Historical Climate: Excel Statistical

Short Tandem Repeat DNA Internet Database
This website contains comprehensive information relating to forensic DNA analysis. It has material from an introductory to an advanced level on forensic DNA technology. The material provides general information on DNA markers that are of interest to human identification. The site contains both introductory and in-depth discussions of short tandem repeats (STRs) and other DNA markers currently used by the forensic community. Powerpoint and PDF presentations on STR training material are available and can be readily downloaded
The Carbon Cycle
This Earth Observatory site contains detailed information on the carbon cycle of the Earth. It provides an explanation of the role of carbon in the geologic carbon cycle followed by a discussion of carbon in the life process, including photosynthesis and respiration. Carbon sinks on land and in the ocean are covered next, followed by the human role in the cycle. Lastly, the activity of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, (NASA), and that of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, (NOAA) in the exploration of the connection of the carbon cycle to weather and climate is covered

Wetlands - Then and Now
This instructional guide is designed to provide instructors with lecture materials and resources that describe the various ways that wetlands are classified, their current status and a historical perspective on wetlands. Trajectories and drivers of wetland loss and degradation in the United States are emphasized. Current wetland issues including the loss of mangrove wetlands and the impacts of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill are also examined. Student objectives, a general lecture outline and a more detailed PowerPoint presentation with instructor notes are provided.
