    Mystical rituals in a tradition experience conflict in society because of things that are irrational in nature. For example, the grebeg maulid tradition, grebeg sudiro, lawung mahesa ceremony, mbah meyek village clean, sadranan, and slametan. However, the government has not lost the way to maintain this mystical tradition to maintain society's social order. This research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach that focuses on the traditions that exist in Surakarta, which contain mystical but still growing. This research was conducted from 2019 to 2020. The data collected came from observations made in 5 sub-districts in Surakarta. Second, interviews with mystical actors. Third, documentation obtained from books, journals, and mass media explaining the mystical traditions in Surakarta. The data validity used the triangulation method, member check, time extension, peer debriefing. Data analysis using ethnographic analysis model. The result is that there are six ways to rationalize the mystical tradition, namely connecting the mystical with something rational, using a different name that can be accepted by the public at large, making the tools used in the tradition no longer mystical, and accommodating technological developments. such as the e-wom method to spread tradition.Since the days of kingship-kingdoms in Indonesia, Java, especially Surakarta, has been attached to something mystical. This has to do with forces beyond human power. This behavior exists because that power can have a positive impact. Examples can perpetuate power, bring authority, attract fortune, and attract. But interestingly, at that time mystical behavior was hidden while in this modern and democratic era mysticism was packaged in a different form. This research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach that focuses on the peculiarities of mysticism in the city of Surakarta in 2019-2020. The data collected comes from the first observations made in Surakarta. Second, interviews with mystical actors. Third, documentation obtained from books, journals, and mass media explaining mysticism in Surakarta. The data validity uses the triangulate method, member check, prolonged time, peer debriefing. Data analysis using ethnographic analysis model. The result is that the people of Surakarta, especially government leaders and those with an interest in maintaining mysticism by making mystical traditions become cultural preservation, are legally regulated in policy, the implementation of traditional rituals is open so that people participate, and make irrational ones rational

    This research discusses the rejection of Anak Dalam Ethnic transmigrants in Padang Tarok Village, Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency. The purpose of this study is to explain and describe the reasons for the local community of Padang Tarok Village to reject the Anak Dalam Ethnic Transmigrant and to analyze it using the Social Exclusion by Rene Lenoir. This research uses a qualitative approach. The selection of informants was carried out by purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result of the study shows that the rejection of Anak Dalam Ethnic transmigrants occurs because of differences in religious and cultural values between the Anak Dalam Ethnic and the local community of Padang Tarok Village. Due to differences in religious and cultural values between the Anak Dalam Ethnic and the local community, the transmigration program for the Anak Dalam Ethnic was not implemented according to the planThis research discusses the rejection of Suku Anak Dalam transmigrants in Nagari Padang Tarok, Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency. The purpose of this study is to explain and describe the reasons for the local community of Nagari Padang Tarok to reject the Suku Anak Dalam Transmigrant and to analyze it using the Social Exclusion by Rene Lenoir. This research uses a qualitative approach. The selection of informants was carried out by purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out by means of involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result (1) the role of the head of the Nagari Customary density (KAN) (2) the role of Tungku Tigo Sajarangan consisting of: niniak mamak, alim ulama, cadiak pandai. Internal factors, are: (1) The existence of a Joint Statement Letter of Niniak Mamak Traditional Stakeholders with the Government regarding the Implementation of the Transmigration Program in Nagari Padang Tarok (2) Adat Basandi Syarak , Syarak Basandi Kitabullah as the Basic Life of the Nagari Padang Tarok Local Community (3) The Anak Dalam tribe does not want to embrace Islam (4) There is fear because the Anak Dalam tribe is still primitive (5) The Anak Tribe takes the community's crops given not occupied by the Suku Anak Dalam. External factors are: (1) Community leaders and local communities of Nagari Padang Tarok have not received any socialization and information regarding the arrival of Suku Anak Dalam transmigrants (2) Suku Anak Dalam has no religion (3) Suku Anak Dalam is willing to embrace an official religion but not Islam. (4) Suku Anak Dalam have immunity to state laws (5) The environment where the tribe lives and the living habits of the Suku Anak Dalam are very slum (6) The Suku Anak Dalam has supernatural powers (7) The Suku Anak Dalam is very closed and rarely socializes with the community (8) Javanese transmigrants also rejected the Suku Anak Dalam transmigrants. (9) The Sijunjung Regency Manpower and Transmigration Service did not try to convince the local Padang Tarok community regarding the Suku Anak Dalam transmigrants

    This study examines the intertwining of the attributive elements of feminine narrative on social movement in relation to the narration of Gegeran (riot) Samin in the context of industrialization in Kendeng, Central Java. Recent studies accentuated the narration of Saminisme as the history of resistance to colonialism becomes a study of the description of an unpretentious culture that is to be relevant for cultural conservation. Meanwhile, during this tumultuous era of industrialization, the reconstruction of the narrative of Saminism as a resistance movement was again in the spotlight, especially why women seemed dominant in this struggle. This research was conducted in April-May 2016 based on a narrative ethnography approach that is to be more sensitive to the emergence of a story, between textual and contextual data. The question was why there are differences in the articulation of narratives between elements of Sedulur Sikep values in responding to the establishment of cement factory reflected in the different attitudes and expressions. The research concludes that this social movement is intertwined with struggle efforts based on awareness of cultural diversity and socio-economic class movements by elaborating narrative elements from the specific historical narrative as the cyclical mobilization and are constituted using the performative elements of the activities or actions they heldTulisan ini mengeksplorasi berkelindannya elemen-elemen atributif “perempuan†dalam narasi mengenai masyarakat Samin hubungannya dengan cara-cara mengekspresikan gerakannya era gegeran industrialisasi. Studi-studi mengenai masyarakat ini terkandung beberapa narasi dominan sebagai sejarah perlawanan terhadap kekuasaan kolonial menjadi studi mengenai deskripsi kebudayaan yang bersahaja. Sementara itu, selama era gegeran industrialisasi ini, rekonstruksi narasi Saminisme sebagai sebuah gerakan perlawanan kembali menjadi sorotan, terutama mengapa perempuan tampak dominan dalam perjuangan ini. Penelitian yang dilakukan pada April Mei 2016 ini dilakukan berlandaskan pada pendekatan etnografi naratif (narrative ethnography) yang peka terhadap kemunculan suatu ceritera, antara data tekstual dan kontekstual. Pertanyaan yang akan dikaji dalam penelitian etnografi ini adalah mengapa muncul perbedaan artikulasi narasi di antara elemen Sedulur Sikep (Samin) dalam menanggapi rencana pendirian pabrik semen yang tercermin pada perbedaan sikap atas Saminisme yang menjadi ruh gerakan tersebut?     This study discussed the myths of elephants in the community of Balai Raja Village, Pinggir District, Bengkalis Regency. The elephant myths are the patterns of human-elephant relationships. Before the 1980s, the relationship between elephants and humans was very harmonious. After 1980, the forestry and oil palm industries caused between elephants and humans, which has been occurring until now. This study is categorized into qualitative research with an ethnographic design. Researchers stayed in the field for 2 months to explore information in depth through observation and in-depth interviews. The data was analyzed qualitatively and then written in this report. This study has found out that the conflict between elephants and humans is determined by human attitudes and behavior. The myth of the elephant is a symbol of efforts to conserve natural resources and a tool for compliance with societal norms and values. Elephants have protective properties and are very empathetic to babies. This study proposes that elephant mitigation can use a mythical approach by combining elephants’ and human’s habitation. This study contributes to the science of Anthropology, especially about the conservation of animals and nature. This study proposes that elephants should not be called pests, but a chain of human mutualism, where the elephants and humans live in harmony as a unified ecosystem.Studi ini membahas tentang mitos gajah yang hidup di tengah masyarakat Kelurahan Balai Raja Kecamatan Pinggir Kabupaten Bengkalis. Mitos gajah ini merupakan gambaran pola hubungan gajah dengan manusia dan alam. Ketika Kelurahan Balai Raja belum dibuka oleh industri kehutanan dan perkebunan sawit hubungan gajah manusia berjalan harmonis, namun sejak masuk industri di tahun 1980-an konflik gajah – manusia mulai terjadi. Studi ini merupakan studi kualitatif dengan desain etnografi. Peneliti berdiam di lapangan selama 2 bulan untuk menggali informasi secara mendalam melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam. Data yang tersedia dianalis secara kualitatif, kemudian didiskripsikan dalam laporan ini. Studi ini menemukan bahwa relasi gajah – manusia ditentukan oleh sikap manusia, jika manusia berbuat baik kepada gajah gajahpun akan berbuat baik kepada manusia, begitu juga sebaliknya. Mitos gajah ini merupakan simbol upaya konservasi sumber daya alam dan perangkat kepatuhan pada norma dan nilai sosial masyarakat. Gajah mempunyai sifat melindungi dan sangat berempati kepada bayi. Studi ini mengusulkan agar dalam mitigasi gajah bisa menggunakan pendekatan mitos dengan mengabungkan habitan gajah dan manusia. Studi ini berkontribusi terhadap ilmu antropologi terutama tentang konservasi hewan dan alam. Melalui studi ini gajah sudah seharusnya tidak disebut sebagai hama, melainkan rantai mutualisme manusia. Key Word : Gajah, Bailai Raja, Mitos dan konservasi

    Tradisi HANTA UA PUA sebagai Upaya Pelestarian Budaya Religi Di BIMA

    Bima has many traditions and local wisdom that should continuously preserve, one of which is the traditional ceremonies of Hanta Ua Pua. This tradition is one of the Bima conventional ceremonies in the context of enlivening the birthday of the great prophet Muhammad. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the implementation and values contained in the Hanta Ua Pua traditional ceremonial religious tradition as an effort to preserve Islamic culture in Bima. This article prepares using the method of library research, which is a method of data collection that is carriers out by utilizing the sources and materials of the library. The results and conclusions obtained are the traditional ceremonies of the Hanta Ua Pua ceremony, which are a memorial and a tribute event to the teachings of Islam and scholars. Done since the Sultanate of Bima. The values in this ceremony divide into three, namely social values, spiritual values, and educational values. The Hanta Ua Pua traditional ceremonies are evidence of the entrance and development of Islamic culture in Bima, which is expected to grow and develop the character of the Bima people who can continue to hold fast to Islamic teachings.     The industrial sector is one of the economic drivers in a region. Meanwhile, the industrial sector development in Bima Region is still poorly managed, especially the center of the Tembe Nggoli weaving industry. Therefore, there is a need for efforts by the NTB provincial government to properly manage it. Local economic development which can be done for the product is by using the industrialization concept. Thus, the purpose of writing this article is to examine the industrialization concept by the NTB provincial government as an effort to develop the local economy. The results showed that industrialization efforts by the NTB provincial government included trainings which are based on skills affirmation, business management, production equipment assistance, capital assistance, and even the value of packaging and marketing coverage workshop. The outcome of the training is to provide an expansion of employment opportunities, increase the quality and production capacity. This article used a literature approach, by examining several journals, books, electronic printed documents, and information relevant to the study. The discussion of the article is divided into several parts, 1) Characteristics of the typical woven pattern of Bima Tembe Nggoli; 2) Industrialization as an effort to develop the local economy; 3) Discussion; and 4) Conclusion.Sektor industri merupakan salah satu pendorong kemajuan ekonomi di daerah. Pengembangan sektor industri Daerah Bima masih perlu di perhatikan, termasuk yang terjadi pada sentra industri kerajinan tenun tembe nggoli, sehingga perlu adanya upaya pemerintahan provinsi NTB dalam mengatasi kendala tersebut. Pengembangan ekonomi lokal terhadap produk tersebut, salah satunya dengan konsep industrialisasi. Tujuan penulisan artikel untuk mencermati industrialisasi oleh pemerintahan provinsi NTB sebagai upaya pengembangan ekonomi lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa upaya industrialiasi oleh pemerintah provinsi NTB yaitu meliputi   pembinaan  yang berbasis penguatan skill, pengelolaaan usaha serta bantuan peralatan produksi dan bantuan permodalan hingga nilai kemasan serta jangkauan pemasarannya. Hasilnya untuk memberikan perluasan kesempatan kerja, meningkatkan kualitas dan kapasitas produksinya. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan kepustakaan, dengan menelaah beberapa Jurnal, buku, dokumen cetak elektronik, serta informasi relevan dengan kajian.     Indonesia has a geographically vast area which results various daily ways of life and living habits that shapes culture and custom diversity. Indonesia consists of thousands of developing customs and tribes. The diversity of local customs and cultures in society contributes to social interaction among one tribe to another. The purpose of this study is to describe the cultural diversity found in the Dayak and Banjar tribes of Borneo. Each tribe has a unique culture with its own distinct as an identity to keep its existence, such as the cultural diversity of Dayak and Banjar tribes in Borneo that can affect relationships between the two tribes. The article used literary methods by collecting relevant reference sources from books, journals, researches, and other resources. The results show that diversity can cause conflict, even though conflict have occurred, it does not mean that the Dayak and Banjar tribes are intolerant. Each tribe has a strong culture and mutual cooperation to protect unity. They live on the same island with mutual respect and they respect cultural diversity. The interaction between the Dayak and Banjar tribes that appreciate each other's customs and cultures preserve the culture itself. The customs and cultures that developed in the Dayak and Banjar tribes serve as a source of harmony, with an understanding that they came from the same ancestors, and the awareness that they have a brotherly relationship contributes to values of trust, tolerance, and mutual cooperation between the tribes.Indonesia terdiri dari ribuan suku dan adat yang berkembang, setiap suku memiliki budaya yang unik dengan ciri khas yang melambangkan masing- masing suku. Artikel ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan dengan mengumpulkan sumber referensi dari buku, jurnal, penelitian dan sumber lainnya yang relevan. Karena keragaman ini sering terjadi konflik, meski konflik pernah terjadi bukan berarti Inonesia negara yang Intoleran, setiap sukku memiliki budaya kekeluargaan dan gotong royong yang tinggi untuk mengaja persatuan dan kesatuan misalnya suku Dayak dan suku Banjar yang ada dikalimantan, hidup disatu pulau dengan saling menghormati dan menghargai.     Internalizing Multiculturalism Values Through Education: Anticipatory Strategies for Multicultural Problems and Intolerance in Indonesia

    Diversity is a fact inherent in Indonesia, a country that consists of various ethnic groups, religions, cultures, and customs from Sabang to Merauke. But on the other hand, in many cases, this diversity can also threaten the integrity of Indonesia whose motto is “unity in diversityâ€. A lot of cultural friction to ethnic and religious conflicts has coloring the dynamics of Indonesian diversity from the Orde Lama era to the present. This is clearly a serious threat to Indonesia’s integrity. Since the Reformation era, the Indonesian government has adopted a multicultural approach to solvemulticultural issues. This paper describes the values of multiculturalism that can be used as a spirit in organizing the social system among a plural society. Education, both formal and informal, constitutes a strategic institution to internalize those values of multiculturalism. The research method uses a literature review, with a hermeneutic approach. The findings of this study, the process of internalizing multicultural values through education involves the environment, actors and schools. The success of the internalization process is determined by the mutual support between knowledge, process and acceptance of the values of multiculturalism

    Modal Sosial Kelompok Rentan Sebagai Upaya Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

    Padang City has a low resilience for earthquake and tsunami disaster. Actually, social capital can be used as a strategy for overcoming impacts and efforts to reduce the level of risk of disaster. According to Siegler, social capital has four aspects, there are personal relationships, social network support, civic engagement, and trust and cooperative norms. The research objectives are: 1) Describe the knowledge and experience of vulnerable groups in dealing with disasters (earthquake and tsunami); 2) Identifying vulnerable groups' social capital as a disaster risk reduction (DRR) effort; 3) Describe the opportunities and obstacles/threats in the use of social capital as an effort to disaster risk reduction (DRR). The research method is qualitative with a case study. The location of this research in Pasie Nan Tigo, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. The determination of informants is a purposive sampling technique. This research has 22 informants. The criteria of informants are; 1) Have settled in a red zone area for at least 5 years; 2) The distance between the house and the beach is a maximum radius of 3 km. The results of the research are; 1) Vulnerable groups have the knowledge and experience about disasters; 2) Social groups already have social capital in 4 aspects of social capital such as personal relationships, social networking support, civic engagement, and trust and cooperative norm; 3) Social capital has opportunities and challenges from the internal and external side. Keywords: Social Capital, DRR Â

    Perubahan Pola-Pola Perkawinan pada Masyarakat Lampung Saibatin

    This article discusses the marriage system that occurred in the Lampung Saibatin community. This study examines how the marriage system change based on their own needed. This study was an ethnography research that would be described qualitatively, this is intended because the concern of the research is the way of life of the Lampung Saibatin community. The results showed that the Lampung Saibatin marriage in the 1970s underwent a change from a very strong Bujujogh with patrilineal to a Semanda marriage system. Lampung Saibatin community develops a new marriage system using Semanda which is an influence of the Minangkabau people, this is done by Lampung Saibatin people because they are reluctant to be called a failed family or â€mupusâ€. This study sees that the changes that occur due to two vital elements are that emerge from within the Saibatin community itself which includes privilege and economy.
