White shrimp culture have been developed in some part of brackish water pond area in Indonesia, either in extensive, semi intensive or intensive technology and it resulted increasing on Indonesian shrimp culture production.  At post larval stages, the pleopods become fully developed and functional. The animals grow very fast in terms of size and are able to swim freely although early post larvae are still planktonic. This research was done to know post larval rearing in Hatchery of PT. Banggai Sentral Shrimp. Preparation of basic facilities such as larval rearing tanks, water supply and aeration system is one of the most important activities in hatchery operation.  Good water quality should be strictly maintained especially during this phase of larva rearing

All aquatic organisms must deal with the problem of maintaining internal homeostasis, a constant internal chemical environment in which that organism's enzymes can operate efficiently.  As we saw earlier, this is largely a matter of osmoregulation, but other factors are involved also.  Many marine organisms can get by with minimal osmoregulation since the oceans, where the enzymes evolved, are already a good environment; other marine organisms maintain their body fluids at ionic concentrations different from the surrounding ocean and must actively regulate ions.  Freshwater also calls for active measures to maintain proper osmotic balance

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of ginger extract addition and refrigerate storage on sensory quality of Tuna through panelist’s perception. Panelists (n=30) evaluated samples for overall appearance and flavor attribute using hedonic scale 1–7. The sample which is more acceptable by panelists on flavor attributes having 3% gingers extract and storage for 3 days. The less acceptable sample on flavor attribute having 0% ginger extract and storage for 9 days. On the other hand, the sample which is more acceptable by panelists on overall appearance having 0% ginger extract without storage treatment. The less acceptable sample on overall appearance having 3% ginger extract and storage for 9 days

Vitamin C content in the ovarium of African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) during reproductive cycle was investigated. One hundred twenty samples of females covering different stages of reproductive cycle were collected from fresh water ponds. The fishes were sacrifized and the ovarium were collected for analysis of gonad maturation stage (TKG), oocyt structure and vitamin C content in the ovarium.  Results indicated that average of vitamin C content of ovarium at stage I was 74.33mg/g (wet weight). The maximum content was found in stage III at level of 155.98mg/g (wet weight) and afterwards in the next stage vitamin C content decreased. The maximum of oocyt stadium 3 (oocyt vitelogenesis) was also found at this stage III. The findings indicate that vitamin C has a role in the reproductive cycle of catfish and its content is related to ovarium development and oogenesis

A study on spatial evaluation of mangrove resource was carried out in Pohuwato Regency, the province of Gorontalo, for 3 months. The mangrove resources in this area have been exploited to build ponds, houses and for firewood. As the result, there was a significant decrease in mangrove population. In this study, main data were gathered from Landsat TM Satellite Image 2000-2001 and 2009-2010, and others data collected from the field and interviews with local villagers. Aproximately 60 sampling points were observed and examined. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was applied to determine the extent of mangroves and its changes. In 2000-2001, the mangrove area was about 7,007.67 Ha, and reduced to 3,034.53 Ha in 2009-2010

MEDIAN LETHAL CONCENTRATION (LC-50) INSEKTISIDA DIKLOROMETAN PADA NENER BANDENG (Chanos-chanos Forks)

The mangrove forest is a transitional ecosystem between land and sea.  As a transition area between land and sea, mangrove forest ecosystems have environmental properties of a sharp gradient.  Tides can result in changes in several environmental factors, mainly temperature and salinity.  One type of animal that can tolerate these environmental changes are of a group of mollusks.  The purpose of this study was to identify the types of mollusks (Gastropoda) found on the floor of Mangrove Forest, using transects squares drawn perpendicular from the shoreline mangrove cutting edge.  From this research activity gastropods found in the floor of mangrove forest-Rap Rap village consists of five phyla, and nine species, namely: Family Cerithiidae, namely Cerithium cobelty and Clypeomorus coralium.  Family Littorinidae are Littoraria scabra, family Muricidae are Chicoreus capucinus, and morula margariticola Drupella rugosa, from the family of Nassarius Nassariidae Potamididae margaritifer and family, namely Telescopium telescopium and Terebralia sulcata

Coastal resources and space in the coastal around Gangga island, has been used for fishing activities and marine tourism. The purpose of this study to map the profile of bottom waters and to identify patterns sublitoral basic surface waters. The survey was conducted by using the acoustic method of sounding, followed by sediment sampling as well as shooting on the surface of the bottom waters. The result of observation indicates that the basic conditions of slope waters around the island of Ganga slope varies from flat to very steep slopes. Waters of the western Gangga island smaller flat slope found in coastal landform ranging from mangroves, coral reefs and seagrass. Bottom waters to the east of Gangga island to steep slope, with the basic pattern dominated by coral reefs and sand

Sea urchins of different colors were collected 50 individuals each and measured their morphological characters. The data were then transformed to natural logarithm and analyzed using regression. The comparison of the regression line intercept for the shell diameter-height relationship did not show any difference, but there was a significant difference for the shell lenght-heigth relationship. The comparison between different colors exhibited variations in the shell morphology of each sea urchin population. The growth of black spined-sea urchin (Echinometra mathaei), was negative allometric; the fact that they were mostly found in the narrow crevices might have influenced their growth
