Exploratie van Latchup in het Design-Technologie en Systeem-Technologie co-optimalisering scaling tijdperk
Nowadays the use of advanced technologies is the main driver for the semiconductor industry as they allow to increase functionality for the same chip area. To enable more compute performance per chip several aspects have to be taken into consideration. First, the device scaling can be enabled by using different materials for the channel. Moreover, scaling can be implemented as a device architecture in the frame of design-technology co-optimization (DTCO) for example moving towards complimentary field-effect transistors (CFETs). Other option is a Backside Power Delivery Network (BS-PDN) which decouples the signal and power supply and reduces the parasitics Secondly, scaling effect could be enabled at system level which is referred to system-technology co-optimization (STCO) and can bring additional opportunities to increase the chip functionality. In this work the main aspects of the BS-PDN implementation are introduced.
However in most semiconductor qualification latchup (LU) prevails as a high-current issue in complimentary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technologies. The activation of a parasitic thyrisor path can lead to a reduced circuit performance or even chip burnout. LU is considered as a well-known issue in mature technologies. However it was not investigated for BS-PDN technology options before. In this work we perform in-depth investigation including measurement and simulation results of the LU issue in BS-PDN options such as sub-um wafer thinning, buried power rail (BPR) and active backside (BS) as BS contacts. Moreover transient-induced LU is covered in this work revealing the impact of different pulse characteristics on LU immunity in BS-PDN.
Finally, as one of the STCO applications, LU at cryogenic temperatures is extensively studied in this work. All these results can bring a new insight to existing LUproblems and solutions to overcome it in advanced technology options.status: Publishe

This PhD research project explores the development and application of enabling technologies in organic synthesis, focusing on process intensification using alternative energy inputs like microwave irradiation, photoredox catalysis, electrosynthesis, and flow chemistry. Herein, we aimed to explore the potential benefit of three novel therapies for prolapse and/or urinary incontinence. Both conditions are common in women, negatively affect their quality of life, and the current treatment options to which the novel treatments would be an alternative, have their shortcomings.
In summary, we demonstrated that though vaginal laser application improves prolapse and stress urinary incontinence symptoms as much as pelvic floor exercises do and without adverse events, their treatment effect was short lasting. In terms of surgical treatment of urinary incontinence in the presence of prolapse, we did not implement cervicosacropexy or vaginosacropexy, because of the lack of robust evidence. We reviewed our outcomes of sacrocolpopexy following the introduction of lightweight mesh, demonstrating a reduction in number of graft related complications without compromising subjective and objective outcomes. We also demonstrated the safety and efficacy of redo sacrocolpopexy. We further demonstrated that operation times of sacrocolpopexy could be reduced by using synthetic glue without increasing hospital costs. Finally, the development of a validated automatized workflow analysis of this intervention will further help us to investigate and optimize surgical skills and assess the impact of procedural changes.status: Publishe

Evaluating the feasibility of episode-contingent experience sampling burst designs
Experience sampling methodology has been widely used to study the links between emotion dynamics and mental health. Most studies rely on time-contingent sampling schemes, with momentary questionnaires being sent at prespecified times, usually multiple hours apart. The present study investigated the added value of episode-contingent (EC) burst designs, which may shed further light on emotion dynamics by triggering a series of closely timed beeps upon detecting emotional episodes. Using data from three EC studies (N = 185), we investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of two types of EC designs: signal-based (EC-Signal; bursts initiated when emotion ratings exceed thresholds) and event-based (EC-Event; bursts initiated by participants). Both EC designs are effective in capturing emotional episodes, but the quantity and intensity of the episodes varied depending on which of these two designs was used and the valence of the episodes. Regarding feasibility, compared to EC-Event, EC-Signal typically led to higher participant burden and lower compliance for both regular and follow-up beeps. Moreover, compliance tended to decrease over time and burden tended to increase for both EC-Signal and time-contingent, but not for EC-Event. In conclusion, both EC approaches showed feasibility but have distinct advantages and drawbacks. To select the best approach, researchers should carefully balance these trade-offs to maximize utility within specific research contexts.sponsorship: The authors have no conflicts of interest to disclose. Art has no gender, only gender bias
The Abstract Expressionism movement was predominantly showcased by men artists, which historically lead to the exclusion of women from the art canon. Across three experiments (N=800), we examined the attribution of male authorship using 160 Abstract Expressionist paintings, and investigated whether artworks created by men and women are evaluated differently. Participants were more likely to attribute male authorship to the artworks, regardless of the artists’ gender, specifically if the artworks had higher levels of black paint and angular lines. Differences in art history relevant attributes and subjective aesthetic ratings were driven by stylistic differences between artists, not by their gender. Our findings highlight gender biases in evaluations of art, emphasizing ongoing challenges for women artists and the need to reassess societal biases in artistic recognition.sponsorship: The views and opinions expressed are those of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Research Council Executive Agency.
