The Use of Gamification in Mobile Applications for Mental Health Support
No full textThis thesis explores the use of gamification in mobile applications designed to support mental health. Given the growing importance of digital tools in mental wellbeing care and the current challenges associated with low levels of long-term user engagement, the thesis focuses on analysing the potential of gamification to increase motivation and adherence. The aim of the thesis is to explore current implementations of gamification, identify key principles for its effective and ethical use in a sensitive mental health context, and design a prototype application that applies these principles. The thesis uses a qualitative research approach, involving expert analysis of six existing apps (SuperBetter, VOS.health, How We Feel, Happify, Calm, Wysa) using the Octalysis Framework, in-depth interviews with six respondents and subsequent thematic analysis of the data collected. Based on the findings, a working prototype of the ‘Garden Pals’ app was designed and developed using the AI tool v0.dev and validated through user usability testing with six participants. The results show that while gamification is generally perceived positively by users and can promote engagement, its implementation needs to be sensitive and focused on promoting intrinsic motivation, a sense of progress and autonomy, rather than competition or pressure. Empathetic communication, the ability to personalise, clear visualisation of progress and retrospectives, and high quality, pleasing visual design were found to be key factors for a positive user experience. Social elements are welcome but must be optional and provide privacy. The paper formulates recommendations for designers and highlights that thoughtfully designed gamification has the potential to contribute to the utility and long-term use of mental health apps.Tato diplomová práce se zabývá využitím gamifikace v mobilních aplikacích určených pro podporu duševního zdraví. Vzhledem k rostoucímu významu digitálních nástrojů v péči o duševní pohodu a současným výzvám spojeným s nízkou mírou dlouhodobého využívání aplikací ze strany uživatelů, se práce zaměřuje na analýzu potenciálu herních prvků pro zvýšení motivace a adherence. Cílem práce je prozkoumat současné implementace gamifikace, identifikovat klíčové principy jejího efektivního a etického využití v citlivém kontextu duševního zdraví a navrhnout prototyp aplikace, který tyto principy aplikuje. Práce využívá kvalitativní výzkumný přístup, zahrnující expertní analýzu šesti existujících aplikací (SuperBetter, VOS.health, How We Feel, Happify, Calm, Wysa) s využitím Octalysis Frameworku, hloubkové rozhovory se šesti respondenty a následnou tematickou analýzu získaných dat. Na základě zjištění byl navržen a pomocí AI nástroje v0.dev vytvořen funkční prototyp aplikace „Garden Pals“, který byl ověřen testováním použitelnosti se šesti participanty. Výsledky ukazují, že zatímco gamifikace je uživateli obecně vnímána pozitivně a může podpořit zapojení do pravidelného používání aplikací, její implementace musí být citlivá a zaměřená na podporu vnitřní motivace, pocitu pokroku a autonomie, spíše než na soutěživost či tlak. Bylo zjištěno, že klíčovými faktory pro pozitivní uživatelskou zkušenost jsou empatická komunikace, možnost personalizace, přehledná vizualizace pokroku a retrospektivy a kvalitní, příjemný vizuální design. Sociální prvky jsou vítané, avšak musí být volitelné a zajišťovat soukromí. Práce formuluje doporučení pro designéry a zdůrazňuje, že promyšleně navržená gamifikace má potenciál přispět k užitečnosti a dlouhodobému využívání aplikací pro duševní zdraví
Anticipatory socialization in families of actors and medical doctors
No full textThis bachelor's thesis explores the role of anticipatory socialization in shaping the career trajectories of individuals raised in families of actors and medical doctors. The primary objective is to examine how the distinct family environments associated with these two professions influence occupational choice. The study investigates the extent to which career decision-making is guided by conscious parental direction versus the implicit transmission of professional values and norms through everyday family life. Findings suggest that the determining factor in career orientation is not parental expectations, but rather the formative influence of the professional environment in which the individual was socialized from an early age.Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na roli anticipativní socializace v profesním vývoji jedinců vyrůstajících v rodinách herců a lékařů. Cílem je porovnat, jak specifické rodinné prostředí v těchto dvou profesních skupinách ovlivňuje volbu povolání. Vliv tržního sentimentu na ocenění společnosti Tesla: Kombinace fundamentálního a sentimentálního přístupu
No full textThis thesis examines whether investor sentiment propels Tesla Inc.’s daily stock returns between 1 Jan 2021 and 30 Apr 2025. Roughly 0.6 million Tesla-focused items - tweets, Reddit comments, and news headlines—are scored with FinBERT and validated with VADER, then matched to returns and standard market controls. Ordinary Least Squares shows significant positive sentiment–return links across all three platforms, with Twitter displaying the strongest statistical significance; VADER adds no explanatory power once FinBERT is used. Trailing PE multiples do not materially alter these relationships. Vector-autoregressive Granger-causality tests confirm directionality: Twitter sentiment predicts next-day returns, whereas price moves largely drive subsequent tone on Reddit and in traditional news. The study underscores Twitter’s predictive edge for a high-profile, retail-driven stock and demonstrates that sentiment effects operate independently of fundamental valuation multiples.práce zkoumá, zda sentiment investorů ovlivňoval denní výnosy akcií společnosti Tesla Inc. od 1. ledna 2021 do 30. dubna 2025. Přibližně 600 tisíc položek zaměřených na Teslu – tweetů, komentářů na Redditu a zpravodajských titulků – bylo skórováno pomocí modelu FinBERT, validováno modelem VADER a následně spojeno s výnosy a standardními tržními kontrolními proměnnými. Regrese metodou nejmenších čtverců (OLS) ukazuje významné pozitivní vztahy mezi sentimentem a výnosy u všech tří platforem, přičemž Twitter vykazuje nejsilnější statistickou významnost; použití VADERu nepřináší další vysvětlující sílu nad rámec modelu FinBERT. Násobky trailing PE tyto vztahy významněji nemění. Vektorové autoregresní Grangerovy testy kauzality potvrzují směr vazby: sentiment na Twitteru predikuje výnosy následujícího dne, zatímco pohyby ceny výrazně určují následný tón na Redditu a v tradičních zprávách. Smart governance and social networks: How can municipalities with extended powers use social media to communicate with citizens?
No full textBakalářská práce se zabývá využíváním sociálních médií ke komunikaci s občany v rámci konceptu smart governance na úrovni obcí s rozšířenou působností v České republice. Prostřednictvím vlastního průzkumu byla zmapována přítomnost těchto obcí na platformách Facebook, Instagram a Munipolis, včetně sledovanosti jednotlivých profilů a relativního zapojení obyvatel. Výzkum doplňují rozhovory s představiteli obcí, které vykazují úspěšnou a aktivní komunikaci na sociálních sítích. Přidanou hodnotu představuje přehled reálného stavu využívání sociálních sítí ORP, originální srovnání jednotlivých kanálů z hlediska dosahu a angažovanosti obyvatel a praktická doporučení vycházející z příkladů dobré praxe. Práce tak přispívá k rozvoji digitální komunikace ve veřejné správě a rozšiřuje poznání o možnostech občanské participace prostřednictvím online nástrojů.This bachelor's thesis explores the use of social media for communication with citizens within the framework of smart governance at the level of municipalities with extended powers (ORP) in the Czech Republic. Based on original research, the thesis maps the presence of these municipalities on the platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Munipolis, including the number of followers and the relative engagement of residents. The research is complemented by interviews with representatives of municipalities that demonstrate successful and active communication on social networks. The added value of the thesis lies in an overview of the current state of social media use by ORPs, an original comparison of the individual platforms in terms of reach and citizen engagement, and practical recommendations based on examples of good practice. The work contributes to the development of digital communication in public administration and expands knowledge about the possibilities of citizen participation through online tools

The research part is divided into two thematic sections. The first focuses on large-scale events held in the Czech Republic – the music festival Rock for People, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and the Olympic Festival in Most – examining their influence on visitor behavior, the local economy, and destination perception. The second section analyzes the folklore festivals Santo Tomás (Bilbao) and Ondrášova valaška (Rožnov pod Radhoštěm), with attention to their connection to local communities, cultural identity, and visitor profiles. The thesis combines quantitative and qualitative methods and shows that different types of events bring varied benefits to destinations, ranging from economic effects to the strengthening of regional identity.Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem kulturních a sportovních eventů na rozvoj turismu v České republice, s okrajovým srovnáním s vybraným festivalem ve španělském Baskicku. Currency risk of an investment fund's equity portfolio
No full textThe bachelor‘s thesis focuses on market risks specifically on forex and stock risks. It contains an introduction and application hedging instruments. It also deals with the issue of international investment and diversification. Practical part is focused on the analysis correlations, risks, performance of national stock indices, portfolio and current market situation. In the final part individual hedging strategies of stock portfolio in different financial market situations are presented. The findings show that international diversification is important for the Czech investor and therefore it is advisable to invest abroad, specifically in the USA. At the same time, we are also able to reduce the risk of the portfolio by investing in the European market. In today's volatile times, hedging is also an important part of equity funds and, when is used appropriately, can play a key role in beating the market benchmark. The situation suggests, that a successful fund must have knowledge of both the capital market and forex.Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na tržní rizika, konkrétně na měnová a akciová. Obsahuje představení a aplikace jednotlivých metod zajištění. Zabývá se i otázkou mezinárodního investování a diverzifikace. Praktická část je zaměřena na analýzu korelací, rizika a výnosnosti národních akciových indexů a portfolií v aktuální době. V závěrečné části jsou uvedeny jednotlivé strategie hedgingu akciového portfolia při různých situacích na finančním trhu. Z poznatku vyplývá, že pro českého investora má mezinárodní diverzifikace velký význam a tudíž je vhodné investovat v zahraničí a to konkrétně v USA. Zároveň jsme schopni snížit riziko portfolia i investicemi na evropském trhu. V dnešní volatilní době je také hedging důležitou součástí strategie akciových fondů a při vhodném použití může hrát klíčovou roli pro překonávání tržního benchmarku. Situace naznačuje, že úspěšný akciový fond musí disponovat znalostmi kapitálového i měnového trhu

No full textThis thesis examines the macroeconomic expansion of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) onto the African continent, with a special focus on the potential political leverage the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) can exert on its investment recipients. The research aims to evaluate whether the extensive Chinese investment and lending activity in Africa serves merely economic goals or if it also chases political objectives of expanding political influence, thereby challenging the standing global order. While the theoretical framework tries to explain potential Chinese motivations for this behavior and describe the execution of economic statecraft employed by the CCP, the quantitative analysis tests the real political alignment of the African continent with the PRC on the grounds of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), employing regression testing of loans and foreign direct investments (FDI) with the UNGA voting patterns.Tato práce zkoumá makroekonomickou expanzi Čínské lidové republiky (ČLR) na africký kontinent se zvláštním zaměřením na potenciální politický vliv, který může Čínská komunistická strana (ČKS) uplatnit na příjemce svých investic. The relationship between digitalisation and the shadow economy in EU countries
No full textThis bachelor’s thesis explores the relationship between the level of digitalisation and the size of the shadow economy in European Union member states. The aim of the study is to determine whether higher digitalisation is associated with a lower share of the shadow economy. To achieve this, a literature review and a cross-sectional regression analysis using 2022 data are used. Digitalisation is captured by four indicators: the share of individuals shopping online, the share of regular internet users, the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), and the rate of online-banking usage. The shadow economy is estimated from available secondary data. The econometric model statistically evaluates the relationship between the digitalisation indicators and the estimated share of the shadow economy, indicating a negative association between them.Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi úrovní digitalizace a rozsahem šedé ekonomiky v zemích Evropské unie. Cílem studie je ověřit, zda vyšší úroveň digitalizace souvisí s nižším podílem šedé ekonomiky. K dosažení tohoto cíle je využita literární rešerše a průřezová regresní analýza dat za rok 2022. Digitalizace je zachycena čtyřmi indikátory: podílem osob nakupujících online, podílem pravidelných uživatelů internetu, indexem rozvoje e-governmentu (EGDI) a mírou využívání online bankovnictví, zatímco šedá ekonomika je odhadnuta na základě dostupných sekundárních dat. Použitý ekonometrický model umožňuje statisticky posoudit vztah mezi digitalizačními ukazateli a odhadovaným podílem šedé ekonomiky a naznačuje mezi nimi negativní souvislost

No full textBakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou měnového rizika a jeho řízení. V současné době je toto téma nedílnou součástí všech společností vystupujících na mezinárodním trhu. V rámci této bakalářské práce si nejdříve představíme pojmy, které s tématem úzce souvisí a následně se podíváme na možné metody jeho řízení. V následující praktické části práce využijeme získané dovednosti a aplikujeme je na konkrétní společnost. Zanalyzujeme si faktory, které ovlivňují otevřenost devizových pozic společnosti a pokusíme se vymezit její transakční a ekonomickou devizovou expozici. Prozkoumáme její nástroje využívané ke snižování tohoto rizika a zhodnotíme celkovou situaci společnosti, případně zkusíme navrhnout jiné nástroje, které by společnost mohla využívat.Bachelor’s thesis follows the problems of currency risk and its management. Contemporarily this topic is an inseparable part of every company operating on the international market. Firstly, we are going to introduce terms, which are closely related to this issue and after that we will look into some methods of its handling. In the following more practical part of the thesis we are going to use and apply newly learnt skills onto a certain existing company. We are going to analyse the factors that influence the foreign exchange positions and try to define company’s transactional and economic foreign exchange exposure. Finally, we are going to examine the company’s instruments used for mitigation of the currency risk and we are going assess the whole situation regarding this risk and eventually suggest new methods which could be beneficial
