ANALISIS MUSIM PENANGKAPAN IKAN TERI (Stolephorus sp.) DI TELUK DODINGA, KABUPATEN HALMAHERA BARAT

Sustainable marine fisheries resources exploitation requires a utilization rate lower than the resources availability. Therefore, the exploitation rate should not achieve the recovery ability of the resources in any particular period. In fishing activities, for instance, there is a guideline not to catch fish over the Total Allowable Catch (TAC), 80% of the MSY value. The exploitation rate of the anchovy (Stolephorus sp.) in Dodinga Bay was still low. It could result from small-scaled traditional fishermen and low fishing distance from the shore. Their income was also low due to high operational cost and fluctuation in fish price. To improve the fishermen prosperity, it is necessary to raise the fishing productivity and the efficiency of production input utilization on the boat lift net. This study focused on understanding the anchovy fishing season of the boat lift net in Dodinga Bay to analyze the yearly fishing seasons for the last five years. Results concluded that the fishing season of the anchovy (Stolephorus sp.) in Dodinga Bay could be separated into two phases, March to June and October to November, but the former was more extensive and lager in scale than the later
STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS IKAN TARGET DI TERUMBU KARANG PULAU HOGOW DAN PUTUS-PUTUS SULAWESI UTARA
ABSTRACTCommunity structure of target fishes was analyzed to understand their response to different conditions of coral reefs in several places of Hugow and Putus-Putus islands. This study focused on species abundance and diversity including Shannon-Wiener’s species diversity (H’), species richness (SR), species evenness (J’) and dominance (d) indices, respectively. A multivariate analysis was used for the classification or correspondence factorial analyses. The result recorded 4,501 individuals belonging to 52 species of target fishes. Both cluster and correspondence analyses clearly recognized 3 groups of target fish with 2 major controlling factors for the development of these 3 ecological groups, i.e. coral reef conditions and geographic position to the hydrodynamic condition.ABSTRAKStruktur komunitas ikan target dianalisis untuk melihat respon ikan target terhadap perbedaan kondisi terumbu karang di beberapa lokasi Pulau Hogow dan Putus-Putus. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2010 dengan pengambilan data di 6 stasiun. Dalam penelitian ini telah dikaji variabel komunitas seperti kelimpahan dan keanekaragaman spesies termasuk indeks keanekaragaman spesies Shannon-Wiener (H’), indeks kekayaan spesies (SR), indeks kemerataan spesies (J’) dan indeks dominasi (d). Untuk melihat assemblage ikan target dilakukan analisis multivariat baik analisis klasifikasi maupun analisis faktorial koresponden. Dalam penelitian ini diperoleh 4501 indidu yang termasuk dalam 52 spesies ikan target. Analisis multivariat baik analisis cluster maupun analisis koresponden telah memisahkan dengan jelas 3 grup ikan target, dimana terdapat dua faktor utama pengendali pembentukan 3 grup ekologis ini yakni faktor kondisi terumbu karang dan faktor posisi lokasi terhadap kondisi hidrodinamika perairan
PERANAN NELAYAN TERHADAP REHABILITASI EKOSISTEM HUTAN BAKAU (MANGROVE)
ABSTRACTMangrove forest ecosystem has an important role for the welfare of the fishermen, because the daily activities of fishing is always related to the mangrove ecosystem. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort to restore degraded mangrove forest in order to return to their function for human welfare, especially fishermen, and support the development of coastal areas. The participation in rehabilitation and managing of mangrove ecosystem is the key to the success of mangrove conservation. The level of knowledge and the role of fishermen on the mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation will be discussed in this paper.ABSTRAKEkosistem hutan mangrove memiliki peran yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan nelayan, karena aktifitas sehari-hari nelayan selalu berhubungan langsung dengan ekosistem hutan bakau. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan berbagai upaya untuk memulihkan kembali hutan bakau yang rusak agar dapat kembali memberikan fungsinya bagi kesejahteraan manusia khususnya nelayan dan mendukung pembangunan wilayah pe-sisir. Keikutsertaan nelayan dalam upaya rehabilitasi dan pengelolaan bakau dapat menjadi kunci keberhasilan pelestarian bakau. PENGARUH SUBSTRAT IJUK DAN Hydrilla sp. TERHADAP DERAJAT PEMBUAHAN DAN PENETASAN TELUR IKAN MAS
Good quality carp seed supply in relation to number, time, price and location is a crucial factor for the success of the fish cultivation. To ensure the availability of fish seed under these requirements, this study was technically directed to increase the fertility rate, the hatchability rte and the survival of larvae and post larvae. This study was aimed to find good substrates for spawning and egg hatching of the common carp, Cyprinus carpio L. Were used at Sugar Palm Fiber and Hydrilla sp. as substrates for the egg attachment. For this, males and females of 1:1 weight ratio were put into the spawning pond. Eggs attached to both susbtrate types were counted. Water quality parameters, such as temperature, dissolved oxygen and pH, were also recorded. Results showed that common carps had higher preference to Hydrilla sp. to attach their eggs than to Sugar Palm Fiber (kakaban). Egg hatching is also higher in Hydrilla sp than in Sugar Palm Fiber (kakaban), even though the degree of conception, however were not significantly different
PENGARUH SUHU TERHADAP PEMIJAHAN KERANG MUTIARA Pinctada maxima (JAMESON)
Pearl oysters, Pinctada maxima, are known as South Sea Pearl. Breeding is an important factor in intensive culture pearl oyster. In breeding, spawning became determining factor. The purpose of this research was to understand the effect of temperature decrease on the spawning level and to compare the treatment of water temperature decrease and increase on spawning level of pearl oyster P. maxima. The result showed that temperature decrease treatment influenced the success of the spawning level. Both water temperature decrease and increase had similar effect on the spawning level of the pearl oyster
DAMPAK PROGRAM REKLAMASI BAGI EKONOMI RUMAH TANGGA NELAYAN DI KOTA MANADO
This study focused on the economic and the social impacts of the reclamation program for the traditional fishermen who live along the coastal area of Manado City set the reclamation program, particularly Wenang Selatan, Titiwungen, and Bahu-Malalayang, using direct observation and guided interview techniques to selected respondent. The results found that in economic aspect, the local people gained higher income before reclamation than after it; in social aspect, the former fishermen had to alter their profession to the one they did not know or were sent outside the city, even far from social facilities, such as school, health services, etc
KARAKTERISTIK BAKTERI PEREDUKSI MERKURI (Escherichia coli) DIISOLASI DARI PERAIRAN PANTAI TELUK MANADO
ABSTRACTIn the environment like seawater, mercury can be oxidized by some bacteria, such as Thiobacillus, to produce Hg ions which are soluble in water and toxic to marine organisms, such as bacteria, algae, and so on. On the other hand, the occurrence of Pseudomonas, as E. coli, is believed can reduce the number of Hg ions in the environment. An experiment was conducted to count total coliform and total E. coli, to isolate, to identify E. coli isolated from Manado Bay seawater, and to determine the ability of E. coli isolates to do reduction and or oxidation of mercury ions. Seawater samples were collected from the reclamation area, especially close to Tondano River, Sario River and Bahu River around Manado Bay. As a control, some water samples were taken from Bunaken Island waters at Liang and Muka Kampung area. An amount of 500 ml water samples was taken from the sampling site and placed into container, then brought to the laboratory for further analysis, such as total coliform, total E. coli. In addition, some biochemical tests were also carried out in order to identify the isolate. The results showed that nearly all isolates of E. coli (83.3%) exhibited their ability in mercury ions oxidation, while the isolates that can reduce ion mercury were 13.3% only. The highest Hg-ions reduction was influenced by the characteristic of isolates, and mercury ions oxidation was also dependent upon the strain type.Keywords: E. coli, reduction-oxidation, Hg-ions.ABSTRAKDalam lingkungan perairan laut, merkuri dapat teroksidasi oleh bebera-pa bakteri, seperti Thiobacillus. Bakteri ini dapat menghasilkan ion Hg yang la-rut dalam air dan bersifat racun bagi organisme laut lainnya. Di sisi lain, keha-diran Pseudomonas seperti juga E. coli, diyakini dapat mengurangi jumlah ion Hg di lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghitung total coliform dan to-tal E. coli, untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasinya dari perairan Teluk Manado, dan menentukan kemampuan isolat E. coli dalam mereduksi dan mengoksidasi ion-ion merkuri. Sampel air laut dikumpulkan dari areal reklama-si, terutama di daerah yang dekat dengan Sungai Tondano, Sungai Sario dan Sungai Bahu. Sebagai kontrol, beberapa sampel air (@ 500 sampel ml) diambil dari perairan Pulau Bunaken di Liang dan Kampung Muka, kemudian dibawa ke laboratorium untuk dianalisis lebih lanjut, seperti total coliform, jumlah E. coli. Selain itu, beberapa tes biokimia juga dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi isolat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir semua isolat E. coli (83,3%) menunjukkan kemampuan mereka dalam mengoksidasi ion merkuri, sedangkan isolat yang dapat mengurangi ion merkuri hanya 13,3% saja. Penurunan ion Hg tertinggi dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik isolat, demikian pula dengan kemampuan oksidasi ion merkuti tergantung pada jenis strainnya.Kata kunci: E. coli, reduksi-oksidasi Hg, ion Hg
AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ALGA LAUT Caulerpa racemosa DARI PERAIRAN PULAU NAIN
ABSTRACTAlgae or seaweed is the dominant part of marine plants. Morphological-ly, it is categorized as non-vascular plants (Thallophyta) because it has no specific structural configuration such as roots, stems and leaves. This marine algae is found abundantly in the waters of Pulau Nain. Algae from these waters was tested in the laboratory to obtain pharmaceutical preparations to be used as antibacterial active ingredients. This study was carried out to determine the antibacterial activity of the Caulerpa racemosa algae. Antibacterial activity test showed that the test solution of C. racemosa algae has antibacterial activity on all five test bacteria. The size of inhibition zones formed was relatively smaller, when compared to the size of inhibition zone formed by the comparative antibiotic compounds.Keywords: Caulerpa racemosa, seaweed, antibiotic.ABSTRAKAlga atau ganggang laut (seaweed) adalah bagian terbesar dari tumbuhan laut, dimana secara morfologi dapat dikelompokkan kedalam golongan tumbuhan tidak berpembuluh (Thallophyta) karena tidak memiliki perbedaan susunan kerangka seperti akar, batang dan daun. Berdasarkan pengamatan di lapangan, alga laut banyak ditemukan di daerah perairan Pulau Nain. Dari perairan ini selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian secara laboratories untuk memperoleh sediaan farmasi yang digunakan sebagai bahan aktif antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antibakteri dari alga Caulerpa racemosa. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa larutan uji dari alga C. racemosa memiliki aktivitas antibakteri pada ke 5 bakteri uji yang diujikan. Ukuran zona hambat yang terbentuk relatif lebih kecil, jika dibandingkan dengan ukuran zona hambat yang dibentuk oleh senyawa antibiotika pembanding.Kata kunci: Caulerpa racemosa, ganggang laut, antibiotik
LAJU REDUKSI MERKURI OLEH PSEUDOMONAS DIISOLASI DARI PERAIRAN PANTAI TELUK MANADO
ABSTRACTThis study was conducted to isolate and identify Pseudomonas isolated from Manado Bay seawater and to determine the rate of mercury (Hg) reduction produced by isolated strains of Pseudomonas. A 500 ml seawater sample was collected from Tondano River and Manado Bay along the beach of the reclamation site, placed into container and taken to the laboratory for further analysis. Water samples were homogenized by hand shaking and 1 ml water sample was pipetted and then transferred to each 7 ml of Tryptic Soy Broth (pH 7.4) and Alkaline Peptone Water (pH 7.4), separately. After incubation period of 24h at 35oC, these were transferred with ose and streaked on Pseudomonas F Agar, followed by incubation at 35oC for 24h. Free growing colonies were then transferred to slant agar and kept at 4oC as stock culture. Results found that isolated Pseudomonas were chemoorganotrophic and chemoautolithotrophic, Almost all isolated Pseudomonas showed their ability in mercury ions reduction, but some of them did in mercury oxidation. Isolated chemooragnotrophic Pseudomonas tended to reduce mercury ions, but the chemoautolithotrophic one tended to oxidize it. Based on these results, it was found that the rate of Hg reduction was dependent upon the strain type.ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi Pseudomonas dari air laut Teluk Manado serta menentukan laju reduksi merkuri (Hg) yang diproduksi oleh strain Pseudomonas terisolasi tersebut. Sampel air laut sebanyak 500 ml dikumpulkan dari Danau Tondano dan sepanjang pantai dari daerah reklamasi Teluk Manado, lalu dibawa ke laboratorium untuk dianalisa lebih lanjut. Sampel air dihomogenkan secara manual, dan 1 ml sampel air dipipet dan kemudian dipindahkan secara terpisah ke 7 ml Tryptic Soy Broth (pH 7,4) dan Alkaline Peptone Water (pH 7,4). Sete-lah masa inkubasi 24 jam pada suhu 35oC, sejumlah sampel dipindahkan ke Pseudomonas F Agar, kemudian diinkubasi pada suhu 35oC selama 24 jam. Koloni yang tumbuh bebas kemudian dipindahkan ke agar miring dan disimpan pada suhu 4oC sebagai kultur stok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pseudomonas terisolasi bersifat chemoorganotrophic dan chemoautolithotrophic. Hampir semua Pseudomonas terisolasi menunjukkan kemampuan dalam penguraian ion merkuri, tetapi beberapa diantaranya dapat juga mengoksidasi merkuri. Pseudomonas yang bersifat chemooragnotrophic cenderung untuk mengurangi ion merkuri, tapi yang bersifat chemoautolithotrophic cenderung mengoksidasinya. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa laju reduksi-Hg oleh Pseudomonas tergantung pada jenis strainnya
STABILITAS STATIS KAPAL POLE AND LINE KM ALDEIS DI PELABUHAN PERIKANAN AERTEMBAGA BITUNG SULAWESI UTARA
The uncertainty of ocean conditions, such as currents and waves, affects the maneuver ability and stability of vessel on the water. For this reason, a fishing vessel should fulfil specific prerequisites, such as strong vessel construction, good stability to extreme oceanic conditions, good maneuver ability, and thrust. “Aldeis†boat has a dimension of 15.50 m long, 2.80 m wide, and 1.10 m deep. Average ratio of those parameters was 5.50 for L/B, 13.05 for L/D and 2.37 for B/D, rspectively. The coefficient values of the boat shape were Cb = 0.54 for Cb, Cp = 0.73 for Cp, 0.74 for C and 0.79 for C3, respectively. The boat possessed a maximum shakes to 140 of the boat slant when the righting arm was at 0.20 m of the center point
