This article aims to problematize some specific notions of the comparative literature, established by criticism and literary theory, as well as to intensify the complex relationship between the global, the universal, and the international confrontation with the culture. The method of differential comparison is used and has multiple ways of conceiving the dynamics of genres, myths, and texts in a regime of migrations and contaminations increasingly linked to culture and the effects of meaning claimed by it and produced. It also seeks to list some assemblages that will have made part of the text, the myth, and the artistic sign increasingly diasporic, crossed and border

The aim of this study is to present and analyze Delaunay surfaces, which are revolution surfaces with constant mean curvature. Using differential geometry methods, we investigate the properties of the generating curves that define these surfaces and explore their geometric and analytical characteristics. We classify Delaunay surfaces as cylinders, spheres, catenoids, nodoids and onduloids. These surfaces are recognized as elegant and practical solutions for stability problems and phenomena in cellular biology. We conclude that studying Delaunay surfaces not only enriches the theoretical understanding of differential geometry but also offers valuable practical applications in various scientific disciplines

A basis- and integral-free representation of time-dependent perturbation theory via the Omega matrix calculus.

    No full text
We obtain a basis- and integral-free representation of the n-term in time-dependent perturbation theory of the quantum time-evolution operator. The main technical tool to construct the aforementioned representation comprises the Omega matrix calculus; that is, an exten sion of MacMahon’s partition analysis to the realm of matrix calculus. In particular, we show that if we specialize our formulation to the time-independent and finite-dimensional case, we recover Putzer (1966) original formulation to compute the matrix exponential avoiding the Jordan canonical form. Furthermore, if we use an explicit basis for the time-independent part of the generator of evolution, then our work implies a representation of the perturbation expansion similar to an approach discussed in the recent work of Kalev and Hen (2021) using divided differences. Finally, we obtain closed form expressions which generalize and unify all the perturbation calculations considered in Kalev and Hen (2021) and advance some considerations regarding degeneracy associated with the unperturbed Hamiltonian in the context of adiabatic switching

Como resultado, são explicitados pontos conflitantes em meio a produção científica analisada, ressaltada a relevância da clareza do conceito de pré-fabricação para vislumbrar seus potenciais como procedimento construtivo e indicadas possibilidades para novas práticas e historiografiasIn this article we aim to scrutinize various interpretations of the term prefabrication as adopted in context national scientific literature and to derive a definition for the concept based on its historical practices — viewing it as a temporal and spatial arrangement of labor organization within the production process. Employing Content Analysis methodology, with the objective of drawing objective inferences regarding their social context, we examine and systematize scientific works (articles, dissertations, theses, monographs, books, and book chapters) from the fields of architecture and engineering, published between 1996 and 2019. As a result, conflicting points within the analyzed scientific production are elucidated, the importance of conceptual clarity in understanding prefabrication’s potential as a construction procedure is underscored, and avenues for new practices and historiographies are suggested

Qualitative and quantitative changes in mitochondrial DNA associated with cervical cancer : a comprehensive review.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and is considered a preventable disease, as vaccination and screening programs effectively reduce its incidence and mortality rates. Disease physiopathology and malignant cell transformation is a complex process, but it is widely known that high-risk HPV (hrHPV) infection is a necessary risk factor for cancer development. Mitochondria, cell organelles with important bioenergetic and biosynthetic functions, are important for cell energy production, cell growth, and apoptosis. Mitochondrial DNA is a structure that is particularly susceptible to quantitative (mtDNA copy number variation) and qualitative (sequence variations) alterations that are associated with various types of cancer. Novel biomarkers with diagnostic and prognostic value in cervical cancer can be evaluated to provide higher specificity and complement hrHPV molecular testing, which is the most recommended method for primary screening. In accordance with this, this review aimed to assess mitochondrial alterations associated with cervical cancer in clinical cervicovaginal samples, in order to unravel their possible role as specific diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for cervical malignancy, and also to guide the understanding of their involvement in carcinogenesis, HPV infection, and disease progression

    No full text
Due to its significant impact on public health, obesity has been studied from a variety of perspectives. All surgical procedures of bariatric and metabolic surgeries (BMS) carry their risks and benefits and have specific characteristics. Considering that weight regain (WR) is considered a surgical failure. This systematic review, registered on PROSPERO under code CRD42023421203, aims to identify physical and behavioral predictors associated with WR post-BMS. Primary outcomes included WR prevalence after BMS (>10% recovery from maximum weight loss or points of BMI >4 or 5 kg/m2), while secondary outcomes assessed factors associated with WR. This systematic review with meta-analysis demonstrated that 49% of patients WR after BMS and this prevalence is higher in those who underwent Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) surgery (42%) and in Europe (64%). Protective factors for WR only included prior BMI and younger age with statistical significance, however other analyzes did not demonstrate statistical significance. Therefore, it is important to note that the use of BMS does not guarantee long-term sustainable weight loss without continuous lifestyle modifications and treatment dietetic. Efforts to maintain weight loss should include ongoing lifestyle modifications to ensure the effectiveness and efficacy of the surgery

The Brazilian criminal justice system is oriented from an androcentric perspective, reproducing a logic of male domination, so that women who are part of the criminal process as cornered people suffer from the institutional violence of this system, which deepens inequalities structure existing in society. Thus, we seek to reveal the real functions of the criminal justice system and, based on this, outline guidelines for the solidification of a new model of justice aligned with the Democratic Rule of Law. With the help of Critical and Feminist Criminology, the aim is to demonstrate the real purposes of the penal system, highlighting the obstacles that women perpetrators of crimes encounter within the scope of the Brazilian criminal process and that prevent their effective participation in conflict management. Furthermore, an analysis is proposed on the possible contributions of Restorative Justice to break with the authoritarian, androcentric and oppressive model of justice. Starting from the point that restorative practices can be innovative at any stage of the process, by conducting a semi-structured interview with a facilitator who works in the Restorative Justice project recently implemented within the scope of the Minas Gerais prison system, we intend to evaluate the prediction of expansion of practices to other procedural phases, as well as to other states of Minas Gerais. The current configuration of the Brazilian criminal process prevents the parties from having the opportunity to expose their narratives, their expectations and desires regarding the process, or from reproducing structural violence, discrimination and stigmatization to the detriment of vulnerable social groups. To this end, we developed the notion of democratic criminal process as a theoretical framework, without the intention of understanding the importance of expanding and re-signifying the meaning given to the contradictory, provided for in the Federal Constitution of 1988, so that the process is not an instrument of oppression and that imposes silencing to the detriment of women perpetrators of crimes. With the development of the proposed study, the aim is to outline guidelines in search of a new model of justice that, inspired by Restorative Justice, is focused on accountability, accessories and reintegration, with the aim of understanding and respecting the social relationships affected by the crime

It is essential that cities are analyzed regarding their urban instruments from this perspective

Synthetic peptides selected by immunoinformatics as potential tools for the specific diagnosis of canine visceral leishmaniasis.

    No full text
Diagnosing canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL) in Brazil faces challenges due to the limitations regarding the sensitivity and specificity of the current diagnostic protocol. Therefore, it is urgent to map new antigens or enhance the existing ones for future diagnostic techniques. Immunoinformatic tools are promising in the identification of new potential epitopes or antigen candidates. In this study, we evaluated peptides selected by epitope prediction for CVL serodiagnosis in ELISA assays. Ten B-cell epitopes were immunogenic in silico, but two peptides (peptides No. 45 and No. 48) showed the best performance in vitro. The selected peptides, both individually and in combination, were highly diagnostically accurate, with sensitivities ranging from 86.4% to 100% and with a specificity of approximately 90%. We observed that the combination of peptides showed better performance when compared to peptide alone, by detecting all asymptomatic dogs, showing lower cross-reactivity in sera from dogs with other canine infections, and did not detect vaccinated animals. Moreover, our data indicate the potential use of immunoinformatic tools associated with ELISA assays for the selection and evaluation of potential new targets, such as peptides, applied to the diagnosis of CVL
