Educating Children of Immigrants to Japan Through the Utilization of University Japanese Language and Culture Programs
Get PDF日本では移民二世の子どもたちが増えています。多くが非漢字圏出身であり、また母国の教育体制が貧弱で、十分な教育を受けずに来日する子どもたちが増えています。国内の小中学校での日本語支援体制は向上してきていますが、高校の日本語支援はまだ非常に貧弱です。一方、この間、大学進学年齢に達してきている子どもたちが年々増えてきます。大学には、日本語・日本文化プログラムの科目を活用して、これらの学生を大学の教育システムに受け入れることを提案します。The number of children born to immigrants in Japan is on the increase. More are from non-Kanji cultural countries and/or with poorer education system. While Japanese language support at elementary and at junior high schools is improving, the system at senior high schools is still very poor. Meanwhile, more children of immigrants are coming to the age of entering university. I suggest that universities utilize their Japanese language and culture program courses to accept these students into the university education system.研究ノート / Research Note

In this paper, we analyzed the significance of holding such a course through a questionnaire to participating students.
