Comparison of power generation characteristics between cone-shaped and dome-shaped solar thermal power generation devices
In recent years, carbon neutrality has become a global watchword. The introduction of renewable energy is considered to be the most promising measure of carbon neutrality. In particular, photovoltaic power generation using solar energy plays a major role among them. Photovoltaic power generation using solar cells is widely used because it is easy to install and has a long service life. On the other hand, it has many problems, low efficiency, leveling, destruction of nature, and so on. Therefore, we are considering solar thermal power generation as a method to compensate for those faults. In this study, we have investigated the power generation capability of a basic solar thermal power generation device using thermoelectric elements. For that purpose, we have prototyped two kinds of small thermal power generation devices, one is cone-type, and the other is a dome-type thermal power generation device. As the results of experiments, it has been confirmed that dome-type one can generate much power per unit area and both devices have a potential to generate more than 2mW. Referring to those results, it is concluded that a thermal power generation device can generate more than 1W by increasing the sunlight incident area.departmental bulletin pape
Analysing Metonymy in TOEIC Textbooks: A Cognitive Linguistic Perspective
【要旨】英語の実態として、ある名詞 (句) の意味の焦点が一文中で揺れ動くことがある。例えばFeeding the growing world population is a significant challenge. departmental bulletin pape
Learning to lead: Teachers preparing high school students for leadership roles
This qualitative study investigates the dynamics of student leadership development in a Japanese high school. Using a framework of situated learning(Lave & Wegner, 1991)the research explores how student leadership is shaped by school culture and societal norms. Through in-depth interviews with four teachers, three key themes emerged. First, the study reveals that leadership roles should be accessible to all students, promoting inclusivity within the school environment. Second, it underscores the importance of extra-curricular activities since student leadership roles were self-initiated because they are not always readily assigned. Third, the findings suggest that student leadership is situationally bound, shaped by the specific context of the school and the broader cultural framework of Japanese society. By examining the perspectives of four educators, this study provides insights into the complexities of developing student leadership, emphasizing its flexible and culturally situated nature. These findings have implications for educational practices that aim to cultivate effective, context-sensitive leadership in students.departmental bulletin pape
