The ways racism emerged in the era of President Donald Trump and its impact on Asian-Americans during COVID-19: A sentiment analysis
An increase in racist acts of violence against people of Asian descent, ranging from verbal abuse to physical violence, with victims of young children to the elderly in various states. Although not the first in US history, the various cases of post-Donald Trump racist attacks are very worrying for their development, because they occur so frequently and threaten the lives of those who are targeted, particularly Americans of Chinese descent. This widespread racist attack that occurred in almost all US states is unprecedented in the country's long history, following racist acts that have been directed against black people. This article aims to find out how racism became commonplace in the United States under President Trump. Are there factors behind the increase in racism in the United States, especially during a pandemic? To identify the problem, the authors conducted a literature study and observations on social media. The authors used a qualitative approach with sentiment analysis in this study. The result of this study is that Donald Trump's leadership during the pandemic had a massive impact on America and the world, namely racial discrimination against Asia-America
Students' motivation and engagement in the learning process of literature teaching using imaginative re-creation technique
This article investigates the influence of imaginative re-creation techniques on students' motivation and engagement within the context of literature teaching. Traditional pedagogical methods often struggle to maintain high student involvement in literature classes. This single-case research employed a mixed-methods approach combining observation and questionnaire data to assess students' motivation and engagement. A total of forty-five participants were involved in the study. Quantitative analysis of the questionnaires revealed an average level of motivation and engagement. However, a qualitative analysis of observations demonstrated that students exhibit a heightened sense of enthusiasm and engagement during class sessions that incorporate imaginative re-creation techniques. The findings suggest that while questionnaire responses might not fully capture the extent of students' enthusiasm, the classroom atmosphere is positively affected by the implementation of imaginative re-creation techniques. This implies that students' active participation and emotional connection with the literature are better reflected in their in-class behaviors than in self-reported questionnaire responses. In conclusion, this article highlights the complex relationship between students' self-reported motivation and engagement and their observable behavior during literature classes incorporating imaginative re-creation techniques. It underscores the need for a comprehensive assessment considering quantitative and qualitative data to understand students' educational experiences better. By integrating imaginative re-creation techniques into literature teaching, educators can foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment that goes beyond average questionnaire results and cultivates a genuine passion for literary exploration among students
Comparing pedagogical competence performances of English and non-English educational background teachers in teaching English at an elementary school
Regulation of the Minister of National Education number 16 of 2007 stated that Teachers at the Elementary school level (SD/MI), or other equivalent forms, must have a minimum educational academic qualification of diploma four (D-IV) or bachelor (S1) in the field of Primary Education (D-IV/S1 PGSD/PGMI) or psychology obtained from an accredited study program. Thus, there are many schools that have English teachers from non-English educational backgrounds (NEB) rather than English teachers from English educational backgrounds (EEB). This condition will affect the quality of English teaching in Elementary schools. In order to evaluate further the suitability of government regulation regarding teachers’ criteria in teaching Elementary students, this study was to compare the pedagogical competence of English and non-English educational background teachers in teaching English at the elementary school level. The design of the study is qualitative research with a case study approach. The researcher took four English teachers consisting of two English teachers with EEB and two English teachers with NEB. This study used interviews, observation, and questionnaires to collect the data. This study used 10 indicators from the Ministry of Education, 2007. The results showed that from the 10 aspects, it can be highlighted that English teachers from EEB and English teachers from NEB have similarities and differences in implementing the indicators of pedagogical competence established by the Ministry of Education, 2007. It showed that the English teachers from EEB are more dominant in implementing indicators 1,2,8,9,10. Furthermore, the English teachers from NEB are more dominant in indicators 6 and 7. Thus, they have similarities in the rest of the indicators (3,4,5)

In the collecting and logging data phase, this research collected recorded gameplay and videogame cut scene using Bandicam software and took notes from semiotic sources representing the female characters. Viewing and sampling data involved the viewing process in the recorded video and taking a sample of data from four female characters. Failure of Bloom’s learning domains in online learning: EFL learners’ perspectives
This naturalistic qualitative research investigated the insufficient performances of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in online-class learning and the paradigm shifts of Bloom’s learning domains from face-to-face teaching learning process to internet-based teaching learning process. This research adapted the theory of Bloom’s taxonomy which discussed the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The data was taken by semi-structured interview with the university students about the online learning experience and the analysis was done by categorizing to get the grand theory. It was found that the online learning brought several positive sides such coming to class on time, saving cost for transportation, and paperless, and the negative sides of online learning were the limited reach, limited facilities, and over-cost of internet connection. Then, the cognitive failure in online learning affected the understanding, the affective failure in online learning affected the receiving, responding, valuing, organization, and characterization. The psycho-motoric failure in online learning affected fundamental movement, perceptual abilities, physical abilities, and skilled movement. The paradigm shift of Bloom’s learning domain is the way to teach, the way to behave, and the way to socialize

Mood analysis and self-correction to enhance EFL students’ grammatical accuracy
This study is more focused on enhancing the accuracy of subject-verb agreement/ conjugation, by employing the mood analysis and self-correction techniques. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of mood analysis and self-correction practices to enhance EFL students’ conjugation accuracy. This research is an experimental study in a classroom context, which was carried out in the English Department of Stikubank University (UNISBANK) Semarang. Fifteen students played a role in an experimental group while fifteen others played a role in a control group. During the treatment, the experimental group did mood analysis and self-correction while the control group did not. The t-test calculation shows that there is a significant difference between the conjugation accuracy of the text written by the experimental group and that written by the control group. The experimental group outperformed the control group. The research findings indicate that mood analysis and self-correction practices are effective to enhance EFL students’ conjugation accuracy. Thus, it is recommended that practices of mood analysis and self-correction be applied in a teaching grammar lesson
