Hubungan Antara Penguasaan Silang Budaya dan Kemampuan Komunikatif
This Correlational study aims at knowing empirically the significant relation between the third yearsstudents cross-cultural understandind and communcative competence at state islamic senior high school at South Jakarta.Its data that are obtained through two kinds of test are analyzed using both regression and correlation technique.The data analysis shows that the correlation coefficient of this research is 0.77; while in the significance levelof 0.005 with 60 students as a sample of the research the Pearson\u27s table indicates the correlation coefficient is bigger than the value of the Pearson\u27s table, the null hypotesis can be rejected and the alternative one is accepted.Therefore, it can be understood that there is significant relation between the third year student\u27s cross-culturalunderstanding and communicative competence at State Islamic Senior High School at South Jakarta

Economical Impacts of MOdernization on the Tappers of Ahmad Tohari\u27s Bekisar Merah
This literary research is primariw aimed at revealing the economical impacts of modemizabon on the tappers in Bekisar Merah. The study uses terdisciplinary approach, which involves economical historical, cultural, ecological, and mimetic approaches. The analysis shows that the forms of modernization in Bekisar Merah are the impacts of the coming of electrification in the village. Modernization does not only cause positive impacts but also negative ones, which are stronger. The negative impacts include monopoly, human andcultural conflict, poverty, disharmony, greediness, law breaking, materialistic life, adultery, divorce, less religiosity, drop outs and migration. The positive impacts indude independence, adaptation, rationality,and efficiency. The problems appear in the novel rellects the inner conflict of the author, Ahmad Tohari He questions the ideas of the coming of electricity set in Karangsoga villase. Modernization can only be enjoyedby the upper class of the society. It cannot meet the nenes sity of the common people. The tappers loose somebenefits because of the coming of electricity in their village. They cannot enjoy the electricity, moreover, it caused misery and poverty

His compilation of poems wich is written in Diwan Umru al-Qais comprises of 3 Qasidah : the first Qasidah has 91 verses with the total of 221 verses. the theme wich is brought forward by Umru al-Qais in his Diwan are al-risa (elegy or sadness), al-ghazl (romance), al wasf (description) and al-hikmah (advice). THe themes used the rythm of bahr tawil as the bahr character is accurate and appropriate in revealing "serious" themes
