Full text linkA notable event in the Crikvenica Town Museum last year was the exhibition "In the Network of Paths", which presented old paths, trails and roads of Vinodol. The exhibition lasted from July 17, 2018 to February 28, 2019, and it is currently situated in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, where it will remain until the first half of August. The exhibition's creators and authors of the catalogue are archaeologist Tea Rosić and historian Stjepan Špalj.U Muzeju Grada Crikvenice prošla je godina bila obilježena izložbom "U mreži putova" koja je prikazala stare putove, staze i ceste Vinodola. Izložba je trajala od 17. 7. 2018. do 28. 2. 2019., a sve do prve polovice kolovoza gostuje u Pomorskom i povijesnom muzeju Hrvatskog primorja Rijeka. Full text linkThe Barbara Petchenik award was initiated by the International Cartographic Society (ICA) in 1993 in memory of Barbara Petchenik, a past vice-president of the ICA and cartographer who worked with maps and children her entire life. The awards are presented every two years during the International Cartographic Conference, if possible at least one to every continent, with special attention paid to the age of the children producing the drawings. The goals of the competition include promoting children’s creative representation of the world in graphic form, and improving their cartographic and environmental perception.Nagradu Barbara Petchenik pokrenulo je Međunarodno kartografsko društvo (International Cartographic Association – ICA) 1993. godine kao uspomenu na Barbaru Petchenik, dopredsjednicu toga društva i kartografkinju koja je cijeli život radila s kartama i djecom. Nagrade se dodjeljuju svake druge godine za vrijeme međunarodne kartografske konferencije, po mogućnosti barem jedna za svaki kontinent, s posebnom pažnjom posvećenom dobi djeteta koje je nacrtalo crtež. No full textCarl Ritter von Ghega was proclaimed 2018 Surveyor of the Year on 21 March 2018. In this paper, we explore how this Austrian of Albanian extraction, born in Venice, played an important role in geodesy and the surveying profession and the honours he got up to the present day. We investigate his background and details of his professional path, education and most important contributions in the areas of surveying and engineering at large. We describe his most significant achievement, that is, the Semmering Railway, which was dismissed at the time as impossible to achieve. In 1998, the Semmering Railway was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Apart from this project, which left a great impression on the engineering profession, von Ghega also developed the Borovnica Viaduct built in the mid-19th century in Slovenia.Carl Ritter von Ghega 21. ožujka 2018. proglašen je geodetom godine 2018. U ovome se radu elaborira čime je Austrijanac albanskih korijena, rođen u Veneciji, zadužio geodete i geodetsku struku te prema tome koje su mu sve počasti do danas dodijeljene. Istražuje se njegovo porijeklo te detaljno njegov profesionalni put, obrazovanje i najznačajniji doprinosi u području geodezije i inženjerstva uopće. Opisuje se njegovo najznačajnije postignuće – tzv. projekt Semerinške željeznice za koji se u to vrijeme vjerovalo da ga nije moguće realizirati. Semerinška je željeznica 1998. uvrštena na UNESCO-ov popis mjesta svjetske baštine. Osim projekta Semerinške željeznice kojim je zadužio inženjersku struku, elaborira se i vijadukt Borovnica koji je sagrađen sredinom 19. stoljeća u dolini Borovnica u Sloveniji

Full text linkThe exhibition On Winged Wheels to the Opatija Riviera is dedicated to two important anniversaries: the establishment of the railway lines and the introduction of the Opatija tram line. It includes many artefacts and historical facts about the railways and trams – a map of rail and postal connections, photographs of the railway construction, commemorative postage stamps, original blueprints of the railway stations, a sketch of the tram line, a brake from an Opatija tram, and photographs of tram workers and passengers on the last ride before the tram was taken out of use in 1933. The authors of the exhibition are Mirjana Kos and Jan-Bernd Urban.Izložba Na krilatim kotačima do Opatijske rivijere posvećena je dvjema važnim obljetnicama – uspostavi željezničkih pruga i uvođenju opatijskog tramvaja. EuroSDR National Delegates’ Meeting in Helsinki
Full text linkU Helsinkiju je u razdoblju od 18. do 20. 10. 2017. godine održan 131. sastanak nacionalnih delegata u EuroSDR-u (Euro Spatial Data Research). EuroSDR je znanstvena organizacija osnovana 1954. godine. U početku se primarno bavila istraživanjem u području fotogrametrije, a u kasnijem razdoblju i ostalim područjima vezanima za istraživanje geoprostornih podataka. Danas ima 18 članica i sve su države članice Europske unije.From 18 to 20 October 2017, the 131st Euro Spatial Data Research National Delegates’ meeting took place in Helsinki. EuroSDR is a scientific organisation founded in 1954. At first, it was concerned with research in the area of photogrammetry, but more recently has also dealt with areas connected with researching geospatial data. Today, it has 18 members, all members of the European Union
