Logging as an Environmental Risk for the Forest Environment
This article aims to evaluate the impact of logging on water, soil, and vegetation in forest stands (736; 746 affected by logging and control area 400 — without logging) — and the occurrence of herbal synusia. The NES (non-polar extractable substances) indicator exceeded limits in all surface water samples. Thirty percent of the samples taken from Forest Stand 736 exceeded NES limits. In Stand 746, the ratio was 60 %. Forest area 400 remained under NES limits. Operating fluid leaks from transport-mechanization machines, pollution from older environmental loads, and the content of humic substances are possible reasons for the increased concentration of physic-chemical indicators. The NES content did not affect the number and coverage of species in the monitored areas. The EAI (Environment Accident Index, which utilizes knowledge about ecotoxicity) index method confirmed the environmental risk of logging in the forest environment
Mélyinterjús kutatás a fenntarthatósági attitűdökről egy hazai egyetemen
A fenntarthatóság három alappillére évről-évre egyre nagyobb hangsúlyt kap világunkban, beleértve ebbe az akadémiai szférát is, ahol egyes szereplők stratégiai célként fogalmazták meg az átmenet megvalósítását, ideértve a tanulmányban elemzett egyetemet is. Vizsgálatunk középpontjában az állt, hogy feltárjuk azt, hogy ezen intézmény munkatársai mennyire tartják magukat el-kötelezettnek a fenntarthatóságra való átmenet iránt. Egy primer kutatás eredményeit kívánjuk bemutatni cikkünkben, mely kvalitatív eredményekre alapoz. 2024 tavaszán 16 alkalmazottal került mélyinterjú lebonyolításra, strukturált kérdéssor alapján. Az eredmények rávilágítottak arra, hogy az alanyok egyértelműen elkötelezettek a fenntartható fejlődés iránt, és cselekedetekkel, ismereteik folyamatos bővítésével, javaslatok megfogalmazásával törekednek annak elérésére. Megállapítható a kutatásból, hogy az alanyok fontosnak tartják a fenntarthatóság kommunikálását, de szükségét érzik az egyedi, megkülönböztető üzeneteknek is. Értekezésünk javaslatául szánjuk, hogy az egyetemek prioritásként kezeljék a partnerségek létesítését, amely könnyíti a célok megvalósítását, és szélesebb körű nyilvánosságot biztosít az egyetemen keletkezett tudásnak
2-5 rétegből álló kisméretű rétegelt-ragasztott tölgy fűrészáru hajlítóvizsgálata
Cikkünk célja a gyenge minőségű tölgyfa lamellákból összeállított rétegelt-ragasztott faanyagok (GLT) hajlítási tulajdonságainak feltárása. A kétrétegű (40 mm vastag), háromrétegű (45 mm vastag) és ötrétegű (50 mm vastag) GLT-ket dinamikus és statikus vizsgálatnak vetettük alá a hajlítószilárdság (MoR) és a rugalmassági modulus (MoE) meghatározására. Az eredmények azt mutatták, hogy a MoR még a két- és háromrétegű minták esetében is 60 MPa feletti átlagértékkel bír, valamint 80 MPa az ötrétegű mintáknál, alacsony szórással. A MoE összesen 7,7%-kal csökkent a vastagság növekedésével. A roncsolásmentes és roncsolásos vizsgálatok hasonló eredményeket adtak. Megállapítható, hogy a külső rétegek minősége nagyon fontos volt. A Roth Gyula Erdészeti Szakközépiskola utcai homlokzatának 2019-2020 közötti helyreállítása
A Sopron, Szent György utca 9. szám alatti, egykori bencés gimnázium épülete 1874-ben nyerte el mai alakját. Tervezője és építője Schármár János soproni építőmester volt. Homlokzatát korábban többször is nívótlanul javították, így szakszerű felújítása indokolttá vált. A 2019 és 2020 között, a Modern Városok Program keretében megvalósult helyreállítás során a homlokzat visszakapta építéskori szürke színezését, égetett kerámiából készült, magas színvonalú díszítőelemeit pedig bemutatták. Nyílászáróit eredeti történeti formájukban újra-gyártották, kapuzatát restaurálták
Hiking habits and tourist flow patterns in the Bakony Mountains – in favour of sustainable forest tourism management
Despite the fact that forest tourism is becoming more and more popular every year, we still know little about the real participant numbers, apart from local estimates. However, 30-31 million visitor days were estimated in the forests managed by Pilisi Parkerdő Ltd. in 2020. (Pilisi Parkerdő Ltd., 2020), but temporal and spatial distribution is missing. We conducted our research based on live visitor counts in Bakony Mountains with the aim of collecting data for the forest tourism service providers. With the results, it becomes possible for the service provider to determine development directions that meet the needs, as well as to introduce sustainable visitor management in the future. On the demand (visitor) side, targeted and demand-oriented developments increase the experience factor of the time spent in the forest. On the supply (service provider) side, knowing the motivations makes the performance of public welfare tasks more efficient, which directly contributes to improving the sector’s image. Analysis of changes in the composition of beech as an important industrial raw material in Hungary
We see and feel the impact of climate change, and global warming and weather extremes are now
making their impact felt in the original ecosystem and on the health of tree stands, growth and yield
rhythm.
The Beech tree species is also extremely sensitive to the place of growth, it is not without reason that
the climate zone in the forestry climate classification, the coolest, most demanding of precipitation,
located at the highest altitude above sea level, is characterized by the beech climate. He showed that this
climate zone is moving higher and higher in our high mountains, but when the tree species is 100-150
years old, it cannot follow this so quickly. Due to the renewal, the bringing of newness, the frequent
acorn harvest, it can be deceptive at first that everything is in order, but it is doubtful that our newly
renovated beech trees will even be worth 100 years in their place of production.
Beech trees have had a tendency for pseudo-aging for centuries, the development of which is disputed,
there are several views and no exact explanation has been established, but it is certain that healthy
pseudo-aging does not actually cause any mechanical or quality problems, with the exception of starshaped pseudo-aging, which is easily associated with gut rot, or It leads to.
The valuable industrial raw material can be selected from the extracted beech trunks and branches from
the lower third part of the trunk, since there are the diameter sizes that are standard/usual for the sheet
metal industry (slicing, peeling) as well as saw logs and timber. in the case of selections. In addition to
quantitative requirements, there are also strict quality requirements regarding spatial curvature,
skylights, false gestures, etc.). Unfortunately, we see that these are increasingly not given, so the
proportions shift from valuable industrial wood to firewood, fiber wood, and chipboard.
In this research, we have tried to explore the development of the assortment structure over the past
decades, to see where it is changing and moving, since it is quite possible to draw conclusions from it,
and perhaps to think along the lines of trends in terms of future possibilities as well.
Of course, market expectations can also influence the selection structure (e.g. firewood program), but
these effects are only temporary and not tendentious, so they can be filtered out
The Migration of the Eurasian Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola L.) in the Carpathian Basin at the Turn of the 19–20th Centuries
In the present study, 7344 spring observations of a short-distance migratory species, the Eurasian Woodcock, from the Carpathian Basin between 1894 and 1926 were used to investigate the timing of the species’ migration and how different environmental factors influenced it. We used a generalized additive model (GAM) to explore migratory patterns by using environmental and geographical variables. In years when the weather was colder and snowier, the birds migrated weeks later than in years with milder weather. This may be due to the availability of earthworms, which are the most important food for the species. In areas at lower altitudes, migration occurred earlier than in mountainous areas, which may also be due to the different weather. Furthermore, a two week difference was observed between the south-western and north-eastern parts of the Carpathian Basin. This difference is still present nowadays, but the timing of migration has shifted earlier than in the past, probably due to climate change. It would also be important to compare the historical data with recent data to gain a better understanding of the effects of climate change on the migration of the Eurasian Woodcock
CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION THROUGH CARBON STORAGE AND PRODUCT SUBSTITUTION IN THE HUNGARIAN WOOD INDUSTRY
In our study we estimated under two different scenarios the historic and future carbon balance of the Hungarian harvested wood product (HWP) pool using the HWP-RIAL model. We also estimated the effect of product and energy substitution and the magnitude of avoided emissions based on international substitution factors. According to our results in the period 1985–2021 the average of the HWP net emissions plus substitution effects was -3,800 kt CO2. In this period the 49% of the forest industry-related climate benefits was attributable to carbon storage in forests, while 4% was attributable to carbon storage in wood products and 47% to product and energy substitution. According to our projection the HWP net emissions plus substitution effects could reach -14,994 kt CO2 up to 2050 under an intensified domestic wood processing industry. This means that product substitution benefits could be tripled, while the net removals of the HWP pool could be 5 times higher than the historic values
