    Abstract: Concrete is a brittle building material due to its weakness against tension force, in other words, concrete has low ductility. For overcoming this weakness, it uses steel material as reinforcement in longitudinal, tranversal or bridling directions. This research is aimed to investigate the impact of bridling in compression path of concrete against bending capacity and ductility of normal quality concrete with weak reinforcement. Four concrete beams in size of 200x300x3000 mm with two types of bridling; traditionally and in Kotsovos’ compression path, are tested. The result shows that two beams with Kostovos bridling have bigger bending capacity of 11.27% than those with traditional bridling. However, all four beams have same ductility behaviour

    STUDI SIMULASI MODEL PENERANGAN ALAMI (DAYLIGHTING) RUANG PADA BANGUNAN FASILITAS PENDIDIKAN TINGGI DENGAN SUPERLITE 2.0

    Daylight was the only efficient source of light available for building. Therefore, architecture was dominated by the goal of creating openings large enough to distribute daylight to building interiors. It is important to understand the amount of natural light penetration when outdoor obstruction are displaced in order to propose optimum external shading strategies as design solutions. This paper presents a study of the daylight factor and daylight contourt approaches and also investigates the effect of outdoor obstruction displacement on natural-light penetration of a specific room in higher-education building facility. The interior daylight illuminance data were simulated and analyzed using Superlite 2.0. The result shows that several effects of the external obstruction displacement as shading provider, depending on transmitted natural-light penetration, which determine the better consideration option in designing landscape surround building, especially in hot humid climates.Sinar matahari merupakan sumber penerangan yang efisien bagi bangunan. Tujuan utama dalam arsitektur adalah merancang bukaan pencahayaan yang cukup besar bagi bangunan untuk mendistribusikan cahaya ke bagian dalam bangunan. Sangat penting untuk mengetahui besar penetrasi penerangan alami yang masuk ke dalam ruang bila di luar bangunan diletakkan suatu halangan sebagai salah satu solusi disain dengan mengoptimalkan strategi perancangan pem­bayangan lingkungan. Makalah ini membahas tentang kajian pendekatan faktor penerangan alami (daylight factor) dan koefisien penerangan alami, serta mengamati pengaruh perletakan halangan lingkungan terhadap penetrasi penerangan alami suatu ruang fasilitas pendidikan tinggi. Data illuminasi penerangan interior disimulasikan dan dianalisa menggunakan software Superlite 2.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beberapa pengaruh perletakan halangan lingkungan sebagai elemen pembayangan lingkungan berkaitan dengan penetrasi cahaya alami, yang memberikan alternatif terbaik bagi perancangan lansekap di sekeliling bangunan, khususnya  di iklim tropis lembab

    Abstract: Taxi is a unique public transportation, because it has no certain route in its operation. Taxi also offers the service that similar with private vehicles. This research is aimed to identify the characteristics of taxi users and its selection model in Malang region. Descriptive-quantitative analysis and multiple regression analysis are used as data analysis method. The results shows that  55% of taxi users in Malang are female, 51% in age range of 16-25 years old, 56% are undergraduate degree holders, 39% are students, 37% have salary range of more than Rp 500,000.00, 54% are permanent residences, 43% have at least one private vehicle, 45% have bus or train station as taxi base, 38% use taxi to get home, 57% use taxi at least once a month, 31% use taxi in distance range of 5-10 km, 50% use taxi charge as bargained-package, 48% are Rp 15,000.00 – Rp 20,000.00 of fare, and 45%  use taxi as a rapid transport. The model of first choice of mode is represented as: U(Tk – Al)= -0.507 - 0.0667*T - 0.00282*C   (R2= 0.904) and the second as: U(Tk – Al) = - 0.508 – 0.0691*T   (R2= 0.904)

    ASIDOLISIS ENZIMATIK FRAKSI TENGAH MINYAK SAWIT DENGAN ASAM STEARAT UNTUK SINTESIS COCOA BUTTER EQUIVALENTS

    Enzymatic acidolysis of palm midfraction (PMF) with stearic acid for the synthesis of cocoa butter equivalents (CBE). CBE have chemical and physical pro­per­ties compatible with those of cocoa butter (CB) and can be used to replace CB in chocolate confectionery product formulation. The main analysis were triacylglycerol (TAG) composition, solid fat content (SFC) and slip melting point (SMP). Enzymatic acidolysis of the substrates resulted in the formation of a complex mixture of acylgly­ce­rols and free fatty acids. Concentration of several TAG were increased, some were decreased, and several new TAGs were formed. Synthesis of target TAG (POS, SOS) increased with increasing proportion of stearic acid to 5:4 weight ratio in the subs­trates. The resulting changes in the TAG composition of the substrates were reflected in the SFC profiles and SMP values. The SFC values could be predicted from the proportion of MMM, StStM and StStD TAG groups, either single or combined.Asidolisis Enzimatik Fraksi Tengah Minyak Sawit dengan Asam Stearat untuk Sintesis Cocoa Butter Equivalents (CBE). CBE mempunyai sifat-sifat kimia dan fisik yang kompatibel dengan cocoa butter (CB) dan dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti CB dalam formu­lasi produk cokelat confectionery. Analisis utama meliputi komposisi triasilgliserol (TAG), solid fat content (SFC) dan slip melting point (SMP). Asidolisis enzimatik dari substrat menghasilkan terbentuknya campuran kompleks asilgliserol dan asam lemak bebas (ALB). Konsentrasi beberapa TAG meningkat, beberapa menurun dan beberapa TAG baru terbentuk. Sintesis TAG target (POS, SOS) meningkat dengan meningkatnya proporsi asam stearat sampai rasio berat 5:4 dalam substrat. Perubahan dalam komposisi TAG substrat tercermin pada profil SFC dan nilai SMP. Nilai SFC dapat diprediksi dari proporsi kelompok TAG MMM, StStM dan StStD, secara tunggal atau gabungan

    PENGARUH RASIO BAMBU PETUNG DAN KAYU SENGON TERHADAP KAPASITAS TEKAN KOLOM LAMINASI

    The effect of the ratio between the petung bamboo and the sengon wood to the pressure capacity of lamination column made from the petung bamboo and the sengon wood. The usage of the petung bamboo and the sengon wood is not optimal yet. Lamination engineering of the petung bamboo and the sengon wood is an alternative to overcome the under supply of wood. The objective of this research is to compare the pressure capacity of the column made from the petung bamboo and the sengon wood for any ratio. The result shows that the lamination column consist of the 1:1 ratio of the petung bamboo and the sengon wood has pressure capacity higher than the pressure capacity of the lamination column made of the petung bambbo and the sengon wood with ratio of 1:3. The same results are obtained at any column length. The lamination column that consist of 3:1 ratio of the petung bamboo and the sengon wood has pressure capacity lower than the lamination column with ratio of 1:1 except for shorter column.Pemanfaatan bambu petung dan kayu sengon belum optimal. Rekayasa laminasi antara bambu petung dan kayu sengon merupakan salah satu alternatif mengatasi kekurangan pasokan kayu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membandingkan nilai kapasitas tekan kolom laminasi bambu petung dan kayu sengon untuk setiap variasi rasio. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kolom laminasi dengan rasio bambu petung terhadap kayu sengon 1 : 1 memiliki kapasitas tekan lebih tinggi dari kolom laminasi dengan rasio bambu petung terhadap kayu sengon 1 : 3, berlaku untuk seluruh variasi panjang kolom. Kolom laminasi dengan rasio bambu petung dan kayu sengon 3 : 1  memiliki kapasitas tekan lebih rendah dari kolom laminasi dengan rasio bambu petung terhadap kayu sengon 1 : 1 kecuali untuk kolom dengan ukuran pendek

    Rainwater harvesting is the alternatif of  water resources management in the city. Rainwater harvesting is the method of collecting rainwater run-off from a catchment area for use as a water supply. It can be collected from a rooftop of building or runoff water. As one of water resources, rainwater can be used to overcome water supply, to reduce volume of runoff water and also to recharge into groundwater table particularly in the urban area. Currently, increasing of population in the city has en­vi­ronment consequence for decreasing of groundwater table because it use excessively and declining of strormwater infiltration into the soil. It gives negative impacts such as groundwater scarce and flood. Therefore, the application of rainwater harvesting in the urban area is the proper way to minimize environmental impact. The application of this method will reduce water supply from PDAM or groundwater and the excess of stromwater can be infiltrated into the soil for groundwater table recharging.Pemanenan air hujan (PAH) merupakan cara yang digunakan untuk me­ngumpulkan dan menyimpan air hujan dari atap rumah, atap gedung atau di per­muka­an tanah pada saat hujan. Sebagai salah satu sumber air bersih, pemanfaatan air hujan dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan kelangkaan air bersih, mengurangi volume air limpasan hujan dan mengisi kembali air tanah terutama di perkotaan. Pesatnya pertumbuhan penduduk di perkotaan memicu konsekuensi bahwa terjadi penurunan debit air tanah karena konsumsi yang berlebihan yang diperparah dengan pengurangan lahan tangkapan air hujan karena banyak lahan terbuka di konversi menjadi areal bangunan.Hal ini akan memicu terjadinya kelangkaan air tanah dan sekaligus memicu terjadinya banjir. PAH merupakan salah satu alternatife untuk mengurangi terjadinya hal tersebut. Dengan cara ini suplai air bersih dari PDAM maupun dari air tanah dapat dihemat dan kelebihan airnya dapat diresapkan di sumur resapan sehingga dapat membantu pengisian kembali air tanah

    Abstract: The Impact of Stated Vision, Mission, and Human Resources Peformance on Quality Management of Housing Construction. This research was aimed to investigate the impact of stated vision, mission and human resources performance on three aspects of housing construction: (1) the program of quality control and assurance, and (2) the implementation of program of quality control and assurance, and (3) the overall program of quality management. The method used is explanatory research, in which the sample including the director, technical manager, finance manager, site manager, and field supervisor at 16 companies are gathered by purposive random sampling. The result shows that there is significant impact of company’s vision, mission, and human resources performance on (1) the program of quality control and assurance in F (0.000) < 0.05 and R2 = 0.764; (2) the implementation of program of quality control and assurance in F (0.000) < 0.05 and R2 = 0.849; and (3) the overall program of quality management in F (0.000) < 0.05 and R2 = 0.859

    Curicullum change: reflection and challenge for civil engineering de­part­ment in developing curicullum. Generally curriculum programs are developed periodically by educational institutions. The reason for the curriculum change is the needs for relevance to redefining educational program. The expectation of the curriculum change and development is contribution toward better generic curriculum outcome improvement. Such expectations create new challenge for persons within institution and related system. The educational staffs to managerial persons are needed to think and involve in process curriculum change and curriculum imple­mentation. The Number of education staff, supporting staff and management leader may have insufficient experience in developing curricullum. This paper is purposed to explore key aspects of theoretical framework of curriculum change for reflection for staffs within Civil Engineering.Perubahan Kurikulum: Refleksi dan Tantangan bagi Jurusan Teknik Sipil dalam Pengembangan Kurikulum. Pengembangan kurikulum umumnya dilakukan secara periodik oleh lem­baga pendidikan. Alasan pengembangan kurikulum dapat berupa tuntutan kebutuhan relevansi, hingga redefinisi program pendidikan. Harapan dari pengembangan kuri­ku­lum adalah agar dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap perbaikan outcome kurikulum secara lebih generik. Namun demikian harapan seperti itu akan menciptakan tantang­an baru bagi segenap personal pelaku dan sistem terkait di institusi pendidikan ter­sebut. Para tenaga pendidik hingga personal manajemen dituntut berpikir dan terlibat dalam proses perubahan dan implementasinya. Sejumlah tenaga pendidik, staf pendukung hingga pimpinan jurusan sangat mungkin memiliki pengalaman terbatas dalam pengembangan kurikulum dan implementasinya.     Abstract: Behaviour of T-beam of bridge with steel plate as flexural strengthening. Some research about reinforced concrete beams strengthened by external steel plate have been conducted previously. Almost all research used rectangular beams as model. The aim of this research is to obtain the effectiveness of addition of external steel plate as flexural strengthening on T-reinforced concrete beam of bridge. This research uses model of beams with length ratio of 1 : 4 to prototype beams which refer to one of standard bridge of Bina Marga. Parameter which was measured in this research were deflection, initial crack load and crack width. The result shows that (1) the 15 m long of T-beam of Bina Marga Standard remain strong to resist ultimit load according to BMS 1992; (2) the addition of strengthened plate increased stiffness and initial crack load of beam, and decreased crack width of beam; and (3) the failure of beams with or without strengthening was shear failure which was not as expected

    Abstract: The implementation of ISO 9001:2000 quality management system in vocational school. The needs of quality products and services is largerly expanded in various organizations including education. Recently, the vocational schools also realize how important the quality product and service is. For achieving the quality product or service, some organizations implement the concept of ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. In 2006/2007 it is reported that there are some vocational schools have been certified with ISO 9001:2000. ISO 9001 is a serial document consists of Quality Management System Standard which has been refised from its previous standard. ISO 9001:2000 gives a number of prerequisites for organizations having business initialized by design and development, production, installations, and services. The vocational schools which have been certified with ISO 9001:2000, have to be re-accredited after three years of implementation
