Thediet arrangement for the patient is hard to be created because it needs the knowledge from thenutritionists (expert) and calculation so that needs program to make it easier and givealternative solution for the patient to obtain a healthy balanced diet. Prototype of expert systemfor calculating amount of calorie for Diabetes Mellitus patient is one of the alternatives fromvarious systems that have been used to overcome the problems they faced. The aim of thissystem is to make prototype of expert system for calculating amount of calorie diet to helppatient on healing process. The design of this expert system using forward chaining and brocarules. This knowledge base is generated through interviews and library research from thenutritionists who have experience in the field. The research methodologyuses a System Development Life Cycle and systems development approach using structuredmethods . Results of the study was a model project selection decision support applications thatimplement both methods .
