    Kegiatan preservasi naskah kuno Syekh Abdul Manan di Museum Bandar Cimanuk Indramayu

    The spread of Islam in Indramayu stems from trading activities at Cimanuk Port, Indramayu. This is completely contained in the hundred years old manuscripts of Sheikh Abdul Manan. This study aimed to determine how the preservation of Syekh Abdul Manan's ancient manuscripts at the Bandar Cimanuk Museum, Indramayu. The research used a qualitative approach through descriptive research method. Based results of research, the Bandar Cimanuk Museum has carried out activities for the preservation of Sheikh Abdul Manan’s ancient manuscripts through restrictions to direct access to museum users, routine cleaning of manuscripts and the museum environment, fumigation, and digitization. Restrictions to direct access to museum users by placing the ancient manuscripts in glass covered displays and special boxes. Routine maintenance of the museum is conducted by regulating the light and humidity, using camphor in every corner of the room, dehumidifier settings, and directing the museum visitors. Fumigation is conducted through pesticide compund to eliminate pests once a year. The digitization of ancient manuscripts into the form of a digital book (flipbook) which is carried out in collaboration with museums with various institutions, such as, a collaboration with researchers and students from Padjadjaran University. The entire process of preservation activities was carried out in a structured and panned methods. The study concludes that the importance of preservation to maintain and preserve the heritage of ancient manuscripts to be accessed and utilized by wider societies.

    Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Library and Information Science Study Program students have studied information science at an early study stage, so they consistently seek information. This study aimed to investigate the information-seeking patterns of the SWCU Library and Information Science Study Program students using Ellis' theory. This study used descriptive quantitative research methods. Determination of respondents used quota sampling for active students from class 2015 to 2019 using Google forms. Based on the study results, respondents searched for information according to information-seeking behavior: starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, and extracting activities. Respondents in starting activities can already determine the topic of information before seeking the information needed, with a value of 82.6%. Respondents in chaining activities could relate the information obtained through the initial search, with a value of 83.4%. Respondents in browsing activities could search for information in a structured manner, with a value of 78.4%. Respondents in differentiating activities could categorize the information needed, with a value of 83%. Respondents in monitoring activities always made notes after obtaining the required information development, with a value of 79.1%. Respondents in extracting activities could ensure the accuracy of the information obtained through scanning techniques, with a value of 77.9%. However, there was a shift in the Ellis model of information-seeking patterns because some respondents had several stages of information-seeking. The conclusion is that the development of information technology has influenced the student's information-seeking pattern

    The library collection is an essential element of a library. The increasing turnover and collection usage by users in the library will affect the library's performance. The availability of collections in the library is an adequate number of collections and the availability of several collections owned by a library. This study aimed to determine utilization of the Central Library for Utilization of Informatics collection and the BATAN Nuclear Strategic Area using ISO 11620:2014. This study used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, derived from numerical data of circulation services from 2017 to 2019. Results showed that the overall level of borrowing library materials decreased due to reduced direct user visits to libraries and digital libraries. The utilization level of library collections by the population to be served has increased significantly. Documents downloaded were six titles, and the highest download frequency was four times in 2018. Besides, documents downloaded were four titles, and the highest download frequency was 23 times in 2019. Users found the information they were interested in from electronic collections that were downloaded every year, namely radiography training exam questions. The presence of electronic documents is considered quite relevant and useful according to the user's information needs.  Many collections of the Central Library for the Utilization of Informatics and the Nuclear Strategic Area of BATAN are not lent due to the availability of collections that are not yet relevant to users' needs. It significantly affects the turnover of the collection

    Penggunaan website Sumbar Travel terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi wisatawan di Sumatera Barat

    Travel trends have influenced tourist information to be easily accessed by tourists. Several institutions use digital media a lot in promoting tourism in an area. One of them is the Sumbar Travel website used by the West Sumatera Provincial Tourism Office. This study aimed to determine the use of the Sumbar Travel website to meet the information needs of tourists in West Sumatera through analysis of information content, website usability, appearance, and website navigation systems. This study used correlation quantitative research methods. The study results found that the website's information content contributed to fulfilling the information needs of tourists by presenting attractions, culinary, and cultural activities of West Sumatera, as much as 52.5% and 47.5% were determined by other variables. The website's appearance played an essential role in meeting tourist information needs, which contained tourist objects and photos of West Sumatera tourist attractions, as much as 51% and determined by other variables 49%. The website navigation system played an essential role in meeting tourist information needs by providing various tourist information categories by 29%, and 71% were determined by other variables. The website's usefulness contributed to the fulfillment of tourist information needs by 42.5%, and 57.5% were determined by other variables. This study concludes that there is a significant relationship between the influence of the Sumbar Travel website and meeting the information needs of tourists in West Sumatera

    Pengaruh kualitas website Kandaga terhadap kepuasan pengguna Perpustakaan Pusat Universitas Padjadjaran

    Library websites in higher education institutions help increase competitiveness and reinforce institutions, information media, and library promotion. This study aimed to determine the effect of the quality of the Kandaga website partially and simultaneously on user satisfaction at the Padjadjaran University Central Library. This study used an explanatory quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 373 people. The analysis of research data used path analysis. Based on the research results, variables of usability quality, service interaction quality, interface quality, and digital library service quality partially had a significant effect on user satisfaction of the Padjadjaran University Central Library. The quality of the Kandaga website had a significant simultaneous effect on user satisfaction of the Central Library of Padjadjaran University by 87.4%. The quality of the digital library services had the most significant influence on user satisfaction, namely 52.6%. The Central Library o Padjadjaan University needed to prioritize digital library service quality improvements because this variable significantly influenced user satisfaction. The quality of the Kandaga website partially and simultaneously had a significant effect on user satisfaction of the Central Library. Information quality had no significant effect on user satisfaction of the Central Library of Padjadjaran University. Kandaga's information quality variable had the highest value. The study concludes that users of the Kandaga website believe that the quality of information on the Kandaga website currently has met user needs, has a good reputation, is trustworthy, relevant, detailed, and easy to understand.

    Pengadaan koleksi electronic resources di Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta

    University Libraries are sources of electronic resources that are accessible to users. The literature search results show that few studies discuss electronic resource procurement in Indonesian libraries. This article aimed to determine the procurement of electronic resources collections at the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN) Library. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research method conducted at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library. Data collection techniques used structured interviews with seven informants. The analysis results showed seven main findings in the procurement process for collecting electronic resources: the target, budgeting, user specifications, single sign-on authentication, the right team, content duplication, and communication with vendors. The library analyzed the contents of electronic resources to be purchased. Libraries use Ministry and Institutional Work Plan and Budget (RKAKL) funds in their budgeting. Subscriptions to electronic resources are specially for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Single Sign-On authentication system used is EZproxy. The Procurement team consists of the head of the library, deputy head of the library, technical service coordinator, and general reference coordinator. The duplication-checking process is carried out based on the subject. In the communication process with vendors, the team has coordinated well. The research findings contribute to Indonesia's electronic resources procurement management practices

    Implementasi kompetensi pembelajaran sepanjang hayat melalui program literasi di perpustakaan sekolah

    Lifelong learning can be developed through literacy programs in school libraries. This study aimed to determine the implementation of lifelong learning competence through literacy programs in school libraries. The research method used a qualitative approach through research methods a descriptive to a librarian, four teachers, and 22 students at Al Haraki Islamic Junior High School, Depok, West Java.  Through observation, data collection techniques were carried out using a lifelong learning dimension checklist form, semi-structured and in-depth interviews, and literature studies. Data analysis techniques were data reduction utilizing open coding, data presentation, and concluding. Study results indicated that the librarian organized literacy programs supporting the School Literacy Movement. In practice, the librarian acted as the initiator; the teacher became the facilitator and the librarian's partner in developing literacy programs in school. The literacy program had a positive impact on students, including shaping character, increasing knowledge, developing special talents related to communication and writing, adding experience, building positive relationships between librarians and students, and intellectual recreation. Communication competence in foreign languages was one of the lifelong learning competencies that the school library program did not accommodate. The literacy program's obstacles were managing study time and the roles of parents and family at home. This study concludes that the school library literacy program has supported improving the implementation of lifelong learning competencies for students in several dimensions.

    Information repackaging is one of the library's efforts to meet users' information needs in the new normal era. Libraries need to prepare various strategies in providing repackaging products as a library service innovation. This research aimed to describe various aspects and stages of library strategy design in information repackaging in the New normal era. The research used a qualitative approach through literature studies research methods. The results showed that libraries and librarians in the new normal era needed to pay attention to various aspects and stages in designing a digital information repackaging strategy. Aspects of the information repackaging strategy include determining the source of packaging information, types of information repackaging products, and information repackaging methods. Libraries carry out information repackaging strategies by making information repackaging the library’s flagship program and the librarian's main job, understanding the information behavior of the library's native digital users, disseminating digital information packages through social media and collaborative networks, changing the librarian’s role into social librarians and public knowledge and implementing a Marketing and Public Relations (MPR) strategy to disseminate information repackaged products to users. The head of the library plays an important role in supporting librarians in carrying out information repackaging activities. This research concludes that the librarian strategy of repacking information in the new normal era is needed to improve library services that are more creative, interactive, and innovative, in accordance with the user's information needs

    Persepsi pengguna e-Repository di Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional

    The establishment of an institutional repository is to store intellectual assets in digital form in a single repository to facilitate retrieval, provide open access to promote scientific work produced, and detect plagiarism. The National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) developed the institutional repository as an e-Repository, to save research results; however, the use of e-Repository by users has decreased. This study aimed to determine the perception of e-Repository users in the National Nuclear Energy Agency. The study used a descriptive research method through a quantitative approach. Using a stratified sampling technique, research respondents were 349 people from a total population of 1,148 users. The results showed that respondents who knew the term repository were 13.90%, e-Repository was 19.35%, and 5,18% saved documents to e-Repository. The willingness of respondents to use e-Repository and deposit their work was 29.38%, respondents who did not know but would deposit their work was 51.49%. User's understanding of the types of library materials stored in the e-Repository were articles published in journals was 47.19%. At the same time, respondents who understood the purpose and benefits of e-Repository were 54.82%. Users did not save documents to the e-Repository because they doubted the security was 25.71%. The study concludes that the respondents do not fully believe in the security of the data stored in the BATAN e-Repository. However, they realize that it will be easier to retrieve documents stored in the e-Repository

    Keterampilan literasi informasi sebagai upaya pencegahan hoaks mengenai informasi kesehatan di media sosial

    People must know how identify and search for credible health information. This study aimed to determine how information literacy activities prevented the spread of health information hoaxes on social media. This study used a qualitative approach and case study research methods. The collect research data through observation, interviews with 15 interviewees, and literature study techniques. The study results found that people obtained health information literacy by utilizing social media that is used daily. First, people recognized when they needed information, meaning they already understood when to search for information and knew what information to seek. Second, people can find information was performed in various ways, such as choosing a mass media portal that was easy to use, searching for specific information by including keywords or hashtags. Third, people evaluate the information found by knowing who made the information. Who disseminates the information? Are social media accounts trustworthy? Does the skill match the required information? Fourth, people use the obtained information effectively. People only chose the information that was suitable for what they felt and needed. Conclusion this research is people that who use social media must have information literacy expertise in finding health information so that avoid hoax information widely circulating today
