Changes in tree biomass and soil carbon pools of oak ecosystems along a climate gradient in a Central European region
Investigating tree diversity and structure across varying land cover classes and altitudes in the savanna woodlands of Sudan
Climate and land use changes significantly endanger tree species’ structure and diversity in savanna woodlands. The destruction of these ecosystems hinders the achievement of several global environmental and development targets, notably SDGs 2, 13, and 15, which underscores the need for continuous tree monitoring to inform decision-making on biodiversity conservation. This study aims to characterize the relationships between tree diversity and structure across different land cover (LC) classes—Dense tree cover (D), Sparse tree cover (S), Grasslands (G), and Wetlands (W)—and altitudinal gradients (AGs) in Alain forest, located in Sudan’s savanna woodlands. A systematic sampling was used across varying AGs and LC types to collect data on tree species richness and structure in 926 circular plots. Tree diversity, measured using Shannon and Simpson indices, showed significant differences among LC classes (p < 0.05), with the highest diversity observed in D and the lowest in G. Both indices exhibited a significant negative correlation with AGs (Shannon: R = –0.33, p < 0.001; Simpson: R = –0.30, p < 0.001), indicating a decline in tree diversity with increasing elevation. Tree structural attributes also varied significantly across LC types: tree height and density were highest in D and lowest in G ( p < 0.05). While tree height showed a weak but significant negative correlation with altitude ( R = –0.106, p = 0.003), tree density did not ( R = –0.048, p = 0.185). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) revealed distinct clustering of LC classes based on combined diversity and structural attributes, with tree height and diversity indices contributing strongly to the first two principal components. These findings highlight the influence of LC and AGs on tree community structure and biodiversity in Alain forest, offering valuable insights for conservation and land-use planning. Further research based on more comprehensive datasets is recommended to boost scientific knowledge for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management
Bürokratikus szervezetek fenntarthatósági intézkedéseinek és vezetőik egyéni fenntarthatósági attitűdjeinek vizsgálata
A tanulmány célja, hogy feltárja, milyen fenntarthatósági intézkedéseket vezettek be bürokratikus szervezetek az elmúlt években, és ezek hogyan viszonyulnak a szervezeti vezetők egyéni fenntarthatósági attitűdjeihez. A kvalitatív kutatás során 19, különböző gazdasági ágazatot képviselő szervezet vezetőjével készült interjú.

Wood-water relationship and micro-chemical properties of huminated archaeological European elm (Ulmus laevis P.)
Archaeological wood requires effective conservation to prevent further degradation, and traditional modifications such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) have limitations, including hygroscopicity and chemical degradation over time. To explore alternative modification, this study was conducted to investigate the suitability of humins, crosslinked with different concentrations of succinic acid (SA), to protect archaeological elm wood from the Agapia Monastery against water and to determine the modification mechanism. Key parameters such as dimensional stability, moisture sorption isotherms, and determination of accessible hydroxy groups as a function of humination modification were analyzed using dynamic vapor sorption (DVS). The modification mechanism was studied by microstructural and chemical properties evaluation by Confocal-Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results indicated that humins, particularly crosslinked with SA, significantly improved the water-related properties of wood and its dimensional stability. The humination also reduced the accessibility of the hydroxy group, thus decreasing the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of huminated elm at relative humidities (RHs) ranging from 0 to 95%. While SEM images revealed structural changes in the modified wood, Confocal-Raman spectroscopy confirmed the successful allocation of humins into the cell walls. This study demonstrates that humins are promising materials for archaeological wood conservation, providing improvements in both chemical and physical properties
When the Face of the Ad Is Bigger than the Brand: How Zlatan Ibrahimović Redefined Advertising with Athletes
Athletes today are no longer defined solely by their performance on the pitch; they have evolved into powerful personal brands that shape advertising narratives and influence consumer behavior globally. Their charisma, public personas, and ability to engage with audiences often make them as marketable as traditional celebrities. This research investigates the phenomenon of athlete branding, focusing on the intersection of personal identity and commercial partnerships. A prime example of this evolution is Zlatan Ibrahimović, whose outspoken, rebellious personality, humor, and confidence have allowed him to transcend the typical boundaries of sports endorsements. Applying the Model of Athlete Brand Image (MABI) framework, this study explores how Ibrahimović’s unique persona dominates advertising campaigns, often taking center stage alongside the brands he represents. Through a content analysis of commercials, the research highlights how Ibrahimović’s personal brand drives engagement and resonates with consumers, offering insights into the growing significance of authenticity and individuality in advertising with athletes. Ibrahimović’s case exemplifies how modern sports figures extend beyond the realm of athletics, becoming influential cultural icons and redefining the dynamics of brand partnerships
Life cycle assessment of bioenergy production from short-rotation coppice plantation in Hungary
Carbon negativity of black locust and poplar plantation in different management systems in Hungary
Carbon negativity is one of the promising strategies to uptake carbon emissions from the atmosphere and reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere. Forests have been proven to sequester atmospheric carbon emissions through photosynthesis and store them as tree biomass. However, forest operations also emit carbon into the atmosphere via fertilizer, pesticides, and fuel consumption. This study aims to compare the carbon negativity of black locusts and poplar plantations in different management systems. Carbon dynamics in short and long-rotation systems was analysed using CO 2 FIX software. Meanwhile, the carbon emission in forest operations was estimated through the life cycle assessment method. In the simulation period of 45 years, black locust and poplar plantations in short and long-term management systems have shown carbon negativity. The amount of carbon sequestration was higher than carbon emission. Furthermore, carbon negativity in long-rotation management systems was better than in short-rotation coppice management systems
