Tourists’ Evacuation Intentions Following Natural Disasters : Taking into Account Multiple Combinations of Conditions
地域住民より地域の情報に疎い観光客は支援を必要とする要援護者とも捉えられつつある。また,観光に関しては,現在でこそ新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大で縮小しているが,今後以前の水準に戻る可能性も高いため,災害から観光客を守る仕組みを整えることが求められている。観光客を守るために避難行動は必要な行動であるが,既存研究では一つの行動特性や要因に着目してきたが,本研究では複数状況の組み合わせを考慮した避難行動の抽出を試みる。京都市と姫路市に滞在する観光客382 名から調査票を回収し,決定木分析を用いて避難開始と,経路選択のルールを分析した。その結果,「経路誘導に関する誘導の有無」,「経路幅」,「外国人観光客であるかどうか」,「歩行経験」,「他の観光客の経路選択」などが,経路選択に影響を与えていることが明らかになり,これらの要因を考慮した観光経路の設定,避難場所の設定,それらの実現のための工夫の必要性を述べた。Tourists, who are less familiar with local information than residents, are often those most in need following a disaster. In order that tourism may soon return to normal pre-pandemic levels, there is a pressing need to support tourists immediately following a disaster, and evacuation measures are also necessary to protect them. Much research has focused on a single behavioral characteristic or factor; however this study aims to extract evacuation behavior by considering multiple combinations of situations. The author collected questionnaires from 382 tourists staying in Kyoto and Himeji cities and analyzed the start of evacuation and the rules for route selection according to decision tree analysis. As a result, it was found that the existence of“ route guidance,”“ route width,”“ whether the tourist is a foreigner or not,”“ walking experience,” and“ route selection of other tourists” are important factors in route selections following a disaster. Comparison of various commercially available cinnamon barks using NMR metabolomics and the quantification of coumarin by quantitative NMR methods
Cinnamon bark is an important spice worldwide. In this study, the chemical diversity of various commercially available cinnamon barks that difered in their production areas and utility applications (culinary spice or medicines) were investigated by the use of 1 H NMR metabolomics. Our results indicated that principle component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) of the 1 H NMR spectra of the cinnamon bark methanolic extracts including the deduction of their species by nucleotide sequence analysis enabled diferentiation of the cinnamon barks according to their species, production areas and utility applications. The constituents of Vietnam cinnamon were found to difer signifcantly from the other samples investigated based on PCA score plots and HCA constellation dendrograms. Coumarin was found to be a key compound for the discrimination of Vietnamese cinnamon by multivariate analysis of the 1
H NMR spectral data and direct comparison of the 1 H NMR spectra. In addition, coumarin was quantifed using quantitative NMR methods. As a result, coumarin was contained in Vietnamese cinnamon at a higher level compared to other cinnamons. This study indicated that 1 H NMR metabolomics could deduce spices, utility, and producing area of commercially available cinnamon barks. Furthermore, combining quantitative 1 H NMR methods with 1 H NMR metabolomics enable quantifcation of coumarin in cinnamon bark on a single measurement
Screening for inhibitory effects of crude drugs on furin-like enzymatic activities
The spike (S) protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) contains a cleavage motif R-X-X-R for furin-like enzymes at the boundary of the S1/S2 subunits. The cleavage of the site by cellular proteases is essential for S protein activation and virus entry. We screened the inhibitory effects of crude drugs on in vitro furin-like enzymatic activities using a fluorogenic substrate with whole-cell lysates. Of the 124 crude drugs listed in the Japanese Pharmacopeia, aqueous ethanolic extract of Cnidii Monnieris Fructus, which is the dried fruit of Cnidium monnieri Cussion, significantly inhibited the furin-like enzymatic activities. We further fractionated the plant extract and isolated the two active compounds with the inhibitory activity, namely, imperatorin and osthole, whose IC50 values were 1.45 mM and 9.45 µM, respectively. Our results indicated that Cnidii Monnieris Fructus might exert inhibitory effects on furin-like enzymatic activities, and that imperatorin and osthole of the crude drug could be potential inhibitors of the motif cleavage
Characteristics of Beni ume: an endemic species to Japanese plum in Ogose town
The aim of this study is to elucidate characteristics of Japanese plum “Beni ume”, an endemic species in Ogose town, Saitama. We conducted componential analyses of immature and mature Beni ume in order to compare with component values of other species. Our results demonstrated that contents of βcarotene and cryptoxanthin in the Beni ume were increased by maturation, and those compo nents of the mature Beni ume markedly exceeded other several species selected to the comparative investigation. Especially, the mature Beni ume contained a high βcarotene content similar to “Zizo” whose high βcarotene content was reported. Component analysis of organic acids showed that the Beni ume contained relatively large amounts of citric acid contrary to malic acid. In terms of food safety, amygdalin, one of cyanogenetic glycosides, was undetected in both of the immature and mature Beni ume. These finding suggested that βcarotene, cryptoxanthin, and citric acid might contribute to healthpromoting effects of the Beni ume. However, we could not fully reveal the bene fits of Beni ume as a functional food. Further studies are required to elucidate the efficacy of the Beni ume for health maintenance and promotion.論文 / Article 編集:城西大学・城西短期大学地域連携センター紀要編集委員
