Developing future primary school teachers' communication through pedagogy of partnership
The study of the role of the pedagogy of partnership (PoP) in building the professional competence of future primary school teachers is relevant in the context of modern educational and pedagogical transformations, which require the preparation of teachers for new challenges and creating a favourable learning environment. Therefore, the aim of our study was to check the effect of observing the pedagogical partnership principles in the educational process on the development of the communicative competence of future primary school teachers. The study employed the following psychodiagnostic methods: the Thomas-Kilmann conflict mode instrument (TKI), Myers-Briggs type indicator (MBTI), Snyder’s self-control in communication. The implementation of the PoP programme in higher education institutions (HEIs) has a positive effect on the development of the communicative competence of future teachers, in particular, on developing the ability for self-control and increasing the scope of psychological knowledge. The study revealed some important correlations. Our results indicate that cooperation and the ability to make compromises are directly related to the communicative abilities of future teachers. Further research can be focused on studying the impact of pedagogical partnership on other aspects of future teacher training, such as methodical mastery, motivation for learning and development
Parenting style and students’ happiness in China
This study examined the dynamic between perceived authoritarian parenting style (PAPS), and subjective wellbeing (SWB) among purposively recruited 423 college students in China. Expectancy value beliefs (EVB), fear of failure (FOF), and competitiveness were taken as mediators. The data were analyzed using Bootstrap method of 5000 sample and 95% confidence interval. The results revealed a significant negative total effect of PAPS on SWB. Additionally, two indirect paths were found to be significant: the mediation of FOF (Path 2) and the serial mediation of FOF and competitiveness (Path 6). These findings suggest that the perception of authoritarian parenting style is a negative predictor of students' happiness, and that FOF and competitiveness played important mediating roles in this relationship. These findings have important implications for educators, parents, and policymakers who aim to promote positive academic and personal outcomes for college students. The results suggest the need for interventions that address the negative impact of PAPS on students' wellbeing, and the importance of fostering positive beliefs about the value of education and academic achievement, as well as reducing FOF and promoting healthy competition
Impact of pre-service teachers’ self-regulation and self-efficacy on their mathematics performance in blended learning
This research investigated the pre-service teachers’ self-regulation, self-efficacy, and mathematics performance in blended learning during the post Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in a state university using a descriptive correlational design. There were 201 pre-service teachers who were identified using simple random sampling. They answered the two-set survey questionnaire, which assessed their self-regulation and self-efficacy, while their performances were assessed using their grades in the subject. The data gathered were treated using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that they had high self-regulation while they had a very high level of self-efficacy. At the same time, they had a very satisfactory performance in mathematics. Moreover, their self-regulation in terms of planning, monitoring, and adjusting was significantly correlated with their math performance while reflecting is not. However, no significant relationship was found between their self-efficacy and mathematics performance. Thus, instructors are encouraged to conduct monitoring during blended learning to encourage pre-service teachers to maintain their high level of self-regulation and self-efficacy in learning mathematics. In addition, future researchers may explore the same variables to validate the findings of the study because these findings are limited only to pre-service teachers and were conducted during the post COVID-19 pandemic
Effect of the inquiry-based nature of science argumentation instructional model in scientific literacy skills
The purpose of this study is to see how the inquiry-based nature of science (NOS) argumentation (IB-NOSA) instructional model affects scientific literacy skills. This research used a quasi-experimental method. The design of this research is a pretest-posttest control group design. This study describes the significance of the differences between participants who learn through IB-NOSA, guided inquiry, and discovery learning model. The subjects of this study were 288 students of grade VIII in the 2022/2023 academic year from three junior high schools in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data analysis in this study used an analysis of variances (ANOVA) mixed design. The result showed that there was a difference between the pretest-posttest scores of scientific literacy skills in each group. There was a significant increase in the pretest-posttest scores of scientific literacy skills in each group. Effect size showed that the IB-NOSA in increased scientific literacy skills was 0.79; the guided inquiry was 0.76; and the discovery learning was 0.71. The IB-NOSA was the most effective in improving scientific literacy skills with a gain score of 0.49 (medium). So, it can be concluded that the IB-NOSA instructional model can be used as an alternative solution in improving scientific literacy skills
The role of three education centers in promoting entrepreneurship careers for vocational students
The potential for vocational students to achieve success in entrepreneurship is considerable, especially since they have acquired specific skills that are in line with their area of specialization since the beginning of their vocational schooling. However, schools cannot be alone in promoting entrepreneurial careers among vocational students. This study aims to measure the role of three educational centers, in influencing self-efficacy, entrepreneurial intention and career choice as an entrepreneur. This study was approached with a quantitative approach using structural equation modeling (SEM), the sample in the study was 354 vocational students. Data analysis through four stages, namely exploratory factor analysis, normality and outlier tests, confirmatory factor analysis and hypotheses testing (structural model). The results showed that the three education centers significantly influence selfefficacy and entrepreneurial intention which in turn can encourage students to choose a career as an entrepreneur. This research contributes to the understanding of how the three education centers can be an important catalyst in shaping a generation of resilient and innovative entrepreneurs
Differentiation instruction publications in physical education: bibliometric analysis of the last ten years
Research and publications on differentiation instruction in various subjects have developed rapidly in the world. Unfortunately, this trend is not directly proportional to the subject of physical education, even though differentiation instruction is the latest learning trend that is based on student learning needs. This research aims to analyze the metrics and visualization of differentiation instruction publications over the last ten years (2013-2023) using the literature review method. Google Scholar inspection using the Publish or Perish application only found nine articles (out of 16 articles) that met the VOSviewer visualization analysis criteria. As a result, the highest publication metrics were only three articles in 2014 and 53 citations as the highest top citations in 2019 for two articles. Network term differentiation is limited to three terms: analysis, lesson, and education. The VOSviewer visualization confirms that differentiation instruction has great potential to be developed in physical education to contribute to fulfilling students' learning experiences by their learning potential preferences. Future research can consider aspects of differentiation instruction that are not limited to teachers evaluating student learning outcomes based on differentiation instruction, and using differentiation instruction to improve various skills that help students survive in real life
FLM-based AFL improves physics engagement and conceptual understanding
Assessment for learning (AFL) is a pedagogical approach that enhances student learning outcomes through high-quality feedback. This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating the feedback loop model (FLM) with AFL to improve students' engagement and understanding of physics, specifically in kinematics and motion dynamics. The study employs a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative and qualitative data to assess the impact of the FLM-based AFL approach. A one-group pretest-posttest design was used, supported by research instruments that measured student engagement and their conceptual grasp of physics. The findings indicate that integrating FLM into AFL led to significant improvements, evidenced by Cohen’s effect size of 1.91, highlighting a substantial impact on student learning. These results affirm that FLM-based AFL positively affects student engagement and understanding of physics. The study contributes to the existing research on effective assessment methods, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers in developing enhanced assessment and teaching strategies. This study emphasizes the potential benefits of incorporating FLM-based AFL in diverse educational settings to elevate student learning experiences and outcomes
The effectiveness of case method in developing intrapreneurship among business students
Intrapreneurship skill has considered as the alternative learning outcomes of entrepreneurship education. However, entrepreneurship teachers need a complex learning program to develop intrapreneurship among business students. At the same time, The Ministry of Education and Culture of The Republic of Indonesia recommends university teachers implement case methods to deliver complex learning environments and build critical skills among students. Therefore, this study aims to i) examine the effect of micro small medium enterprise (MSME) cases on the intrapreneurship of business students, ii) investigate the influence of MSME cases on flow experience in entrepreneurship education and iii) investigate the effect of flow experience during entrepreneurship education on intrapreneurship skill. We used field experiments on entrepreneurship and digital business student in business development courses. The result indicates that the case method effectively developed student intrapreneurship skill and flow experience during the course positively impacting student intrapreneurship skill
Interlanguage impoliteness in criticism by the English learners from Javanese background over social status and distance
The present study analyses the impoliteness of criticism over social status and distance, incorporating the concept of "levels of imposition." Criticism as a fundamental speech act is commonly used by people in the modern era, either in the digital world or the real world. It usually contains impoliteness if it embodies negative behavior, conveying criticism. This study belonged to an interlanguage pragmatics study and used forty participants from English language learners having Javanese backgrounds. It also applied the role play technique to take data to be analyzed using mixed method analysis. The data showed that the criticizer performed various impoliteness strategies in criticism, considering familiar and unfamiliar relationships in different social status levels. They mainly performed bald-on-record impoliteness and adhered to other strategies such as negative, positive, and mock politeness. Besides that, delivering criticism in high intonation was also perceived as a part of impoliteness. Therefore, it suggested conducting another research concerning paralinguistics and impoliteness in various communication contexts
Philosophical analysis of Mortimer J. Adler's Christian education and global education management
The present research shows the absurdity of education, especially education management, in the posthumanist schema. Posthumanists seem to want to form their own group, but researchers see that posthumanism is not new, especially in the world of education. Philosopher Mortimer J. Adler, in the framework of perennialism, shows the structure of education, especially in America, which, according to researchers, is relevant in Indonesia. Research findings are based on qualitative research with data retrieval methods from literature studies. Results showed that Mortimer J. Adler's philosophical thinking emphasizes the expansion of education management in both depth and fragility by and through learners, parents, teachers and related parties in the mecca of an independent curriculum
