A Report on Japanese Language Support for JSL Elementary and Junior-High Students Studying at Local Schools During the Covid-19 Pandemic : March 2020 Through December 2021
これは、コロナ禍での、外国ルーツ(日本語が第2 言語=JSL)の主に小中学生の日本語・教科学習支援の実践報告である。支援団体の紹介の後、設立初期、コロナ前、パンデミック中の支援の詳細を報告した。中の2 つのエピソードは、外国ルーツの小中学生の学びの基本的な課題として、外国籍の場合は日本で義務教育を受ける法的権利がないということ、JSL(日本語が第2 言語)の子の特別支援学級の在籍数が多くなりがちな背景を明らかにした。最後に、来るべき移民時代へのヒントを提示した。This is a report on a Japanese language support initiative for JSL elementary and junior-high school
students who study at local Japanese schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. The report begins by outlining the establishment of a volunteer Japanese language organization, before discussing how the
organization supported JSL students between March 2020 and December 2021. A pair of episodes during the pandemic revealed fundamental issues for JSL students. The first is, students without Japanese nationality have no legal right to receive compulsory education in Japan. The second is that irrationally higher number of JSL students are enrolled in special needs classes compared to native Japanese students.The report finishes by outlining some advice regarding handling future migrants’ schooling in Japan.論文 / Article
The Adriatic Question and Japan
論文では、1919 年のパリ講和会議における「アドリア海問題」に関する日本の見解や対策を検討する。この問題は、1915 年のロンドン秘密条約の締結に関連しており、かつてはハプスブルグ帝国に属していたアドリア海の東海岸に対するイタリアと新たに形成されたユーゴスラビア王国との間の領土紛争の将来に影響を及ぼした。論文では、日本外交資料の分析を通して、講和会議におけるイタリア代表団との日本関係やアドリア海問題の背景についても解説する。The present paper explores Japan’s views regarding the Adriatic Question during the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. The question was linked to the conclusion of the secret Treaty of London from 1915, which determined the future of the territorial dispute between Italy and the newly formed Yugoslav Kingdom over the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea that formerly belonged to the Austro-Hungarian
Empire. Based on the analysis of Japanese diplomatic sources, the paper sheds light on Japanese relations with the Italian delegation in Paris and perceptions about the Adriatic controversy.論文 / Article

Consideration of Changes in the Electric Power Industry in 10 Years after the Great East Japan Earthquake From the Perspective of 3E(Environment, Economic Efficiency, Energy Security)+S(safety)
2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災より今年で10年が経過した。震災影響により発生した福島原子力発電所事故は甚大な被害を発生させ,廃炉対応や想定外の地震の大きさや津波の高さに対する対策など,その対応は現在も続いている。一方,世界においては環境という視点で2015年12月に温室効果ガス排出削減等の為,新たな国際的枠組みとしてフランスのパリにて開催された気候変動枠組条約第21回締約国会議(COP21)で「パリ協定」が採択され,現在先進国・途上国全ての締約国がCO2などの温室効果ガス削減に取り組んでおり,2021年11月に開催されたCOP26において世界共通の長期目標として産業革命前からの気温上昇を1.5℃目標とすることが文書へも明記された。こうした中,電力業界では様々に構造変革に向けた取り組みがこの10年で進められてきたが,本論文ではこの電力業界の業界変化を先行研究レビューの知見,同じライフライン事業である水道事業の事例なども踏まえながら分析を行い,3E(自給率・経済効率性・環境適合)+S(安全性)の視点から考察した。Ten years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11,2011.The Fukushima nuclear power plant accident caused by the impact of the earthquake caused enormous damage, and measures such as decommissioning, unexpected magnitude of earthquakes, and height of tsunami are still ongoing. On the other hand, in the world, from the viewpoint of the environment, the 21s tConference of the Parties to the Climate Change Framework Convention(COP21)was held in Paris, France as a new international framework to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in December 2015. The "Paris Agreement" was adopted in Japan, and all parties to developed and developing countries are currently working to reduce greenhouse gases such as CO2.At COP26 held in November 2021, the in dustrial revolution was set as a universal long-term goal. It was also stipulated in the document that the target for the temperature rise from before was 1.5℃.Under these circumstances, various efforts for structural reform have been promoted in the electric power industry in the last 10 years, but in this paper, weanalyze the industry change of this electric power industry and take the water supply business, which is the same lifeline business, as an example. Characteristics of Earnings Quality by Industry
本稿の目的は,日本企業を対象に業種別にみた利益の質の特徴を考察することにある。利益の質について,先行研究で用いられてきた代表的な7指標を取り上げている。この7指標の内容と測定方法について検討を行ったうえで,それぞれの測定値を算出し,業種別にみた利益の質について考察を行う。そして,この考察結果を踏まえ,製造業・非製造業,規制業種・非規制業種または高・低競争業種といった業種間にみられる利益の質にかかわる差異を差の検定を通じて分析する。This paper is aimed at investigating the characteristics of earnings quality by industry for Japanese companies. It covers seven representative indicators that have been used in previous studies on the quality of earnings. After the discussion about each content and measurement method, the measured values are calculated for each industry. Then, examining the earnings quality by industry. Based on the results of this examination, Ianalyze the differences in the earnings quality between industries such as manufacturing/nonmanufacturing, regulated / non-regulated industries, or high / low competition industries through the t-test.論文 / Article
Refined Hermite–Hadamard Inequalities and Some Norm Inequalities
It is well known that the Hermite–Hadamard inequality (called the HH inequality) refines the definition of convexity of function f(x) defined on [a,b] by using the integral of f(x) from a to b. There are many generalizations or refinements of HH inequality. Furthermore HH inequality has many applications to several fields of mathematics, including numerical analysis, functional analysis, and operator inequality. Recently, we gave several types of refined HH inequalities and obtained inequalities which were satisfied by weighted logarithmic means. In this article, we give an N-variable Hermite–Hadamard inequality and apply to some norm inequalities under certain conditions. As applications, we obtain several inequalities which are satisfied by means defined by symmetry. PEGPH20, a PEGylated human hyaluronidase, induces radiosensitization by reoxygenation in pancreatic cancer xenografts. A molecular imaging study
Purpose: PEGylated human hyaluronidase (PEGPH20) enzymatically depletes hyaluronan, an important component of the extracellular matrix, increasing the delivery of therapeutic molecules. Combinations of chemotherapy and PEGPH20, however, have been unsuccessful in Phase III clinical trials. We hypothesize that by increasing tumor oxygenation by improving vascular patency and perfusion, PEGPH20 will also act as a radiosensitization agent.Experimental design: The effect of PEGPH20 on radiation treatment was analyzed with respect to tumor growth, survival time, p02, local blood volume, and the perfusion/permeability of blood vessels in a human pancreatic adenocarcinoma BxPC3 mouse model overexpressing hyaluronan synthase 3 (HAS3).Results: Mice overexpressing HAS3 developed fast growing, radiation resistant tumors that became rapidly more hypoxic as time progressed. Treatment with PEGPH20 increased survival times when used in combination with radiation therapy, significantly more than either radiation therapy or PEGPH20 alone. In mice that overexpressed HAS3, EPR imaging showed an increase in local pO2 that could be linked to increases in perfusion/permeability and local blood volume immediately after PEGPH20 treatment. Hyperpolarized [1-13C] pyruvate suggested PEGPH20 caused a metabolic shift towards decreased glycolytic flux. These effects were confined to the mice overexpressing HAS3 - no effect of PEGPH20 on survival, radiation treatment, or pO2 was seen in wild type BxPC3 tumors.Conclusions: PEGPH20 may be useful for radiosensitization of pancreatic cancer but only in the subset of tumors with substantial hyaluronan accumulation. The response of the treatment may potentially be monitored by non-invasive imaging of the hemodynamic and metabolic changes in the tumor microenvironment.Article 10079
Possibility of Multiple Drug-Drug Interactions in Patients Treated with Statins: Analysis of Data from the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) Database and Verification by Animal Experiments
Adverse drug events due to drug-drug interactions can be prevented by avoiding concomitant use of causative drugs; therefore, it is important to understand drug combinations that cause drug-drug interactions. Although many attempts to identify drug-drug interactions from real-world databases such as spontaneous reporting systems have been performed, little is known about drug-drug interactions caused by three or more drugs in polypharmacy, i.e., multiple drug-drug interactions. Therefore, we attempted to detect multiple drug-drug interactions using decision tree analysis using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database, a Japanese spontaneous reporting system. First, we used decision tree analysis to detect drug combinations that increase the risk of rhabdomyolysis in cases registered in the JADER database that used six statins. Next, the risk of three or more drug combinations that significantly increased the risk of rhabdomyolysis was validated with in vivo experiments in rats. The analysis identified a multiple drug-drug interaction signal only for pitavastatin. The reporting rate of rhabdomyolysis for pitavastatin in the JADER database was 0.09, and it increased to 0.16 in combination with allopurinol. Furthermore, the rate was even higher (0.40) in combination with valsartan. Additionally, necrosis of leg muscles was observed in some rats simultaneously treated with these three drugs, and their creatine kinase and myoglobin levels were elevated. The combination of pitavastatin, allopurinol, and valsartan should be treated with caution as a multiple drug-drug interaction. Since multiple drug-drug interactions were detected with decision tree analysis and the increased risk was verified in animal experiments, decision tree analysis is considered to be an effective method for detecting multiple drug-drug interactions.This is an open access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
