Cultivation of bell peppers by farmers in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, tends to reach less optimum production, indicated by the average production per crop. The purpose of this study is to evaluate three aspects: (1) factors that affect productivity, (2) allocative efficiency, and (3) income of paprika farming in Pasirlangu Village. The Ordinary Least Squares method was used to analyze factors affecting productivity, the Marginal Product Value method to assess allocative efficiency, and the R/C ratio to calculate cultivation profits. The results showed that labor and seed inputs are inputs that have a significant effect on the productivity of agricultural businesses. In the efficiency analysis, seed input and husk charcoal are not efficient inputs, so these inputs need to be added. The income analysis shows that the paprika farming business in Pasirlangu Village is still profitable even though it is not optimal, as indicated by the ratio of profits and costs, which is > 1.   Keywords: bell pepper, income analysis, marginal product value, ordinary least squares, R/C rati

This study aims to determinethe physical properties and mechanical properties at axial (base, middle, and top) and radial (near the pith, middle, and near the bark) positions, as well as the relationship between the specific gravity and mechanical properties of Acacia aulacocarpa wood. Three 27-year-old trees planted at KHDTK Wanagama wereused. Wood physical and mechanical propertieswere tested per British Standard 373:1957. The statistical analysis used was a two-way ANOVA and a follow-up test of Tukey HSD. The results showed that the average moisture content was 98.95%; the green and air-dry sepesific gravity were 0.58 and 0.61. Radial, tangential, and longitudinal shrinkage from green to oven-dry conditions (total shrinkage) were 2.02%, 5.09%, and 0.33%. The tangential/radial (T/R) ratio was 2.80%. The static bending strength of stress at proportion limit, MoE, and MoR were 498.13 kg/cm2, 116.16x1000 kg/cm2, and 1043.68 kg/cm2, respectively. The compressive strength parallel to the grain and perpendicular to the grain were 596.05 kg/cm2 and 227.25 kg/cm2, respectively. The results of the variance analysis showed that the radial position factor has a significant effect on green moisture content, green and air-dry specificgravity, total radial shrinkage, T/R ratio, static bending strength at stress of proportion limit, MoE, MoR, compressive strength parallel to the grain, and compressive strength perpendicular to the grain. However, the axial position factor did not show any significant differences in the physical and mechanical properties of the wood. Furthermore, air-dry specific gravity has a significant moderate to high positive correlation with all mechanical properties. Pathogenic microbes are the limiting factor in increasing red chili productivity. These pathogens cause decreasing yield of red chili up to 50-100%. This research aimed to characterize and evaluate disease severity on 20 red chili genotypes caused by pathogenic microbes. The research was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The samples were 20 chili genotypes, namely UNIB K01, UNIB CGTS1, G35, G48, G56, G60, G67, G77, and G43 (developed by the University of Bengkulu researchers) and IPB C19, COPAY, IPB C495, IPB C14, DORSET NAGA, IPB C4, IPB PANJANG, LOKAL BENGKULU, SELOKA, SSP, and ANIES (developed by others). The results showed that four groups of pathogens attacked red chili, namely Fusarium oxysporum, which causes fusarium wilt disease; Cercospora sp., the cause of leaf spot disease; Colletotrichum sp. causes anthracnose; and virus groups. All tested red chili genotypes could be infected by these four pathogens in which the incubation period, disease incidence, and disease severity were insignificant. Of the nine genotypes developed by the University of Bengkulu researchers, the G35 genotype had the best potency to be developed as a disease-resistant genotype.    Keywords: Cercospora sp, Colletotrichum sp, Fusarium s, viru

The use of relatively high doses of inorganic fertilizers to increase yields in plantation-scale pineapple (Ananas comosus) cultivation can lead to new problems, such as being toxic to plants, polluting the environment, and increasing production costs. The utilization of rhizosphere microbes, such as potassium solubilizing bacteria (KSB) is expected can reduce the dose of inorganic K fertilizer application because it can dissolve potassium-fixed Al and Fe soil so that it is available to plants. This study aims to assess and characterize the potential of BPK in pineapple plantation areas. KSB evaluation was carried out based on the Potassium Solubility Index (IKK), besides that, it also carried out the characterization of bacteria that have the potential as CPC isolates. CPC was isolated from planting blocks with low and high production levels in the vegetative (V) and generative (G) phases with 5 replications. As many as 20 isolates from the CPC population on pineapple plantations were successfully isolated in this study. The lowest K solubility index of 0.6 was obtained in isolate RV1 and the highest, namely 1.2 in isolate RG1. Among these isolates, RG1 is Gram-positive and grows optimally at pH 5, temperature 30°C. Based on the results of the phylogenetic analysis, it is known that this potassium solubilizing isolate has the same level of similarity with the bacterium Bacillus subtilis.   Keywords: Bacillus, indigenous, potassium, solubilizing index, temperatur

Expanding agricultural land by using sloping dry land can be detrimental to the environment due to soil erosion and degradation. However, cover crops can be one of the technologies applied to reduce these risks. Arachis pintoi is one of cover crops that can be used as bio mulch on agricultural land. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of A. pintoi bio mulch on soil nutrient contents and maize plant growth at different slopes. A nested randomized block design was used in the study. Two levels of land used as the main factor and the type of mulch consisting of five levels (without mulch with weeding, without mulch without weeding, silver-black plastic mulch, straw mulch, and A. pintoi bio mulch) were used as the second factor. The results showed that A. pintoi bio mulch significantly increased the P content of the soil and could potentially increase several other macronutrients, especially C-organic, N, and Ca. The use of A. pintoi bio mulch with a cover technique that was left to cover the entire soil surface suppressed the growth and yield of maize plants compared to the control treatment.   Keywords: cover crops, mulch, ornamental peanut, soil fertility, rice stra

Bogor is one of the cities with a very rapid development rate, so the need for sand for construction is very high. There are plenty of sand sources in Bogor, feeding by 2 major rivers and 7 tributaries, including the Ciapus River. This river is a job opportunity for sand miners. Based on the study results, the traditional sand mining model is applied. The income from the sand miners is IDR100,000/m3, while the income from the collectors who also distribute the sand to the users is IDR150,000/delivery. The positive impact of this activity is that it can reduce sedimentation in the Ciapus River, while the negative impact is that it caused a change in the shape and function of the river and the road damage around the mining due to the sand transportation, but not on the road within the housing area. In the long term, this activity needs more attention because until now, the Bogor Kota Government still needs to have a regulation regarding type C mining.   Keywords: type C mining, mining law, sand mining, sand transportation, traditional minin
