The study was an attempt to determine how social cohesion is maintained in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as perceived by frontliners in the local government units in CALABARZON. It also looked into the challenges that local government units faced in achieving social and economic development and provides baseline data on how policies on social cohesion are integrated with their efforts to respond to the pandemic. The study employed the descriptive evaluative in the study in assessing and describing how social cohesion is maintained in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as perceived by frontliners in the local government units in CALABARZON. Convenience sampling was used in the selection of the frontliners in the local and provincial levels of the local government units of CALABARZON who have direct engagement and involvement in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey was used using the Modified Social Cohesion Integration Diagnostics Tool (SCIDAT, 2017). Data were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages and reflective thematic analysis in examining themes or patterns of meaning within the data. Reflective thematic analysis was used in support of the validation of the written responses on the challenges that local government units faced in achieving social and economic development and provides baseline data on how policies on social cohesion are integrated with their efforts to respond to the pandemic.   Ethical considerations were observed all throughout the duration of the research. Consent of the participants was sought prior to any conduct of survey or any participation in phase of the research. Likewise, the study maintained the confidentiality of the data and information obtained from the participants and adhered also to the provisions in the data privacy law.Majority of the frontliners in the LGUs witnessed the integration of social cohesion in this time of COVID-19 pandemic to a limited extent but they recognized the opportunities that arise from having a supportive and adaptive region to the changing economic, health, environmental, and social challenges. For social cohesion integration to exist in this time of COVID-19 pandemic, the national government has to work hand-in-hand with the local and provincial LGUs towards a clear and recognizable elements and dynamics of a stronger social cohesion within the level of individual, community and institution. Fostering social cohesion in the region means creating societies where people have the opportunity to live together with all their differences, and, on the other hand, the way to approach unity and diversity. Social cohesion could also be built through having a pool of government leaders and personnel in the LGUs who are capable of building cooperation and networks and recognize everyone’s security and safety that involves the whole-of-nation approach, focusing on internal stability, capability and preparedness against pandemic

Owing to its climate diversity and abundant natural resources, the Mediterranean basin is considered one the greatest areas for agricultural activities. Although, the Mediterranean agriculture plays an important role in the economic development of several countries by providing food and raw material for industrialization, it confronts a number of issues amongst them, water scarcity that has been increasing as a results of climate change affecting the seasonal fluctuation of rainfalls, and  anthropogenic impact delineated by overexploitation and pollution. Accordingly, targeting the most efficient water use is crucial to sustain economically important irrigated crops under the mentioned circumstances. In this paper, we tried to ensure an optimal and sustainable productivity for farmers by analysing different scenarios in order to achieve the most suitable decision that fulfils the desired goals in terms of efficient water use. This analysis is performed with the software GAMS (General Algebraic Modeling System), which is a static and non-linear optimization model. It allows from intergrating different data to reach a maximizing farmer’s utility that gives the optimal cropping pattern close to the real one. Considering several possible constraints and by using an optimisation software (GAMS), we obtained the optimal cropping pattern giving the maximum profit to the farmers within the study area of Sant’ Arcangelo

The purpose of this study is to identify perspectives of the graduate students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines taking Master’s in Public Administration on E-learning during the Coronavirus pandemic so that the E-learning system can be improved and strengthened. This study followed the constructivist learning theory in which learners evaluate and encode Information based on their perceptions and experiences. Descriptive-quantitative is used in this study to describe general or specific behaviors and attributes observed and measured.  This study has made used of a researcher’s made survey questionnaire to elicit student respondents’ demographic characteristics and their perceptions on online teaching and learning. The results revealed that respondents occasionally encountered difficulties while courses were conducted online. This order of problems that arise in online learning changes the framework of the crisis caused by the pandemic. Dropping signals during videoconferences are followed by the teacher’s lack of technical skills and their teaching style inappropriately tailored to the online situation. However, they rated a positive impact on the ability to learn and Integrate Information in the framework of solely online learning.  Moreover, the respondents concluded that different platforms available for teaching online were useful. Based on these findings, the researchers recommended addressing the technical problems encountered during the online class. Moreover, proper training for teachers must be considered to meet the skills needed in the conduct of the online class

This paper aims at analyzing the issue of feminism about women's bodies, self-identification, and self-conscious through the resistance of the female protagonist against patriarchal, religious, and political constraints in light of Rabih Alameddine's Novel "An Unnecessary Woman" (2014)  in which the fallacious practices towards women and their sexuality in the patriarchal society are presented. The theoretical framework of this study is based on Fairclough (1989) CDA Model. To achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher divided the paper into three parts. The first part discussed the concept of feminism and the status of Arab women in the postmodern or 21st century, particularly during the Civil war of Lebanon (1975). The second part illustrated Alameddine’s concept of feminism and the social milieu, which influences his writings; and the third part reflected the sarcastic tone employed by Alameddine to address the patriarchal practices and social concerns of males and females of the 21st century. In Alameddine's society, females are almost treated as submissive sexual objects, and inferior voices are disjointed and fragmented in entirely a patriarchal society

The availability of forest products determines the possibilities for forest-based livelihood options. Plantation forest is a widespread economic activity in highland areas of Amhara regional state, owing primarily to degradation and limited access to natural forests. As a result, tree plantation becomes one of the rural livelihood options in the area. Given the increasing importance of smallholder plantation in highland areas of Amhara Regional States, therefore, the aim of this research was to evaluate the extent of smallholder plantation and its socio-economic impact. To address the above-mentioned research a sequential embedded mixed research designs where employed. These qualitative and quantitative data were collected from both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were collected from 385 sample households determined based on Cochran sample size formula and selected via a three stage-multi-stage sampling method. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Smallholder eucalyptus plantation in the study area was discovered to be a common practice, and it is now part of the livelihood portfolio for meeting both household wood consumption and generating cash income. According to the PSM model's ATT results show that income from selling farm forest products certainly contributes more to household total income, farm expenditure per cultivated land, and education spending than non-planter households.  As a result, the government must strengthen plantation practices by prioritizing specific intervention areas while implementing measures to counteract the plantation's inequality-increasing effect through a variety of means, including progressive taxation
