Design of Curriculum Adaptation Model Based on Decision Support System

    Get PDF
Inclusive education aims to provide access and accommodation for students to achieve achievements based on their competence. A curriculum adaptation model has been developed as a guide to fulfill the student learning needs. This model is inefficient because the teacher considers the initial assessment and modifications/adjustments in learning outcomes troublesome. This study explains the development of a more efficient and attractive decision-support technology-based curriculum adaptation model. This technology development results 6-step system development process. The development design is carried out by implementing a decision support system that can reveal the student characteristics. It also can recommend student learning needs and achievement. So, the teachers can use that information to develop learning designs that adjust to students' characteristics. The analysis outline consists of procedures, component design models, realization, and implementation involving experts and target users to provide input on the design model. The urgency of this research lies in the fact that the steps involved in the curriculum adaptation model, particularly the pre-assessment are often perceived as burdensome, time-consuming, and complex. Teachers need a more efficient way to conduct assessments, obtain detailed analytical results quickly without excessive effort, and receive practical recommendations for curriculum adaptation. This research addresses these needs, which represents its novel contribution

Assessment of learning outcomes for students with special needs (PDBK) in inclusive schools faces various challenges, especially in providing accommodations that suit individual needs. This study aims to collect empirical data regarding the evaluation of learning outcomes for students with special needs in primary schools that provide inclusive education in Jakarta. This study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, gathering data from teachers in inclusive schools using questionnaires. We analyzed the data using descriptive statistical methods to provide a clear picture of the applied assessment practices. We conducted this research using quantitative methodology between March 2021 and November 2023, collecting data through questionnaires and analyzing it with descriptive statistical methods. The results indicated that evaluation practices in inclusive schools have not fully accommodated the needs of students with special needs. These findings emphasize the importance of improving teacher training and resources to support inclusive education and provide fair assessment for all students, including students with disabilities. Extending exam time, adjusting exam materials, and implementing more inclusive assessment procedures are some of the things that require improvement. These findings show that the current assessment methodology is inadequate and indicate the need for improvements to ensure more inclusive and equitable learning outcomes for students with special needs. The study also highlights the importance of improving teacher training and providing better resources to support inclusive education and ensure equal assessment for all students, including students with disabilities

Not every student gets a learning system that suits their abilities. Therefore, teachers need to know the stages of modifying the curriculum so that it is according to the abilities of students. This study aims to find the stages of modifying the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary school level in the form of a learning program design in mathematics into fractional material that is adapted to the needs of students with learning disabilities. The research was conducted using the Research and Development research method, the development model carried out in this study used the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study were one fifth-grade teacher and one slow learner who was in fifth grade at SDN 195 Isola, Bandung City. The results of the research found that after the modification of the curriculum, the subject's math score increased from 29 to 100. In addition, the subject dared to answer questions when asked to repeat the elements of fractions, another impression that the subject did not feel distinguished in giving teaching material

Designing Assessment Instruments for Mild Intellectual Disability Students on Gardening Product Marketing

    Get PDF
The study focuses on understanding the challenges, capabilities, and requirements of students with mild intellectual disabilities in marketing skills related to vegetable gardening. It aims to create a suitable learning assessment tool for these students. The researcher observed that teachers lacked a specific assessment instrument for evaluating the marketing of garden products. Consequently, a teacher improvised a self-made assessment. The research methodology employed a descriptive approach within a qualitative framework. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, documentation analysis, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and validation. Validation involved multiple stakeholders: a class teacher, a vice head of curriculum, a vocational teacher, and two students with mild intellectual disabilities. The assessment instrument, tailored for mild intellectual disability students, focused on three main aspects: self-development, language and mathematics abilities, and marketing theories. Two validators validated this instrument. The study anticipates several implications: students may enhance their skills and insights, teachers can improve teaching quality, school principals can better address learning needs, and parents gain insights into their children's interests and talents. The research addresses the dearth of appropriate assessment tools for marketing gardening products to students with mild intellectual disability. Its findings are poised to benefit various stakeholders, including students, teachers, school administrators, and parents, by fostering skill development, enhancing teaching quality, and facilitating a better understanding of students' needs and abilities

    Get PDF
Parenting children with autism triggers stress for parents, especially mothers. Every mother needs to have coping strategies to overcome the stress experienced during parenting. This study aims to examine coping strategies in mothers of children with autism. A total of 50 mothers of children with autism participated in this research by filling out the F-COPES scale questionnaire, which consists of 5 subscales: acquiring social support, reframing, seeking spiritual support, mobilizing family support, and passive appraisal. Data was analyzed using Pearson Correlation analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results show that the F-COPES scores of mothers of children with autism are in the moderate category. Reframing, seeking spiritual support, and mobilizing family support are three coping strategies that are most commonly used. Age and number of autistic symptoms in children influence the level of coping strategies of mothers of autistic children. The older the autistic child, the better the mother's coping strategies. Conversely, the more autistic symptoms a child has, the lower the coping strategies the mother has

Technology Support for the Inclusion of Deaf Students in Special School Sukabumi City

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic brought rapid changes in various areas of life, including education and technology. One of the learning media that the deaf can use to improve their ability to compose sentence structures is I-CHAT (I Can Hear and Talk). I-CHAT is a portal that contains applications that function as tools for the deaf in language acquisition. In communicating, mastery of sentence structure is crucial. It is because with the correct sentence structure, other people will better understand what we are talking about, and besides that, communication becomes more effective and efficient. Communication barriers that occur in deaf children are caused by hearing impairment, which ultimately requires deaf children only to use sight to acquire their receptive language. This has an impact on the acquisition of imperfect or partial deaf children's receptive language because not everything they see can be understood. Therefore, if a deaf child makes a sentence, the sentence structure is sometimes wrong. This research aims to determine the use of I-CHAT in the preparation of sentence structures for deaf students at Inclusive School Sukabumi City. This research is experimental with a quantitative approach. The results of the research show that the use of I-CHAT can improve the ability to compose sentence structures for deaf children in Special School Sukabumi City
