    No full text
This presentation provides an introductory exploration into generative AI tools and their practical applications within academic research. Attendees will gain insight into the capabilities of prompt-based searches, enabling efficient and precise information retrieval. Additionally, the session will cover mapping tools that facilitate data visualization and analysis, and delve into text analysis techniques, demonstrating how AI can streamline and enhance content evaluation and interpretation

Don’t Judge a Book by Its PID Coverage

    No full text
This session will explore the scope, consequences and opportunities of the book metadata landscape as it applies broadly across outputs, stakeholders and use cases, particularly usage and impact reporting. Book expertise and even interest in books is not necessary or expected of attendees. The session will cover why book metadata matters across stakeholders, even those that don’t author, publish or use books and their metadata

    ORCID iD for Researchers

    Get PDF
ORCID iD is a persistent identifier that uniquely links researchers to their publications, data, and other research outputs. It helps distinguish authors with similar names and ensures visibility and reliable connections to their work. This presentation was part of the IOCB PhD Skills Day: Essential Researcher Competencies, held on November 20, 2024, at the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague. The goal of the presentation was to introduce doctoral students to the importance of ORCID iD for their academic and research careers. Key benefits of ORCID iD were presented, such as unique author identification, linking publications and research records, and supporting international collaboration. The presentation included practical demonstrations of registration, profile management, and integration with other systems to facilitate researchers' work.ORCID iD je trvalý identifikátor, který jednoznačně spojuje vědce s jejich publikacemi, daty a dalšími výstupy výzkumu.

Enhancing Europe PMC Grant Data with PIDs

    Get PDF
Research funders need to track the scholarly outputs that arise from projects they fund. This is no trivial task in a landscape of missing or incorrect citation of funding, and ambiguity between individuals and institutions with similar names. The use of PIDs within grant metadata can help tremendously in terms of disambiguation, citability, and facilitate integration into existing systems and workflows. Europe PMC is a life science literature database containing over 43.5 million journal and preprint abstracts and over 9.5 million full-text articles. It’s supported by 35 research funders who share their grant data with Europe PMC and is stored in a grant information system (GRIST). We will discuss the motivations for including PIDs in grant data, share our experience in technical implementation, and look at the progress made towards the incorporation of grants into the scholarly PID infrastructure

Characteristics of PID Policies: A Comprehensive Approach to Supporting Assessment

    No full text
This presentation will showcase innovative methodologies employed during the workshop, wherein participants were afforded the opportunity to evaluate the efficacy and suitability of PID policies delineated by two fictitious PID service providers constituting examples of a bad and a good PID policy. This achievement was facilitated through the utilisation of a tool developed by the FAIRCORE4EOSC project known as the Compliance Assessment Toolkit. This tool enables the evaluation of PID policies against a predefined set of criteria derived from the EOSC PID Policy. This interactive exercise provided invaluable insights into the practical implementation and governance of PID policies, thereby contributing to accelerated efforts to defining PID practices as part of PID or data policies within the research community
