    Unraveling FOMO: Exploring the Factors Behind Fear of Missing Out among College Students

    The increasing use of social media among college students can trigger mental health problems such as FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). There are not many studies that look at the relationship between the intensity of social media use and FOMO in college students. This study aims to provide an overview of FOMO among college students and assess the factors associated with FOMO. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through an online survey filled out by 104 college students. The variables measured were respondent characteristics, duration of social media use, number of social media accounts, and FOMO scale. The results of this study showed that 73.1% of students were classified as high duration users, 77.9% had less than 10 accounts, and 43.3% had high FOMO. There was a significant relationship between age (p=0.003) and undergraduate program (p=0.001) with FOMO. This study also found the significant relationship between duration (p=0.012) and number of accounts (p=0.007) with FOMO. There was a significant relationship between age, undergraduate program, duration, and number of accounts with FOMO in undergraduate students

    Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy among Undergraduate Students in Collectivistic Contexts: A Scoping Review

    Career decision-making self-efficacy is the level of individual confidence in successfully making career decisions and is characterized by the ability to conduct self-assessments, gather information about one’s career, select goals, make plans, and solve problems. The purpose of this study is to describe career decision-making self-efficacy in students in a collectivistic culture, both in the form of internal and external factors that influence each other, so that it has an impact on a person’s career decision-making self-efficacy. This research method used the scoping review method. A systematic review was conducted with online databases, namely, Scopus, Springer, EBSCO, ProQuest, and Emerald Insight, using predetermined keywords. Then, the articles were filtered based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 7 articles met the eligibility criteria for analysis and were published between 2013 and 2023. The findings of this study indicate that in a collectivistic culture, family influence and support affect the formation of internal factors in the form of emotional regulation both adaptively and maladaptively. Family influence and support also influence career adaptation, self-awareness, career search skills, campus life adaptation, academic satisfaction, work experience, personality, future perspectives, and self-competence, and these factors lead to high career decision-making self-efficacy

    Mental Health and Older Adults: A Narrative Synthesis of the Literature

    The older adult population has been a growing concern in the global context calling for attention to aging processes, supportive measures and health care policies. In the Philippines, the population of older people is accumulating swiftly with a faster growth compared to the total population of the country. Thus, this calls for a closer attention on the overall wellness and the mental health of older adults that are more crucial in comparison to other ages in one’s lifetime. Generating a database search strategy for the last 10 years focused on the mental health of older adults, retrieved articles from APA PsycNet, ProQuest, SAGE, EBSCOHost and PubMed Central electronic databases were synthesized guided by the set inclusion and exclusion criteria and utilizing the PRISMA flowchart of the record selection process. This narrative synthesis rendered the Mental Health Orientations of Older Adults to illustrate an integrated framework to understand mental health and older adults.The findings of this research synthesized a portrait on how older adults give credence to their mental health in various concerns and needs which they directly and indirectly experience. These will be valuable in considering age-specific mental health needs aligned with the three orientations considering Philippine law provisions on mental health (RA11036 or the Mental Health Act) and on senior citizens (RA9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizen Act) in the continuing aim of providing access for mental health services and integrated mental health promotion strategies for the older adult population

    Fear of failure and Entrepreneurial intentions in University Students

    This study aimed to investigate the relationship between fear of failure and entrepreneurial intentions in students. The Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) was used to assess entrepreneurial intention, while the Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI) was employed to evaluate the fear of failure. The study involved 288 students from various regions in Indonesia, and accidental sampling was used as the sampling technique. The analysis, using the Spearman-Rho correlation test, revealed a negative correlation between fear of failure and entrepreneurial intention (p = 0.033 (p < 0.05)), indicating that higher levels of fear of failure were associated with lower entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, the analysis showed that specific aspects of fear of failure, such as fear of shame and embarrassment (p = 0.016), fear of devaluing one's self-estimate (p = 0.002), and fear of having an uncertain future (p = 0.031) were significantly negatively correlated with entrepreneurial intentions. However, the fear of important others losing interest and the fear of upsetting important others showed no correlation with entrepreneurial intention. Additional analysis revealed no significant differences in entrepreneurial intention based on age and gender, but a significant difference was observed based on domicile. Fear of failure also did not show significant differences based on the age, gender, and domicile of the respondents

    The Role of Emotional Regulation and Self-Efficacy toward Students' Academic Resilience

    Academic pressures lead students to experience stress and lack of adaptability. One of the issues is the lack of academic resilience, influenced by emotional regulation and self-efficacy. This research aims to depict the behaviors of academic resilience, emotional regulation, and selfefficacy among students of MTsN 4 Kota Padang, as well as their correlations. Conducted with a quantitative approach and descriptive correlational method involving 271 muslim students. Results indicate that emotional regulation and self-efficacy are at a moderate level, as well as academic resilience. There is a significant relationship between emotional regulation, self-efficacy, and academic resilience.     Improving the Generation Z’s Self-Esteem and Decreasing their Mental Issues by Creative Expression Art Therapy

    This research focuses on adolescents with mental health issues such as stress and anxiety. Stress is described as general daily pressure that affects daily behavior, while anxiety is defined as excessive worry about future events. Both stress and anxiety are closely associated with low self-esteem, which refers to an individual's perception and evaluation of their ability to face and solve problems. Various interventions can enhance self-esteem, with art therapy being particularly effective for adolescents. In this study, the State Self-Esteem Scale (SSES) was used to measure self-esteem, and the DASS-21 was used to assess stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms. Five female participants completed the intervention, which consisted of eight sessions conducted over five days. This research utilized a quasi-experimental pre- and post-test method. The intervention results showed a significant increase in global self-esteem scores, as well as changes in stress, anxiety, and depression level

    The Effect of Growth Mindset and Grit on Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy in Fresh Graduates

    Indonesia is experiencing significant economic growth and industrial development. The role of fresh graduates in shaping and supporting this growth is crucial. However, unemployment remains a challenge, with 7.86 million people unemployed as of August 2023, and approximately 12% of them being bachelor’s and diploma graduates. The limited availability of jobs cannot keep pace with the growing number of job seekers, which increases with population growth each year. Students who possess a growth mindset, high levels of grit, and strong self-efficacy tend to achieve better learning outcomes, as these traits encourage continuous self-improvement and skill development. Consequently, researchers believe that a growth mindset and grit can significantly influence career decision-making self-efficacy, particularly among fresh graduates. This study employed a quantitative research approach with a correlational design. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling. The sample size was determined using G*Power software, resulting in a minimum sample of 472 respondents. Three adapted measuring instruments were used in the study. The results indicate that growth mindset and grit positively impact career decision self-efficacy by 22.5%, while 77.5% is influenced by other factors. These findings confirm that growth mindset and grit play a significant role in career decision self-efficacy

    Authentic Happiness in Marriage: How Do Effective Communication and Positive Emotional Support Contribute?

    In today’s marriages, a common issue is the lack of effective communication and positive emotional support, which can lead to divorce and impact authentic marital happiness. This study aims to explore the relationship between effective communication, positive emotional support, and authentic happiness in marriage. A total of 72 couples participated in this research, selected through purposive sampling. Criteria included a marriage duration of no more than 5 years and an age range of 19-40 years for partners, aligning with early adulthood developmental theory. Data were analyzed descriptively, followed by prerequisite analysis and hypothesis testing using regression analysis. The results indicate a significant relationship between effective communication, positive emotional support, and authentic marital happiness. These findings have practical implications for premarital counseling and guidance programs, offering a reference for counselors to inform couples about the importance of effective communication and positive emotional support.

    Young People Hopes for The Future after Digital Disruptions and the Covid-19 Pandemic

    The uncertainty caused by disruptions, exacerbated by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, has influenced how young people perceive their future. This research aimed to explore young people's hopes for the future through a qualitative, phenomenological approach, involving 390 participants aged 18-25 years. Data were collected via a survey with open-ended questions and interviews, and analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings revealed that young people's hopes center around three key factors: personal factors such as career success, education, selfdevelopment, emotional and material well-being, and leisure; interpersonal relationship factors, mainly focused on family; and broader environmental factors, including social concerns and global development. To support young people in navigating future uncertainties, it is recommended to enhance educational and career guidance programs to build resilience, strengthen mental health support, foster community engagement, and promote global awareness initiatives that empower young adults to address social and environmental challenges
