The study determined the arithmetic verbal problem solving skills of primary school students and to examine them according to grade level and mathematics achievement variables. The study was designed according to the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. The population of the research consists of students studying in public primary schools in the central districts of a large city in the south of Turkey. The sample consisted of 1,865 students determined according to the disproportionate stratified sampling method. The "arithmetic verbal problem test for students" prepared by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the students were most successful in the problems of combining and separating with “consequence unknown”, then “with change unknown” and “initial unknown”, but they were less successful in part-whole type problems. Thus, it was concluded that as the mathematics achievement and grade levels of the students increased, their success in solving verbal problems also increased

Advances in technology and the implementation of online learning require all parties in educational institutions, especially teachers, to be able to use technology. Digital literacy skills are needed to support the learning process. The purpose of this study was to measure the digital literacy skills of teachers through the Rasch model from a gender perspective during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Palembang, Indonesia. A quantitative research method using Rasch analysis was applied. The results showed that the ability of teachers in digital literacy can be categorized as very high (three people), high (28 people), moderate (63 people), and low (two people) and showed that there are no question items that only favor one of the genders. The results showed that the male teachers in this study had a lower level of digital literacy skills than the female teachers

    Get PDF
Handling of behavior problems in children with special educational needs (CSEN) in the classroom is urgent for the classroom’s conducive atmosphere. Therefore, a review needs to be conducted to determine what steps the teacher may take for coping purposes in handling the behavior problems of CSEN, to determine the predictors for handling the behavior problems of CSEN, to identify the analysis basis for determining teacher predictors, and to figure out the effects of the behavior of CSEN based on the predictors chosen by the teacher. A survey was conducted on 109 teachers of CSEN. This research used a Google Forms questionnaire containing a list of statements to be chosen by teachers as instrument, and analysis was carried out by computing the frequencies at which the teachers chose the statements in percentage and by comparing teachers’ statements on the way they handled behaviors. The results show that the teachers were more inclined toward problem-focused coping (PFC), the predictor chosen was intimacy control, the teacher directed the children to do a task at the time a behaviour problem arose, and in choosing predictors, the teachers would rather calm the children down and give them comfort, making the children calmed

Anchored on the principles of IcLL and through the employment of survey to elicit responses of the language teachers as to the integration of IcLL principles in language classrooms, results revealed that teachers perceive IcLL to be integrated in their classrooms to a great extent. Specifically, the principles of active construction and social interaction are integrated to a very high extent while the principles making connections, reflection, and responsibility were perceived to be integrated to a high extent. As regards classroom activities, the teachers favored the employment of discussions, lectures, writing tasks, oral reports, role plays, small group tasks, simulations or skits and collaborative learning activities in transmitting the target culture
