The underlying mechanism behind quest for significance and its role in violence extremism: A systematic literature review

Based on the Quest for Significance Theory (SQT), violent extremism is a consequence of the quest for significance activated by significance loss, significance gain, and threat of significance loss. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize previous research related to the quest for significance using SQT. The authors selected 103 articles, and 24 articles met the inclusion criteria. The review results indicate that loss of significance consistently tends to activate the quest for significance and predicts violent extremism stemming from various factors, including vulnerable environments, perceptions of injustice, social rejection, and failure to achieve goals. Conversely, significance gain shows inconsistency; studies suggest this factor strengthens, weakens, or predicts future involvement in violent extremism. There has been no empirical research specifically addressing the threat of significance loss. The measurement of significance loss and significance gain has not been clearly distinguished and uses various proxies, indicating that standardized measurement tools have not yet been established. Additionally, there is still overlap in the operationalization of measurement between significance loss and the quest for significance

Fraction Understanding in Children: Bibliometric Analysis

This study used a bibliometric analysis approach to investigate the literature on children’s development of fraction understanding. Fraction understanding is crucial in early mathematics education because it is the foundation for more advanced concepts. Bibliometric analysis gives a comprehensive data-driven assessment of research trends, significant contributors, and emerging themes in this field. The data were sourced from the Scopus journal database, encompassing 228 articles from 1975 to 2023. Analytical and visualization tools, including VOS Viewer and the Bibliometrix R-Package, were utilized to map connections among journals, authors, countries/regions, and keywords. The findings indicated a trend of increasing publication volume over the past 15 years, with a yearly growth in articles on this topic. Keyword analysis revealed that, within these publications, “fraction” was the most frequently encountered term, followed by “mathematics” and “decimals”. Moreover, there has been a shift in research focus from studying the challenges in conceptual understanding of fractions among children to investigating alternative interventions designed to address these challenges. This study is a foundational reference for future research on the progression of fraction understanding in children

A Scoping Review of Positive Psychology Studies on Widowed Older Women

Previous studies on older widows have focused on the negative aspects of spousal loss, such as loneliness, anxiety, and depression, positioning them as vulnerable groups. This perspective tends to overlook the potential of older widows in achieving successful aging. This study aimed to map the concepts within the scope of positive psychology that have been applied in research on older widows, and to explore how these approaches can support healthy and successful aging. A literature search was conducted on Google Scholar, covering publications from 2016 to 2025. A total of 9,480 articles were identified and screened based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. After reviewing abstracts and full texts, eight articles were included in this scoping review. There is a consistent pattern: older widows can achieve successful aging through positive psychology and spirituality. However, several contradictions between concepts were found, particularly regarding the sources of emotional resilience, between external social support and internal spiritual strength. Views on the meaning of life also vary, rooted in past achievements and acceptance of painful experiences and present hopes. Adaptation is described through both active (autoplastic adaptation) and passive (surrender to fate) approaches. Optimism is often considered a universal strength, but it has not been widely studied in the context of the socioeconomic limitations faced by older widows. The integration of intrapersonal aspects, e.g., resilience, meaning in life, well-being, and optimism, along with social and spiritual dimensions, including social support and spirituality, contributes to helping older widows achieve successful aging

A Literature Review on Vocational Interest Measurements Using Bibliometric Analysis

Vocational interest assessments play an important role in supporting high school students in identifying appropriate career paths, particularly for those planning to pursue tertiary education. Nevertheless, a comprehensive evaluation of the literature is essential to assess the relevance, gaps, and current state of vocational interest measurement. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze global publication trends and research related to vocational interest assessment. Using a bibliometric approach, 232 articles were retrieved from the Dimensions AI database, covering the period from 1924 to 2024. The Journal of Vocational Behavior emerged as the most prominent journal in this field, while James B. Round from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign was identified as the most influential author. Between 2014 and 2024, 62 relevant publications were recorded, including six from Indonesia. This study offered insights into publication growth, author affiliations, and key themes while identifying underdeveloped areas requiring further exploration in the measurement of vocational interest

Loneliness and Suicidal Behavior: A Meta-Analysis

Loneliness is an emotional condition that humans experience as social beings, which can be felt physically and psychologically. Loneliness can have a negative impact on mental health, e.g., causing a sense of isolation, stress, depression, and the development of suicidal tendencies. Several studies have shown variations in the correlation results between loneliness and suicidal behavior. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between loneliness and suicidal behavior across 19 studies (2015–2024) through a meta-analysis. This study used two artifacts, namely sampling and measurement errors. The results of the meta-analysis based on sampling error resulted in a correlation of 0.45, and a correlation of 0.51 was found when accounting for measurement error. The magnitude of the correlation indicates a moderate relationship. Positive correlation results suggest that loneliness can contribute to the emergence of suicidal behavior

Pencitraan Otak Dengan Diffusion Tensor Imaging Dalam Riset Psikologi Menggunakan Tract Based Spatial Statistics

Family Well-being in the Digital Age: A Systematic Review of Social Media Literacy using ADO and TCM Framework

Social media platforms are now inseparable from children as well as parents, making social media literacy a critical skill for maintaining family well-being in the digital age. This analysis explores whether social media literacy genuinely influences family well-being, as reflected in how each family member engages with social media. A systematic literature review was conducted using Antecedents, Decisions, Outcomes (ADO) and Theory, Context, Method (TCM) frameworks analyzing 66 studies. Findings identified five main antecedents: individual and psychological factors, social and family influences, access to media and technology, intervention and empowerment, and cultural and environmental context. These antecedents shape family decisions: responsible digital use, parental mediation, privacy, and the use of social media for education and advocacy, impacting the objective and subjective well-being of the family both positively and negatively. The review highlights theoretical, contextual and methodological gaps including geographical bias towards Western countries, the dominance of cross-sectional studies and limited focus on intergenerational digital literacy
