Get PDFImplementation of automation systems in the library make it easy access for students and can improve the quality of its services. SDIT Luqman Al-Hakim International Yogyakarta’s Library has implemented an IBRA V6 automation system in a library services. However, this library still often do the service manually although it is automated. Therefore, evaluation of IBRA V6 automation system in library is needed. This study aims to evaluate the performance of IBRA V6 based library automation system on the circulation section of SDIT Library Luqman Al-Hakim Internasional Yogyakarta. The method of research is a qualitative approach that focuses on the process of circulation, borrowing and return collection. Data collection techniques use observation, interview and documentation. This research is based on service performance theory then formulated with theory of success model of DeLone & McLean system which got 5 indicator from 3 Aspect that is supporting facilities, system quality, operational, service and resultant impact. Of the five indicators are obtained the result that the first indicator of supporting facilities was adequate, but the space was very tightso that the overall service is less. As for other indicators obtained good results, effective and efficient. So the conclusion researchers that the performance of IBRA V6 based library automation system on the circulation process in the library of SDIT Luqman Al Hakim International is good

Get PDFIn the present era of digital information, academic library professionals are required to perform creatively and innovatively. The purpose of this study was to explore and analyze the performance of academic librarians in fostering creativity and innovation in the digital era. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through interviews and documentation, while the data analysis was conducted using the qualitative inductive approach. The results showed that university librarians carried some performances in fostering creativity and innovation in the present digital era. First, librarians carried out application-based library automation that was carried out to facilitate library services. Second, librarians created a library website. This website was needed to strengthen the position of the library in the digital era. Third, librarians made the library journal as a place to express their thoughts in the field of libraries and librarianship and even created an Online Journal System (OJS). Fourth, some librarians were able to show their existence by becoming resource persons or presenters in scientific activities in the field of libraries and librarianship. Fifth, librarians were able to implement e-libraries in both e-books and e-journals. This e-library would undoubtedly make it user easier for the user to access information because it was not limited to space and time. In conclusion, the digital era facilitates easy access and use of digital-based information. The librarian's creativity and innovation in this present digital era are needed to improve the librarian performance

Get PDFSelection of library materials is an important activity which aims to determine the selection of library materials based on characteristics and needs of users. Library selection activities are conducted by professional librarians who have the ability to develop collections. Due to the importance of library materials selection activities, the researcher conducted a study at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. This study aimed to describe the principles of the librarian in the library material selection process at the library of Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan. The study used the descriptive qualitative method, with sampling using the purposive sampling technique to the librarian and non-librarian at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. The data collection technique in this study used the semi-structured interview instruments. The researcher used the scope of library material selection principles consisting of the traditionalist, liberal and pluralistic view. According to the liberal view; the study results showed that librarians were not able to market the library through the approach to students. To the traditionalist view, the main principle in meeting the needs of students was based on the quality of library materials. While the pluralistic view suggested that most students were not satisfied with the literature available at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. Based on that, the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library has applied the traditionalist principles which can be seen from the quality of library materials that will be accessible to the students

Get PDFThe school library is not yet a favorite place for elementary school students. Many factors have contributed to this, among other the types of books available, unreliable library time, non-permanent librarians, even the scorn of friends who think of reading in the library as behavior that pretending to diligent. Many factors have contributed to this, such as the types of books available, unreliable library time, non-permanent librarians, even the scorn of friends who think of reading in the library as pretending to be diligent and smart, which cause students to be reluctant to regularly visit the library. Hence, classroom teachers need to reaffirm the library functions and persuade students to visit and utilize facilities in the library. This article presents the evaluation results of students attitude after receiving information about the library described by the classroom teacher. The method used in this study was descriptive study, with fourth-grade students of an elementary primary school as the object, data collection techniques used questionnaires, and data analysis used a single tabulation based on quantitative data. The results showed that students had a better attitude toward school libraries, from the cognitive aspects were such as knowledge, trust, and assessment, and the affective as well as conative aspects. Therefore, it is expected that schools through the classroom teacher can intensively spread information about the function of school libraries, and improve library facilities and services to the students, so they are accustomed to using the library as a first step in forming the love-literacy generation.
Komunikasi budaya masyarakat Pandai Sikek dalam melakukan transformasi pengetahuan lokal
Get PDFThe ‘Pandai Sikek’ weaving activity is a form of cultural communication through the maternal line (matrilineality) which upholds values and norms. Values and norms of the ‘songket’ culture are governed by the people’s belief that there was an ancestral sacred oath. The local people make information fosters the development of knowledge. This promotes the transformation of knowledge as a form of local knowledge development of the Pandai Sikek community which is fully supported by the community and by the use of media as well. The purpose of this study was to look at the communication pattern of the weaver, employer and government in the transformation process of local knowledge. The research method used was qualitative with ethnographic approach. The main data were collected by unstructured interview, observation and documentation study. The communication pattern among weavers was circular, involving experience, information sharing, application, knowledge, and innovation. Study results indicated the existence of a pattern by the weaver’s community, were experiences shared through information sharing, and then applied to create knowledge. The use of knowledge would result in innovation and then became an experience again. Entrepreneurs became the bridge for cooperation to support the economy of society. The government issued a policy of protection and knowledge preservation through HAKI (Intellectual Property Rights). In conclusion, the transformation of knowledge continues to develop the socio-economic life of society containing values, norms, and beliefs, which has been performed from generation to generation

Get PDFThe existence of school libraries can provide benefits for students to search for the information needed, as a place to work on their tasks, looking for entertaining reading materials or just to fill their spare time while on a break. The school library becomes to foster students reading interest if the collection is adapted to the students' needs. The SMA 3 Depok Library is a school library that has a library collection from fiction and non-fiction. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the availability of library collections which included the relevance and completeness of collections, and the collection updates in order to foster students’ interest in reading. The research method used the quantitative method through descriptive survey conducted on students of class XI SMA 3 Depok, with a population of 408 students. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling with a total sample of 81 students. Data were obtained through a questionnaire, observation, interview, and literature study. The result of this research indicated, the library collection was quite relevant, the collection of books fulfilled the completeness of the collection, however the non-book collection did not exist yet; moreover, the library collection was in accordance with the latest development of knowledge. So, based on the three indicators previously mentioned, SMA 3 Depok students’ reading interest has developed which is shown by the high frequency of reading interest. The library in 3 SMA in Depok should be provided with adequate facilities to support the use of library collections
Persepsi followers @perpuseru terhadap akun instagram PerpuSeru menggunakan teori decoding-encoding
Get PDFLibraries have used media development as part of the culture to influence people to use the library. An example of the use of media as a means of mediation is the PerpuSeru program. Previously, this program partnered with 34 libraries, but currently, the PerpuSeru program has partnered with more than 400 libraries and reading parks in Indonesia. One of the media used in transferring information is Instagram; PerpuSeru has an Instagram account namely @perpuseru in which various information about the PerpuSeru program is available and the extent to which the program is running. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the followers’ perceptions in receiving information provided on the @ perpuseru Instagram by decoding-encoding theory, to examine the extent this theory developed in a media in the present era, and the role the theory played in the media. This study used the descriptive qualitative research method by interviewing some followers of the @perpuseru account. The result found two different views from followers, namely followers with a hegemonic dominant point of view who accepted all the content of information conveyed, and others with a negative perspective who had other considerations in receiving information on the posts of @perpuseru account. However, there were no followers with optional viewpoints. It can be concluded that the two perspectives of @perpuseru Instagram followers are the hegemonic and negative perspective.

Get PDFThis study discusses whether the reference service owned by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Library can be used as a representation of other college libraries. This representation can be seen based on user perception in the University of Indonesia Library of the reference service and also seen from the strategy undertaken by the University of Indonesia Library in improving the quality of their reference service. This research is a qualitative research using case study method. The results of this study indicate that the reference service Library University of Indonesia can be used as a representation of the library of universities, because the University of Indonesia Library managed to make their reference services become more active and more innovative by bringing various innovations in it to get closer to the user. In addition, users also express their opinions regarding reference services in the University of Indonesia Library, this will further strengthen the purpose of this research is a reference service as a representation of the University of Indonesia Library. It is expected that with the innovation made by UI Library to its reference service will make the reference service become the representation of the library itself especially from the user side, because the representation of the reference service is very important to realize the main purpose of university in Indonesia known as Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi is education, research and community service

Get PDFThe needs of library information need to be met to complete the information needs of the library users who generally have a variety of reasons to perform activities in accordance with their purpose. Information retrieval activity is one of the main activities of the library users at the library of the Research Institute for Spices and Medicinal Herbs (RISMH) to find the source of literature through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) facility. The purpose of the research was to determine the decision of the user in searching for information. The study was conducted from November to December 2017, with materials obtained from the library literature search 2015 -2017 results form. The study used the quantitative descriptive method, while the observed variables were: searching users; sources of the required information; subjects needed, and the relationship of the user with the library material searched. Data were analyzed descriptively. The result of the study showed the dominant user searching for information was the researcher; source of information required was documentation, and subject/commodity needed by the user which was medicinal plants. There is a correlation between the researcher’s decision and the searching of journal literature and documentation; student decisions by searching books, journals, and documentation; as well as the general/private user’s decisions with book search and documentation. The information retrieval service at the Balittro Library needs to be improved by linking the online search database with the Balittro website so it can increase the number of online collections.

Get PDFRadio RASI FM is a community radio that organizes and broadcasts the tradition of ‘ngaruat lembur’, the tradition of expressing gratitude to God, and to ward off disasters as well. This radio performs documentation starting from data searching to creating a form of cultural documentation. The study purpose was to see the documentation process of the traditional culture of ‘ngaruat lembu’ at RASI FM radio. The research used the case study method through qualitative method approach to the owner, broadcaster of radio and community of Cisewu Village. The study results indicated that RASI FM radio documented the ‘ngaruat lembur’ tradition through the recording and management process. Recording activities started from the collection of information and records in the form of pouring data. Management activities consisted of the distribution of duties as an on-air announcer, off-air broadcaster, and audio-visual documentation. Then, the storage of written broadcast results on radio and data into audio-visual media was performed and preservation of documents through the separation and maintenance of audio-visual media. Based on that, we constructed a model of the cultural documentation process of ‘ngaruat lembur’ on RASI FM radio. The radio serves as a preserver of rural community traditions through the ‘ngaruat lembur’ program, which is followed by all circles of society. However, the radio team did not yet have a digital-based form of audio-visual documentation maintenance. Nevertheless, RASI FM radio has become a forum for transferring traditional information of Cisewu Village community
