    Get PDF
Antimicrobial assay of n-hexane plant extracts against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus had been done. Extraction with n-Hexane of the flowers yielded 2,08% of extract, while leaves and stems yielded 3,21% and 2,19% of n-hexane extracts, respectively. The extracts showed different activity against both bioindicators. The leaves extracts showed the strongest activity indicated by wider diameters of inhibition zone, 19,7 mm against E. coli and 13,3 mm against S. aureus at 10% of the extracts concentration. At the same concentration (10%), the steam and flower extracts showed less inhibitory activities with 11,3 mm and 8,3 mm against E. coli, and 12,0 mm and 11,0 mm against S. aureus. At the lowest concentration of the extracts, the leaves extracts showed the strongest activity against E. coli (14,3 mm) while the steam extracts showed highest inhibitory activity against S. aureus ( 7,7 mm). Based on antimicrobial assay, it was suggested that the leaves extracts demonstrated strongest activity than other extracts. It was assumed that leaves extracts contained more secondary metabolite than flowers and steams, and the leaves have phenol compounds which are not present in other extracts

This report was aimed to describe the behavioral changes of catfish as observed before two different earthquakes hit the Province of Aceh, Indonesia in year of 2012. A number of 5 Africans catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were placed in an aquarium located in Gapang, Sukakarya Sub-district of Sabang Town, Aceh. Their behavior activities were observed manually at three different times (08.00 AM, 01.00 PM, and 05.00 PM) every day from 1st March up to 11th April 2012. The result of observation showed that the activity of catfish was different between all of them from 1st March 2012 up to morning observation on 11th April 2012. Most of those activities was not showed as very active behavior. However, their behavior was very active in the same pattern when observed at noon and afternoon times on 11 April 2012. On this date, there were two consecutive earthquakes happened at magnitude of 8 Richter Scale at 03.38 PM and 05.43 PM. The epicenter of this earthquake was in Simeulue, with the distance of more and less of 390 km from observation station of catfish in Gapang. It was noted that this abnormal behavior possibly showed as an indication of their ability to detect the increase of pre-seismic activity at 2.38 hours and 43 minutes before the two earthquakes. Perhaps, it is the result of their response to the increase of pre-seismic electromagnetic wave. Further continuous observation and research is needed to ensure the role of Africans catfish (Clarias gariepinus) as abio-sensor for the increase of seismic activity

The effect of Ge content on the optical and electrical properties of a-SiGe:H thin films deposited by HWC-PECVD had been investigated. The a-SiGe:H films ware grown on corning glass 7059 substrate using 10% diluted mixture of GeH4 and SiH4 gases, respectively. The GeH4 gas flow rate was varied from 2.5 12.5 sccm, while the flow rate of SiH4 was kept constant at 70 sccm. The results showed that the deposition rate of a-SiGe:H thin films increased by increasing of GeH4 gas flow rate. In addition, the Ge content in the film increased and the optical band gap decreased. The dark conductivity of a-SiGe:H films were relatively constant, whereas the photo conductivity decreased with increasing of Ge content

An experiment had been carried out on formation of Bi-2212 crystals with the self-flux method. Flux was used and derived from CuO and CaCO3. The process of synthesis was equipped with the melting process at temperature 890 C with time variation of melting 35 minutes and 40 minutes, followed by slow cooling at a rate of 1C/hour for 70 hours. The results were obtained and characterized by XRD test. This research aimed to produce superconducting materials with self-flux method, calculate the percentage of the value of the volume fraction, the percentage of oriented phase and impurities. Samples generated from XRD measurements were made to match with the XRD Strobells pattern of the superconducting Bi-2212 standards. The results showed that the value of the volume fraction of 2212 phase and the phase of the highest oriented melting at 40 minutes were equal to 67.68% and 38.89%, while the smallest impurity phase of 32.32% were obtained at the same time melting

Currently, several regional general hospitals in Banda Aceh now have excellent support facilities, one of which is a diagnostic X-ray machine. The performance of diagnostic X-ray machine should be checked to determine if the dose received does not harm a patient and produce a good image and provide diagnostic information in a timely and accurate, therefore there are necessary for quality control activities on the machine X-ray. Factors that affect the dosing and imaging results, among others, the amount of the provision of current and voltage. From the research shows that the value of the output voltage generated is not much different from the value of the input voltage with a percentage value below 5%. This value shows a good output machineX-ray because it is still under the maximum tolerance limit of 10%. So the overall results of observations on the machineX-ray is in hospital, the quality control measurements gave values still within safe limits. Then by giving a higher input voltage turns also affect the amount of energy produced, thus affecting also absorbed dose X-rays are produced

    Connectivity Algorithm in Simple Graphs

    Get PDF
This paper discusses about connectivity algorithm in simple graphs. The algorithm has three stages, namely, adjacent vertices search, adjacent vertices investigation and component investigation. The aim of connectivity algorithm is to check whether a graph is connected or disconnected with the scope set. There are three sets which are used in this algorithm, namely, vertex, edge and adjacent vertices sets. The simple graph is connected if the graph has only one component or if the number of adjacent vertices elements is equal to the number of vertices. Otherwise, if the simple graph has more than one component or if the number of adjacent vertices elements is not equal to the number of vertices then the algorithm will conclude that the graph is disconnected
