Scientific Knowledge of the Human Side of Information Security as a Basis for Sustainable Trainings in Organizational Practices
Comprehensive digitization leads to new chal-lenges because of cybercrime and related security countermeasures. There is no doubt that this will fundamentally affect our lives and is leading to an increase in the importance of information security (IS). However, technology solutions alone are not sufficient to ensure IS countermeasures. The human side of security is important to protect organizational assets like user information and systems. The paper illustrates these relationships in terms of information security awareness (ISA), examining its goals and the factors influencing it through the systematic analysis and review of scientific literature and the transfer of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. We reviewed the publications of leading academic journals in the field of IS over the past decade
Improved Syringe Extruder for Improved Processing of Biological Materials
3 dimensional (3D) printing evolved during the last decade to a consumer friendly and affordable craft. Furthermore, implementations of this techniques in the field of biotechnological research and development within laboratories is a very expansive process. Bio-printers’ prices cover a wide spectrum and most basic models are available for around 5000€. On the other end, high-end printer machines with a vast variety of features are available for several hundreds of thousands of euros. Thus, due to the immense potential in the field of Biotechnology the availability of this technology for research purpose should be enhanced. A developed ecological syringe extruder prototype for processing of biological based gels has been further improved. The original prototype was capable to processing multiple layers of agar with concentrations of 1% and 2.5%. Based on these results the prototype was revised regarding printing process parameter, which include among others applied forces to the substrate, air-ventilation, and heating of the substrate. The process behavior will be simulated with computational fluid dynamics for the processing of biological based substrate. After a concluding validation these results are intended to be implemented into a new design for improved processing of a variety of bioinks
Wildauer Studiengang Bibliotheksinformatik : ein Plädoyer für das lebenslange Lernen
The article examines the claim to and possibilities of lifelong learning in permanent job positions. It argues that continuous and systematic training on the job is crucial, and analyses various possibilities to do this. The on-the-job master programme ‘Library Informatics’ is introduced as one specific example. Provocatively, my argument is based on the unspoken assumption that the service spectrum of information providers is perceived as all the more convincing and authentic within their respective educational sector, if their own attitude towards learning is proactive and inspiring.
Parallelised photoacoustic signal acquisition using a Fabry-Perot sensor and a camera-based interrogation scheme
Tomographic photoacoustic (PA) images acquired using a Fabry-Perot (FP) based scanner offer high resolution and image fidelity but can result in long acquisition times due to the need for raster scanning. To reduce the acquisition times, a parallelised camera-based PA signal detection scheme is developed. The scheme is based on using a sCMOScamera and FPI sensors with high homogeneity of optical thickness. PA signals were acquired using the camera-based setup and the signal to noise ratio (SNR) was measured. A comparison of the SNR of PA signal detected using 1) a photodiode in a conventional raster scanning detection scheme and 2) a sCMOS camera in parallelised detection scheme is made. The results show that the parallelised interrogation scheme has the potential to provide high speed PA imaging

The paper comprises a simulative analysis of a modern security control lane for passengers and hand luggage as will apply at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt. After a description of the procedures of a security control, a detailed model will be built utilizing the simulation software, CAST Terminal, and using real passenger parameters and process times to analyze the capacity of the control lane and locate a possible bottleneck. Due to purposive staff changes in the second hand luggage control, capacitive effects could be studied in consideration of different alarm rates of the baggage screening system. With an increasing alarm rate the capacitive bottleneck moves from luggage pick-up to second hand luggage control, which makes it necessary to employ a second security inspector
In recent years, the entry into universities for professionally qualified people has become more simple. This article will shed light on the heterogeneous paths of the vocationally qualified into study and show how in our mathematics pre-courses we build on the previous knowledge of our prospective students. A survey carried out among prospective professionally qualified students should provide more information about the different ways in which vocationally qualified students start their studies and for which personal reasons they do so. Because mathematics is usually a major hurdle, especially for the professionally qualified, the University of Applied Sciences Wildau has adapted its preliminary course offerings to the more heterogeneous student body
C60 fullerene accumulation in human leukemic cells and perspectives of LED-mediated photodynamic therapy
Recent progress in nanobiotechnology has attracted interest to a biomedical application of the carbon nanostructure C60 fullerene since it possesses a unique structure and versatile biological activity. C60 fullerene potential application in the frame of cancer photodynamic therapy (PDT) relies on rapid development of new light sources as well as on better understanding of the fullerene interaction with cells.
The aim of this study was to analyze C60 fullerene effects on human leukemic cells (CCRF-CEM) in combination with high power single chip light-emitting diodes (LEDs) light irradiation of different wavelengths: ultraviolet (UV, 365 nm), violet (405 nm), green (515 nm) and red (632 nm). The time-dependent accumulation of fullerene C60 in CCRF-CEM cells up to 250 ng/106 cells at 24 h with predominant localization within mitochondria was demonstrated with immunocytochemical staining and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. In a cell viability assay we studied photoexcitation of the accumulated C60 nanostructures with ultraviolet or violet LEDs and could prove that significant phototoxic effects did arise. A less pronounced C60 fullerene phototoxic effect was observed after irradiation with green, and no effect was detected with red light. A C60 fullerene photoactivation with violet light induced substantial ROS generation and apoptotic cell death, confirmed by caspase3/7 activation and plasma membrane phosphatidylserine externalization. Our work proved C60 fullerene ability to induce apoptosis of leukemic cells after photoexcitation with high power single chip 405 nm LED as a light source. This underlined the potential for application of C60 nanostructure as a photosensitizer for anticancer therapy
