Introducing the Digital Object Container Identifier: A Multilinear Object & Identifier Approach in Using PIDs to Build Equity
The lack of digitization of research results poses a significant barrier in Africa. We will bring access to knowledge and metadata about digital objects closer to wider groups, including indigenous knowledge and patent metadata, through the Africa PID Alliance's innovative programs and trustworthy open research infrastructure services, beginning in Africa. We plan to address these issues by developing multilinear Persistent, Accessible, and Affordable Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) in Africa

Bridging the Gap: Implementing the Decentralized Archival Resource Key (dARK)
This presentation outlines the journey of dARK from proof of concept to service implementation. We will delve into the motivations driving the project, including the imperative for filling the gap between regions, the challenges faced by institutions in the Global South, and the limitations of centralized PID models. Furthermore, we will emphasize dARK's role as a complementary solution, designed to augment existing DOI infrastructure rather than compete with it
Perspectives for PID Policy Implementation
Large-scale initiatives to embed persistent identifiers (PIDs) within UK research present both barriers and prospects for partnership across the sector. Drawing on experiences leading national PID programmes, this session will explore common implementation issues faced by institutions. Presenters will discuss challenges such as stakeholder engagement, change management, and demonstrating long-term value. Barriers including mapping complex and diverse research workflows pose difficulties for individual organisations. However, commonalities also exist between contexts that could be addressed through collaboration. The session will therefore consider opportunities for the research community to work together towards shared (inter)national goals. This includes developing shared policies, aggregating PID metadata, and exploring sustainable funding models to tackle obstacles transcending local practice. Q&A block follows after the presentation
KRECon 2023 on Research(er) Assessment - Summary of Conference Contributions
The 11th Knowledge Research Education Conference – KRECon 2023: The Future of Research(er) Assessment organised by the National Library of Technology was held on 9–10 November 2023 in Prague under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation of the Czech Republic. The Conference brought together international experts in research assessment, along with representatives of the national actors in the Higher Education and R&D&I sector as well as early‑career researchers to discuss the future of research and researchers’ assessment in the Czech Republic and Europe. Reforming research assessment is one of the priorities of the European Research Area and the newly formed international Coalition for advancing research assessment (CoARA)
