Simulasi Uji Baru Unik Seragam dan Stabil (BUSS) Pisang (Musa spp.) di Kebun Percobaan Pasir Kuda, Bogor
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sifat unik, seragam dan stabil (BUSS) pada tujuh varietas pisang yaitu ambon hijau (AHM), cavendish (CVS), kepok kuning (KKU), kepok unti sayang (KUS), pisang ungu (PUG), pisang lampung (PLP), dan pisang mas kirana (PMK) sebagai simulasi uji BUSS untuk permohonan hak Perlindungan Varietas Tanaman. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Pasir Kuda, Bogor. Pengolahan data dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Aksesi dilaksankan pada seluruh bagian tanaman yang dibagi dengan beberapa bagian pengamatan yaitu bagian batang, tanaman, daun, peduncle, tandan, rachis, jantung dan buah menggunakan panduan pengamatan TG UPOV 123. Simulasi ini menghasilkan 50 karakter beda dari 52 karakter pada TG UPOV di antara varietas yang diuji dengan pembanding. Perbedaan tersebut menyatakan bahwa pisang yang diuji memiliki kategori unik.Keseragaman dan kestabilan dilihat dari tidak adanya off type pada varietas pisang yang diuji dan sumber bahan tanam yang diperbanyak secara vegetatif.Perbedaan karakter yang didapat digunakan untuk mendapatkan varietas contoh.Varietas contoh ini berperan untuk pembuatan pedoman pelaksanaan uji selanjutnya
Karakterisasi Morfologi Anggrek Phalaenopsis spp. Spesies Asli Indonesia
Keberadaan anggrek Phalaenopsis spesies atau anggrek hutan sudah semakin menurun, sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya perbanyakan untuk melestarikannya. Upaya perbanyakan melalui persilangan buatan merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menghasilkan tanaman yang lebih baik dari tetuanya, namun sering mengalami kegagalan akibat incompatibitas tetua. Hal tersebut dapat dikurangi dengan melakukan karakterisasi untuk mengetahui kekerabatan antar tetua persilangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari karakter morfologi 14 aksesi anggrek Phalaenopsis spesies yaitu Phalaenopsis gigantea A (PGA), Phalaenopsis bellina (PB), Phalaenopsis amabilis Halong (PAH), Phalaenopsis violacea (PV), Phalaenopsis doritis (PD), Phalaenopsis schilleriana (PS), Phalaenopsis modesta (PM), Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi (PC), Phalaenopsis pantherina (PP), Phalaenopsis tetraspis (PT), Phalaenopsis pulchra (PPA), Phalaenopsis amabilis Cidaun (PAC), Phalaenopsis amabilis Trenggalek (PAT) dan Phalaenopsis gigantea B (PGB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan setiap anggota masing-masing aksesi pada Phalaenopsis spesies memiliki kekerabatan sangat dekat yaitu 100% kecuali Phalaenopsis tetraspis yang berkerabat 87% akibat perbedaan bentuk ujung daun. Berdasarkan klasifikasi daun aksesi yang berkerabat dekat adalah Phalaenopsis gigantea A dengan Phalaenopsis bellina (87%), Phalaenopsis amabilis Trenggalek dengan Phalaenopsis gigantea B (87%), Phalaenopsis violacea dengan Phalaenopsis pulchra (87%) dan Phalaenopsis amabilis Halong dengan Phalaenopsis pantherina (87%). Berdasarkan klasifikasi bunga aksesi yang memiliki kekerabatan dekat adalah Phalaenopsis violacea dengan Phalaenopsis modesta (78%). Berdasarkan klasifikasi daun dan bunga aksesi yang berkerabat dekat adalah Phalaenopsis violacea dengan Phalaenopsis modesta (70%)
Perluasan Indeks Seleksi Nilai Fenotipe Untuk Indeks Seleksi Nilai Pemuliaan
Indeks seleksi merupakan salah satu prosedur seleksi sifat berganda yang penting dalam program pemuliaan tanaman. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsi dan menduga parameter-parameter skor indeks dari metode-metode indeks seleksi nilai fenotipe, dan kemungkinan perluasannya bagi metode indeks seleksi nilai pemuliaan BLUP. Peragam fenotipe dan genotipe dari indeks basis dan Smith-Hazel digunakan sebagai landasan statistik untuk pendugaan parameter dan perluasan penggunaan indeks. Penurunan rumus menghasilkan peragam aditif dan fenotipe bagi indeks seleksi berbasis nilai eigen, dan memperoleh parameter indeks seperti heritabilitas, koefisien determinasi, respons seleksi, respons seleksi tak langsung dan respons komponen sifat-sifat kuantitatif bagi semua metode indeks nilai fenotipe. Parameter peragam nilai pemuliaan sebenarnya dapat diduga dari analisis eigen dan keakuratan nilai pemuliaan BLUP yang memungkinkan metode indeks seleksi nilai fenotipe dapat diterapkan dengan prosedur yang sama pada nilai pemuliaan BLUP. Terakhir, heritabilitas dan koefisien determinasi indeks dapat digunakan dalam simulasi pembobot ekonomis untuk menghasilkan indeks terbaik
Pertumbuhan dan Potensi Produksi Beberapa Genotipe Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcasL.) di Tanah Masam
Indonesia has extensive acid soil but its utility is still limited because of its low nutrient content. Jatropha is a plant which can grow on various soil types, includes on marginal one, and has used as raw material for biodiesel. Therefore, the growth of jatropha on acid soil need to be studied as an effort for developing jatropha and utility of acid soil in Indonesia. To initiate the effort, research to grow various jatropha genotypes on acid soil was done. The objectives of this research was to obtain a potential tolerant jatropha genotype for acid soil. The research was conducted at UPTD Development of Dryland Technology at Singabraja Village, Tenjo Subdistrict, Bogor, West Java, from November 2010 – August 2011. This research using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with jatropha genotype as factor. The result showed that there were differences in growth among the jatropha genotypes. There are five jatropha genotypes with better growth in acid soil (pH 5.0) compare to others, i.e. Medan I-5-1, Dompu, IP-2P-3-4-1, Sulawesi, and Bima M.Keywords: physic nut, genotypes, Jatropha curcas, acid soi
Daya Hasil Galur-Galur Kacang Tanah (Arachis hypogaea L.) Tahan Penyakit Bercak Daun di Kecamatan Ciranjang Kabupaten Cianjur Provinsi Jawa Barat
This research was aimed to evaluate the yield of 16 peanut leafspot resistant lines derived from cross between Gajah variety and GPNC-WS 4 line with four check varieties of peanut. The four check varieties of peanut consist of Gajah, Jerapah, Zebra Putih, and Sima. The experiment was carried out at Ciranjang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java, from February to May 2011. This research was arranged in randomized complete block design with three replications. Result showed that GWS 39 D, GWS 110 D, GWS 18 A1, GWS 79 A, and GWS 110 A2 were identified as lines with high yield. GWS 74 D, GWS 39 B, GWS 79 A, GWS 73 D, GWS 18 A1, GWS 134 A1, and GWS 110 A1 were identified as lines with high resistant level to leafspot of peanut. Two of sixteen lines had high yield and high resistant level to leafspot, they were GWS 79 A and GWS 18 A1.Key words : peanut, yield evaluation, leaf spot resistan
Pertumbuhan Tunas Sansevieria trifaciata Prain ‘Laurentii’ pada Beberapa Komposisi Media Tanam dan Konsentrasi GA3
The objectives of this research was to know the effect of growing media composition and concentration level of GA3, on growth of Sansevieria trifaciata Prain ‘Laurentii’ shoots. The research was conducted at Leuwikopo Experiment Field, IPB, Darmaga from March until July 2011. The research used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications, Sansevieria trifaciata Prain ‘Laurentii’ variegata leafs used in this research. The first factor was growing medium composition, they were charcoal husk:soil:compos (1:2:1); pasir malang:soil:compos (2:2:1); cocopeat:soil:compos (3:2:1). The second factor was concentration of GA3 treatment consist of three level, 0 ppm; 100 ppm; 500 ppm. Charcoal husk and pasir malang gave good effect for growth of young shoots. Concentration of GA3 until 500 ppm had no significant effect on young shoot growth but it had significant effect on roots growth. The best interaction treatment effect on young shoots growth was charcoal husk medium and 500 ppm concentration of GA3.Keywords: charcoal husk, cocopeat, leaf cutting, pasir malan
Aplikasi Berbagai Komposisi dan Konsentrasi Pupuk Majemuk untuk Pembentukan Kantong pada Nepenthesx ventrata
Nepenthes is a genus of carnivorous plants in the monotypic family Nepenthaceae. The genus comprises around 130 species, numerous natural and many cultivated hybrids. Plants generally need fertilizer to promote their growth and development. However, in their original habitat Nepenthes forms pitchers under nutrition starvation condition. This study aimed at determining the effect of fertilization on the growth and pitcher formation of Nepenthesx ventrata. Experiment was conducted at Suska Nursery, Caringin, West Java, Indonesia from February until June 2011. Plants were treated with the N: P: K, 60-30-30, 32-10-10 and 10-55-10 and at different concentrations ie, 0.5, 1 and 2 g L-1. Fertilizer was applied weekly to the growing media. Weekly observations were conducted on number of leaves, plant height, time of pitchers initiation, the number of pitchers and pitcher diameter and length. Daily temperature, relative humidity and EC (electrical conductivity) of the growing media were also recorded during the experiment. The results showed that combination of fertilizer with different composition and concentration did not affect Nepenthes growth and development. Application of fertilizer resulted in smaller size pitchers compared to control plants. Future research on Nepenthes should be conducted in a longer period since Nepenthes is a slow growing plants.Keywords: Nepenthesx ventrata, fertilizer, pitcher plan
Pengujian Vigor Daya Simpan dan Vigor terhadap Kekeringan pada Benih Padi Gogo dan Padi Sawah
The objectives of the study were to evaluate seed storability and vigor to drought of rice genotypes from different ecologies and correlation among the characters. The experiments were conducted in the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University from April to August 2011. Duration of rapid aging using ethanol vapour for testing seed storability were 87.6 and 155.4 minutes for upland and lowland rice seeds respectively. The rolled paper methods with Polyethylen Glycol (PEG 6000) at -2.0 bar was used for testing seed vigor to drought. Rice seed of 40 genotype consisting of 20 upland and 20 lowland were evaluated using Randomized Block Design with three replications. There were no correlation between seed storability and vigor to drought on all genotypes, and no similiarity of those characters on the best five genotypes. Genotypes with the highest storability were B12154D-MR-22-8 for upland rice and Aek Sibundong for lowland. Genotypes with the highest vigor to drought were B12165D-MR-8-1 and B12161D-MR-1-4-2 for upland rice, B12672-MR-19-2-PN-1-3 and Aek Sibundong for lowland.Keywords : drought stress, Rapid agin

Adaptabilitas Genotipe Gandum Introduksi di Dataran Rendah
The experiment was conducted to study the adaptability of ten introduced wheat genotypes in Bogor, held at SEAMEO BIOTROP Experimental Field, Tajur, Bogor in March-July 2011. Experiments using Randomized Completely Block Design, single factor and three replications. The factor was genotype consisting of wheat genotypes introduced from India (OASIS / SKAUZ / / 4 * BCN-Var 28, HP 1744, LAJ/MO88, RABE/MO88), Turkey (Basribey, Alibey and Menemen), CIMMYT (G-21, G-18 and H-21), as well as two national varieties (Dewata and Selayar) as a control. The results showed that the varieties significantly affect the overall character except number of tillers and number of productive tillers. Menemen is introduced genotype that showed better or no different performance for almost all the characters than Dewata and Selayar as controls.Key words: Dewata, low altitute, Menemen, Selaya
