Corydalis pumila a Dél-Tiszántúlon és további adatok a Kis-Sárrét és a Körös menti sík erdei flórájához
No full textThis article presents some interesting floristic data from the survey of forests of the ‘Kis-Sarrét’ and the ‘Körös Plain’ microregions (East Hungary) between 2016 and 2024. This article focuses on species associated with mesophilic forests. The majority of the data presented are from the forests of the ‘Kis-Sarrét’ and the ‘Körös Plain’, including some surprising species new to the southern part of the ‘Tiszántúl’ region, including Corydalis pumila in Bélmegyer and Salvia glutinosa in Körösnagyharsány. Several species typical of mesophilic forests were also found in these two areas, which are extremely rare in the southern part of ‘Tiszántúl’ region, of which only one or two current occurrences are known (e.g. Allium oleraceum, Carex remota, Hesperis sylvestris and Orchis purpurea). In addition to the most interesting data, I report the occurrence of all species associated with mesophilic forests that are not included in the maps of the online database of Hungarian vascular plants, except for a few common species. The level of detail of the 42 species enumerated varies according to their importance. The more interesting species are described in more detail, while for the more common species, only brief occurrence data are given, with some comments where necessary

Changes in Structure, Tree Species Composition, and Diversity of the Abu Geili Riverine Forest Reserve, Sinnar State, Sudan
No full textThis study assesses the structure, composition, diversity, and conservation status of the Abu Geili Riverine Forest Reserve (AGRFR), Sudan, to evaluate changes in these attributes between 2011 and 2021. Thirty sample plots (radius = 17.84 m) were established systematically. The distance between plots was 50 m and 100 m between survey lines to facilitate the identification, counting, and measuring of diameter at breast height (DBH) and height of all living trees and compare that with 2011 data. The results identified 462 trees across 32 species and 15 families in 2021, reflecting an increase in species and family diversity from 2011, which reported 626 trees from 23 species and 12 families. The Fabaceae family was most dominant, with ten species in 2021 and six in 2011. In both years, the Miliaceae and Moraceae had three species each. Three of the four calculated diversity indices displayed increasing trends, highlighting the rich diversity of the area and its importance for conservation and management

No full textSawmills play a key role in the primary sector of the wood industry producing lumber from tree logs through a multi-stage process including inspections, classification, sawing, drying, etc. The sawing step can become a bottleneck due to the high investment costs the necessary equipment present. Thus, their schedule can be of significant economic importance, resulting in several studies over the years. While most of the approaches in the literature consider a simple model of production and focus on the stochastic nature of real-life problems, present work details a more in-depth model to better tackle practical considerations of less automated and smaller sawmills. The proposed Mixed-Integer Linear Programming model addresses volatile labour availability and differences between the two most dominant sawing technologies. The efficiency of the model is tested on randomly generated instances. The proposed approach can provide the optimal solution within reasonable time for short-term instances
A klímaváltozás hatása a faanyag mennyiségére és minőségére
No full textNapjainkban a klímaváltozás egyre hangsúlyosabban megjelenik az élet minden területén, ezért tanulmányunk célja ennek hatásait vizsgálni a fatest növekedésével kapcsolatban. Az ország több területéről származó akác, csertölgy és gyertyán korongokon kiválasztásra kerültek a szokásostól eltérő évgyűrűk, melyek szín- és keménység alapján lettek vizsgálatba vonva és összehasonlítva a szomszédos évgyűrűkkel. Több naptári év volt, melyeknél egyszerre 3-5 mintán jelentkeztek anomáliák. Színméréssel nehéz volt egyértelmű következtetést le-vonni, azonban a keménységvizsgálat esetenként 25% feletti eltérést mutatott a szomszédos évgyűrűk között. A meteorológiai adatokat szintén bevontuk a vizsgálatba, melyek közül leginkább a nyári csapadékmennyiség volt összefüggésben az évgyűrű-tulajdonságokkal

The analysis centres on woodcarving ventilation panels, which serve the dual purpose of improving air circulation and maintaining aesthetic appeal. The results highlight the potential of combining traditional craftsmanship with modern architectural approaches to create sustainable and culturally relevant building solutions; this research offers valuable insights into how traditional elements can be adapted to contemporary designs to promote functionality and cultural heritage in building practices
