Content Creation with GenAI: Use Case on ClimaClic's Instagram Marketing
The availability of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools has substantially increased, resulting in numerous positive impacts on the marketing sector. However, issues related to misinformation and deepfakes, biases and fairness, privacy, and ethical concerns, among others, have been highlighted. This research aims to examine the effects of utilizing GenAI for text, image, and audio creation in Instagram marketing. Employing the Customer Experience Tracking method, the study evaluated the differences between traditionally created and AI-generated Instagram Reels. The findings indicated that AI-generated content can garner higher levels of user attention, thereby enhancing brand interest. Negative effects such as mistrust or ethical concerns associated with AI were not substantiated in this study. These results suggest that companies can enhance their social media campaigns by integrating AI tools for content creation
Thermo-cyclically operated metal oxide gas sensor arrays for analysis of dissolved volatile organic compounds in fermentation processes: Part II – Quasi online monitoring in biogas fermentation
This study presents a quasi-online method for monitoring of dissolved volatile fatty acids (VFAs) in biogas fermentation processes with a carrier gas probe by use of thermo-cyclically operated metal oxide gas sensor arrays. Each of the two sensor arrays comprises a pure SnO2 and three different SnO2/additive-composites (additives: alumina, YSZ, NASICON) but differ by SnO2 synthesis routes, namely Flame Spray Pyrolysis (FSP) and Sol-Gel (SG) technique, respectively. This allowed comparative studies of the influence of layer morphology on VFA sensing characteristics. For sensitive determination of the dissolved VFAs besides high concentrations of biogas components like CO or CH4, first a pre-treatment routine of the fermentation sample was introduced to remove those physically dissolved gases without losing VFAs. The Conductance-over-Time-Profiles (CTPs) of eight different sensing layers were measured simultaneously at exposure to the gases extracted from the fermentation sample at different pH conditions. Almost all the investigated SnO2/additive-composites show CTP-features clearly correlating with the undissociated VFA even at concentrations below 120 ppm as referenced by GC-analysis. The lower detection limit is well below inhibitory concentration for fermentation processes. As expected, most pronounced CTPs representing actual VFAs situation were measured at pH 3, well below the pKa of the VFAs. The FSP-layers highlighted clearly better sensitivity and CTP specificity of higher quality compared to SG-layers. Among the SnO2/additives, the CTP-features of the SnO2(FSP)/NASICON and SnO2(SG)/NASICON layers showed the best specificity to acetic and propionic acid. For the first time, quasi-online analysis of VFAs using metal oxide gas sensors for early warning of VFA-development in biogas fermentation processes was demonstrated
Evaluating pyrolysis results: The impact of biomass particle size and operating temperatures across biomass types
The thesis titled: “Evaluating pyrolysis results: The impact of biomass particle size and operating temperatures across biomass types” focuses on studying the impacts of two biomasses ‘pelletized wood and straw’ pyrolysis, and the effect of changes in the particle size. Pelletized form samples used in this study were of size of 10-15 mm while the crushed forms were of sizes that were 2.5mm or smaller in diameter and operating temperatures of 300°C, 550°C, and 800°C. Higher temperatures were seen to increase the yield of gas and decrease the yield of char, especially at 800°C when Biomass 2 recorded a significantly higher yield of gas, especially in the pellet form. The research showed that reduced particle sizes and temperatures between 550°C and 800°C enhanced the volumes of gases produced and fewer solid by-products remaining. It was found that the yield of bio-oil from both biomass types was higher at 550°C, a fact that suggests that this temperature is a critical tipping point for the maximum yield of the liquid product. Even though using higher temperatures may lead to an increase in gas production. A balance conversion was observed at this temperature with an optimum thermochemical conversion efficiency in mass balance, high char formation, and higher oil yields. Furthermore, the highest production mass balance efficiency was found to be over 90% for 550°C in less than 2mm size and 800°C pelletized form in both of the biomasses.
The most noticeable improvements to the device were made to better determine the safety and efficacy of the pyrolysis process. After it was determined that the nitrogen purge to prevent oxidation was unnecessary in this experiment, it was suggested only to be used for cooling the device after pyrolysis is finished. A permanently wired thermocouple was installed to provide a constant, precise temperature reading
Implementation and Comparison of Imaging Methods for Ground Penetrating Radar
This work presents the comparison of the commonly used B-scan imaging method with a delay and sum (DAS) beam-forming algorithm for ground penetrating radar (GPR). Utilizing an implemented ultra-wideband (UWB) stepped frequency GPR, using only in-phase data, real-world measurements are compared and discussed. The reduced complexity of the proposed system could increase the speed of data acquisition and processing as well as reduce system cost while providing similar measurement accuracy. This could be of interest for applications such as the localization of underground utility piping, archaeology or mine detection
Comparison of B-Scan and Delay-and-Sum Imaging Algorithms for Ground Penetrating Radar
This paper presents a comparison of the classically used B-scan imaging method with delay-and-sum (DAS) beamforming algorithm for ground penetrating radar (GPR). As part of this work, an ultra-wideband (UWB) stepped frequency continuous wave (SFCW) GPR system with reduced complexity and faster acquisition of real measurement data is introduced. The two imaging methods are presented and their efficacy is evaluated with practical, comparative measurements obtained with the proposed system. The results provided are of interest to a multitude of applications such as the localization of underground utility piping, archaeology and mine detection

The foot strike angle predicts three-dimensional knee joint moments in preplanned and unplanned sidestep cuts
This study investigated if knee joint moments are related to the foot strike angle in preplanned and unplanned handball-specific sidestep cuts performed by n = 51 female handball players. Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) with the foot strike angle as predictor variable was performed on the knee joint moment vector field (Mxyz). Subsequently, post-hoc tests using CCA for moment couples and linear regression for individual moment components were performed. In both conditions, the foot strike angle was related to Mxyz. However, the relationship remains partially unexplained when the three-dimensionality of the moment vector remains unaccounted for, especially in the unplanned cut. Given the time periods in which correlations exist, the foot strike angle shows potential to reduce multi-plane knee loading associated with ACL injury
The trade-off between cumulative joint loading and cost of transport when altering anterior trunk lean angle in running
The study aimed to establish dose-response relationships between systematically altered anterior trunk leaning (ATL) and lower extremity cumulative joint loading (angular impulse x number of strides) as well as cost of transport (COT) in distance running. Twenty-eight recreational runners underwent a series of six treadmill runs (2.5 m/s) with five predefined ATL conditions (from -4° extension to 28° flexion) and one self-selected ATL condition for five minutes with 3D motion capture and spirometry. Increasing ATL systematically decreased cumulative knee joint loading and increased cumulative hip joint loading in all conditions. However, running outside the preferred running style increased COT. Designing ATL-based overuse load management interventions shows promise, but clinical implementation requires careful consideration of the COT and joint loading trade-offs
