MEDIA AND PUBLIC TRUST TOWARDS COVID-19 INFORMATION
Mass media is one of the leading sectors in handling COVID-19. Amidst current health emergency, public trusttowards the information conveyed by the mass media is the key to successful mitigation. Various types of newsregarding massive COVID-19 reports in several media channels have the potential to cause information bias whichends in pros and cons. Insubstantial debates in varied media are counter-productive to the efforts of various partiesin educating the society to avoid misinformation. Based on this, it is important to know the media that are referencesand that gain public trust in seeking information. This study examines the level of public trust in information aboutCOVID-19 in the mass media, both old and new media, using an online questionnaire methodology on May 3, 2020,which was given to 60 respondents. The results show that the respondents’ level of faith in television is higher, but itsconsumption by viewers is much lower than that of online media (news sites and social media). The results showedthat viewers still deemed television a reliable reference for information. From these data it was found out why themedia are rarely used by the people but are able to gain high trust in the eyes of the public. The results of this studyare expected to provide an overview of the attitudes and behavior of the community in understanding COVID-19information so that relevant parties can make appropriate policies in the perspectives of media and communication
Teknologisasi Metafor, Demistifikasi Trauma: Alegori Dalam Film 27 Steps Of May
This article aims at elaborating the issues of trauma, violence against women and their agencies depicted in Indonesianfilm entitled 27 Steps of May. By situating the issues within the theoretical framework combining theories on allegoryand metaphor as elaborated by Jameson (2006), and Jakobson (1956), as well as theoretical premises pertaining to filmtechnology by Turner (2002), this study shows how film as a form of narrative texts can visualize those issues throughavailable technological features (camera techniques and mise-en-scene). Our close reading finds that the film presentsmetaphors of rape, women agency, amnesia and trauma through the presentation of the characters (May, Bapak, Pesulapand Kurir), also the mise-en-scene in its scenes. We argue that this film visualizes an allegory of national trauma inrelation to Indonesian May 1998 riots, specifically the violence towards marginalized groups (Chinese and women),which also represents the Indonesian collective expectation in acknowledging the national trauma jointly.
THE DIGITAL HUMANITIES: A Primer for Scholars and Students
The Digital Humanities: A Primer for Students and Scholars is written by Eileen Gardiner and Ronald G. Musto as a resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students working in the field of the digital humanities. Overall, the well-structured book discusses how technological developments have presented scholars and students with new grounds to explore the methodology, pedagogy, and public history aspects of digital history. It tries to respond to such questions as whether the Digital Humanities (DH) is a field of study or a methodology, if it is a social science, a humanistic, or a technological discipline, or whether it is the study of the interaction between computing and humanities

MENGUKUR DAN MERANCANG MODEL KETAHANAN ENERGI MELALUI PERUBAHAN PERILAKU KONSUMEN ENERGI TERBARUKAN
The benefits of renewable energy in Indonesia are not well understood by consumers. This research suggests the use of renewable energy, which is very beneficial for consumers. This research also has implications for policy makers, electricity suppliers, and future researchers. Using two online and offline survey methods, this study can formulate a behavior change model that can help policy makers identify marketing and branding strategies so that they are expected to succeed in changing consumer behavior and increasing the degree of consumer involvement in renewable energy products, for example in forming an energy independent community. Therefore, in addition to strengthening the use of renewable energy, other sections such as marketing and further research on consumer behavior must continue to be carried out in order to obtain a whole independent energy system
POLA SPASIAL HARGA TANAH UNTUK PERENCANAAN STRATEGIS DALAM PERSPEKTIF PEMBANGUNAN BERKELANJUTAN (STUDI KASUS: KOTA BANDUNG, JAWA BARAT, INDONESIA)
Sustainable development goals are expected to be achieved by 2030. One of the goals of sustainable development is to build cities and settlements that are inclusive, safe, and resilient. Bandung as one of the cities with very rapid development growth during the last 10 years has experienced changes in land prices, which are also very fast. Land prices are proven to have a relationship with development in an area. The more complete public facilities, social facilities, and accesses in an area, the higher the price is. This study has determined the spatial pattern of land prices in Bandung using four spatial cluster analysis methods. It is found that the spatial pattern of land prices in Indonesia is clustered. The results of this spatial pattern can be used as the basis for strategic planning for Bandung, especially to serve areas that can still be developed into new development centers supported by environmental planning and sustainable development
THE BURIAL PRACTICES OF THE GRAVETTIAN AND THE EPI-GRAVETTIAN PERIODS IN ITALY, CZECH REPUBLIC, AND RUSSIA
This paper describes the burial practice in the Gravettian (early Upper Paleolithic) and the Epi-Gravettian periods (late Upper Paleolithic) in Italy, and the Gravettian period (early Upper Paleolithic) in Czech and Russia. In Italy, the Gravettian and the Epi-Gravettian burial sites were mostly situated in caves because geologically Italy has extensive karstic systems throughout Alpine mountains. Meanwhile, the Gravettian single and multiple burial sites in Czech and Russia were found in an alluvial plain. The single burials are more numerous in the Epi-Gravettian than the Gravettian periods in Italy. Furthermore, Italy has the largest number of the Gravettian single and multiple burials compared to Czech and Russia. If the compass direction and the corpse placement (prosthesis) in the ground and the position of the head are considered, it apparently links to their origin. The ancestors of the Gravettian peoples in Italy, Czech, and Russia are supposed to have originated from the East or Southeast. The disparity of cultural behavior between the Gravettian and the Epi-Gravettian periods in Italy can be deduced by the number of single burial and the environmental condition where the Gravettian period developed during the last glacial maximum (LGM), while the Epi-Gravettian happened in warmer condition
GENRE-BASED DIGITAL STORYTELLING IN THE 21st CENTURY EDUCATION: A STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION
The present study is aimed at investigating the perception of elementary school pre-service teachers regarding the genre based digital story telling projects in their General English (GE) class. The benefits and challenges of digital storytelling projects have been studied by many researchers. However, perception of elementary school pre-service teachers of the issue is still rarely investigated. The data were collected from open and closed questionnaire to 47 elementary school pre-service teachers of a public university in West Java, Indonesia. In the second semester, they had a GE class (kelas Mata Kuliah Umum/MKU Bahasa Inggris). They were given two genre-based digital storytelling projects i.e., the digital descriptive and narrative text projects. The findings are further explained in relation to the 4Cs skill in 21st century education. It is found that genre-based digital storytelling projects improve the elementary school pre-service teachers’ communication, collaboration, creative thinking, and creativity skill. The pre-service teachers generally perceived the learning as meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable, supporting digital storytelling as a powerful media in the 21st century education
BALANCED MESSAGING FOR EXPERIENCED LAPTOP CONSUMERS
This research aims to obtain empirical evidence about the impact of “balanced messaging” (a marketing communicationpractice where both strengths and weaknesses of a product are communicated to consumers) in marketing communication on consumers’ brand loyalty. With three laptop brands being the subjects and university students in Indonesia being the sample, surveys with an experimental design were conducted. Participants (n = 90) were randomly grouped into those being exposed to product’s strengths only (Group A), product’s weaknesses (Group B), and product’s strengths and weaknesses (Group C) – with 30 participants in each group. Using ANOVA, the results indicate that balanced messaging can be as constructive as imbalanced messaging, which focuses merely on strengths in the context of brand loyalty. With several limitations, this preliminary study is expected to benefit marketers to create fairer marketing communication
