    The Influence of Referral Marketing and Customer Trust on Purchasing Decisions Through Customer Satisfaction at PT. Dharma Lautan Utama Surabaya

    Purpose: This research is entitled "The Influence of Referral Marketing and Customer Trust on Purchasing Decisions through Customer Satisfaction at PT. Dharma Lautan Utama Surabaya". The purpose of this study is to describe referral marketing, customer trust, purchase decisions and customer satisfaction in the company, as well as to determine and analyze the influence of referral marketing and customer trust on purchasing decisions both directly and through customer satisfaction. This research is an explanatory research with a quantitative approach. Design/Methodology/Approach: The population in this study is customers who are already customers of sea transportation companies and ferry crossings at PT. Dharma Lautan Utama Surabaya. The number of samples taken in this study was as many as 100 respondents from customers who had subscribed to the Marine Transportation Company and ferry crossings PT. Dharma Lautan Utama Surabaya is more than one year old and uses saturated sampling. Data collection was carried out using the questionnaire dissemination method. The variables studied in this study are purchasing decision as a dependent variable, referral marketing and customer trust as independent variables, and customer satisfaction as an intervening variable. The data analysis technique is SEM using Partical Least Square (PLS). Findings: The results of the analysis show that referral marketing has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. Customer trust has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. Referral marketing has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions. Customer trust has a positive and insignificant effect on purchasing decisions. Customer satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Referral marketing has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions through customer satisfaction.     Exploring the Challenges Faced by Small Insurance Brokers in Achieving Sustainable Growth: A Case Study in Botswana's Insurance Industry

    Purpose: This study assesses the challenges faced by small insurance brokers in Botswana, focusing on regulatory dynamics, market conditions, financial constraints, technological disparities, consumer preferences, marketing limitations, distribution challenges, service constraints, and training needs. Design/methodology/approach: An online questionnaire was distributed to 50 small insurance brokers in Botswana, with a response rate of 70%. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 key stakeholders, including regulators and customers, to gain deeper insights. Findings: The findings highlight significant barriers such as complex regulatory procedures, limited access to capital, technological challenges, consumer biases towards larger firms, and inadequate marketing and distribution channels.  Research limitations/implications: The study's limitations include a focus on a specific geographic region and the reliance on self-reported data, which may introduce biases.  Practical implications: The study underscores the need for streamlined regulatory processes, innovative financial solutions, digital transformation, customer-centric strategies, and strategic partnerships. Originality/value: This paper provides actionable insights for stakeholders to support the sustainable growth of small insurance brokers in Botswana, fostering a more inclusive and robust insurance sector

    THE EFFECT OF OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE ON OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH DISCLOSURES

    Purpose: This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of ownership structure on occupational safety and health disclosure in mining companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange in 2020 - 2022 through the perspective of stakeholder theory. Design/methodology/approach: The research method uses a quantitative approach with secondary data totaling 54 annual reports obtained using purposive sampling technique and data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression. Findings: This study shows that foreign ownership and managerial ownership have significant positive influence on occupational safety and health disclosure, while institutional ownership has no influence. Practical implications: The results of this study can be a consideration for the management of the company to design what is the right strategy regarding how the management maximizes the value of the company which will indirectly increase the benefits of managers who are also owners of the company.     The mobile smart water supply infrastructure powered by renewable energy in Errabu Village, Sumenep, Madura, Indonesia, aims to enhance agricultural food security. This system integrates smart technology and renewable energy to optimize water resource management and support agriculture in impoverished and underdeveloped areas. Mobile and Smart Concept, allows flexibility in water distribution, enabling access to hard-to-reach areas. Utilizes sensors and IoT devices to monitor and manage water usage efficiently. Renewable Energy, utilizes solarenergy to operate the water supply system, reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Enhances sustainability by reducing carbon emissions and environmental impact. Solutions for Dry Land, employs water-saving drip or sprinkler irrigation technology to boost productivity in dry lands. Optimizes water usage for agriculture, thereby increasing yields on previously unproductive land. Food Security, with better access to water, farmers can enhance their agricultural output, contributing to local food security. Enables farmers to grow a variety of crops, increasing food diversity and income. Social and Economic Impact, enhances the capacity of local farmers through training and access to new technologies. By improving agricultural yields, it is expected to reduce poverty levels in the village.     Entrepreneurship and poverty reduction; opportunities and challenges. A case study of Lusaka district of Zambia

    The study was prompted by high poverty levels in Lusaka despite several poverty interventions in place. Respondents for the study were drawn from beneficiaries of poverty reduction intervention through stratified random sampling and structured questionnaires where used. Descriptive statistics were employed with results indicating that 97% of respondents categorized themselves as poor. The reason provided for the status quo was inability to generate enough income for normal livelihoods.  An exploration was then done on the role of entrepreneurship with respective challenges and opportunities in increasing incomes and contributing to poverty reduction. Content analysis of literature was done and results highlighted major huddles to entrepreneurship development as access to finance challenges, undeveloped markets, lack of supportive infrastructure and low entrepreneurial competence. This was in the midst of favorable environment supporting the thriving of entrepreneurship.  Recommendations were to remedy identified challenges which if implemented, could lead to thriving entrepreneurship and poverty reduction

    The Intervening role of Absorptive Capacity in the Nexus of Effectual Actions and Performance in Small Businesses

    Purpose: This study interrogates the interfering role of absorptive capacity in the relationship between the effectual actions of small businesses and their performance. Design/methodology/approach: Structured questionnaires were used to generate primary data from 685 small businesses from a variety of sectors in South Africa. The data was used to interrogate the hypothesized relationships using the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique. Findings: The findings report a significantly positive relationship between effectuation and small business performance. Further, it is revealed that absorptive capacity partially mediates the relationship between effectuation and small business performance. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of this study include the use of primary data from a sample of small businesses in South Africa and dependence on specific modeling techniques. The implications of this research provide a deeper understanding of the mediating effects of absorptive capacity on the relationship between effectual actions and small business performance. Practical implications: This study provides fresh insights into the mediating effects of the absorptive capacity capability of small businesses in the continuous interaction between their effectual actions and performance. As such, it highlights the connection between the growing theory of effectuation and existing theories in the field of management sciences. This study enables the emergence of knowledge that could spur small businesses to effectively navigate the endemic uncertainties prevalent in their contexts. Originality/value: This study contributes to the understanding of the role of absorptive capacity in the relationship between effectual actions and small business performance, thus adding value to the literature on small business management.     The Influence of Organizational Culture, OCB, Work Ethics on Employee Performance in PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Cirebon City

      Purpose: This study investigates the influence of organizational culture, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), and Work Ethics on employee performance at PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Kota Cirebon. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study uses quantitative research methods. With questionnaire and observation data collection techniques. The sample used in this study was 158 respondents. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. With data analysis techniques using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests in the form of normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroskedasticity tests, determination tests, and hypothesis tests. The analysis method used is the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) Version 16.0 method. Findings: The findings show that organizational culture partially has no positive effect on employee performance, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) and Work Ethic partially have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Simultaneously, the combined effect of organizational culture, OCB, and Work Ethic has a significant effect on the performance of PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Cirebon City employees with an influence of 36.3%. Research Limitations/Implications: One limitation of this study is the focus solely on employees of PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Kota Cirebon, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Future research could explore other organizational contexts to enhance the generalizability of the results. Practical Implications: The findings suggest that fostering Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) and nurturing a strong Work Ethics among employees can significantly enhance their performance in organizations such as PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Kota Cirebon. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the existing literature by examining the combined influence of organizational culture, OCB, and Work Ethics on employee performance, particularly in the context of a public utility company like PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Kota Cirebon.       This study aims to test : (1) Effect of the work environment on employee performance PT PLN (Persero) Generation Implementing Unit Asam Asam. (2) Effect of compensation on employee performance PT  Cedefindo Bekasi (3) Effect of work environment and compensation on employee performance PT  Cedefindo Bekasi. The design of this research is quantitative research. Populasi penelitian seluruh karyawan PT  Cedefindo Bekasi and a sample of 64 respondents. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires about the work environment and compensation to 64 respondents. This study uses validity and reliability tests to measure validity and reliability, and using the classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, F test, t test and coefficient of deremination (R2). The results of the study show : (1) The work environment has a significant influence on employee performance. (2) Compensation has no significant effect on employee performance. (3) Work environment and compensation together have a significant influence on employee performance

    The Impact of Brand Equity and Promotion on Toyota Customer Loyalty at the "XYZ" Dealership in Surabaya City

    Purpose: to find out how the influence of brand equity and promotion on Toyota consumer loyalty at the "XYZ" Surabaya dealership Design/methodology/approach: The method of data processing and analysis is using quantitative analysis which includes the interpretation of data obtained in research and the results of data processing that has been carried out by providing information and explanations, as well as quantitative analysis which includes validity and reliability tests, multiple regression analysis, hypothesis tests through F test and T test and regression coefficient analysis (R2). Findings: the influence of brand equity and promotion has a good influence on customer loyalty. Based on the results of the analysis, the indicators in this study are valid and the variables are reliable. The results of this study show that there is a simultaneous influence on brand equity and promotion variables on customer loyalty. The results of this study also show that brand equity and promotion variables have a significant partial effect on customer loyalty. In the determination test, there was an influence of 60.5% of the independent variables (brand equity and promotion) on the dependent variable (customer loyalty). Meanwhile, the remaining 39.5% were influenced by other variables and were not included in this study.
