The Laying Rooster Performance Fed with the Addition Indigofera Leaf Meal-based Diet
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Indigofera leaf meal (ILM) and to measure the optimum composition of the addition of ILM in the diet on the performance of layer roosters. The study conducted experiments on 100-layer roosters of the Cobb strain. The experimental design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications, each replication with five chicks. The treatments were R0 (100% commercial feed or non-ILM); R1 (90% commercial feed + 10% ILM); R2 (80% commercial feed + 20% ILM); and R3 (70% commercial feed + 30% ILM). The data were processed by analysis of variance (ANOVA one way) and further tested by Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT). The results showed that the addition of 10% ILM in the diet could increase (P0,05). It can conclude that adding 10% Indigofera leaf meal to the diet can have a good effect on the performance of layer roosters.Keywords: indigofera leaf meal, layer rooster, performanc
Growth Performance of Starter Phase Crossbred Native Chickens Fed Silage of Banana Peel
Banana peel is one of the non-conventional feed ingredients, but its utilization is still limited due to high content of crude fiber and tannins. The usage of 10% tapioca and 21 days of fermentation time in silage production was able to reduce crude fiber and tannin levels of kepok banana peel. A four-week dietary treatment was conducted with 160 day old of joper strain, a cross-bred native chickens, to determine the utilization silage of banana peel (SBP). The birds were randomly assigned to four dietary treatments with five replication of eight chicks each in a completely randomized design. The treatments consisted of banana peel silage inclusion at 0, 10, 20, and 30% in the diet. Data were analyze by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and means were compared using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that inclusion of SBP had significant effect (p0.05) on feed intake. It was concluded that the optimal growth response of broilers was indicated in the inclusion of SBP up to 10% of the diet.Keywords: feed conversion, feed intake, silage banana peel, silage weight gai
The Effect of Pumpkin Flour Filler Substitution on the Nutrition Facts of Beef Sausage
The objectives of the experiment were to determine the effect of pumpkin flour filler substitution on the nutrition facts of beef sausage. The research material was divided into five substitution treatments of pumpkin flour as a filler in sausage processing, namely: 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of the total filler. Each treatment consisted of five replications. The nutrition facts of sausages was calculated based on the nutritional adequacy rate of sausages which refers to the average energy sufficiency for the Indonesian population per person per day, which is 2,150 kcal, total protein 60 g, total fat 67 g, and 30 g food fiber with a 50 g serving size. The data from the calculation of the nutrition facts of sausages were analyzed by analyzing variance and then tested by using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the sausages substituted filler with pumpkin flour had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on total protein, fiber, and β-carotene, but did not affect the energy from fat and total fat of beef sausage. Revealing the Genetic Mutation in a Diprosopus Monauchenos Calf
ABSTRACTDiprosopus Monauchenos (DM) is one of congenital defect that can be caused by a genetical factor. This study was conducted to reveal the genetic mutation of DM cattle. Research showed that along 354 bp of partial BTA13 sequence (69,985,393th - 69,985,745th nucleotide) in DM and normal samples were obtained by sequencing analysis. Research showed that one insertion/deletion (indel) mutation at 28th and two transition mutations at 241th and 269th positions were detected in both samples. The obtained sequence in the present study was located at the intronic region of LPIN3 gene (69,972,281th - 69,991,534th nucleotide). In the future, a depth research to investigate the genetic mutation in DM animal with whole genome analysis is important to get the results accurately.Keywords: cattle, DM, mutations, sequencing, BTA1
Profile of Total Leukocytes and Differential Leukocytes in Broilers Using Herbal Feed Additives
ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect of herbal plant-based feed additives, namely Aloe vera and turmeric flour on the appearance of total leukocytes and leukocyte differential in broilers. The material used for this research is 64 Day old Chick (DOC). The method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replicates which contained 4 heads. Total leukocytes profile and leukocyte differential including eosinophils, basophils, heterophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes were observed in this study. The results showed that the combination of Aloe vera and turmeric flour had a significant effect (p0.05) on eosinophils (0.27±0.25) and basophils (0.03±0.05), however heterophile (3.42±0.45), lymphocytes (6.48±0.16), and monocytes (0.54±0.16) showed a significant effect (p<0.05). The conclusion is that the addition of herbal feed additives from Aloe vera flour, turmeric flour, and their combination can improve and enhance immune conditions in terms of the total leukocytes and leukocyte differential profiles in broilers.Keywords: Aloe vera flour, turmeric flour, leukocyte profile, antimicrobial
The Conservation on Indonesian Native Chicken Biodiversity Through Primordial Germ Cells Cryopreservation
ABSTRACT Primordial germ cells (PGCs) can be cryopreserved and used as a potential tool for the preservation of poultry biodiversity. By transplanting donor PGCs into recipient embryos to produce chimera germline, PGCs can migrate to developing gonads where germ cells are produced, thus enabling reproduction of offspring derived from donor PGCs via mating of chimera germline. Collection of PGCs from the circulation of chickens. Fertile eggs were incubated in a portable incubator for 2.5 days. Purification of circulating PGCs with nycodenz. Then the PGCs were frozen using the 5% DMSO cryoprotectant and to determine the success of cryopreservation, the donor PGCs were transplanted into the recipient embryos. The number of circulating PGCs was 50.58 ± 5.79 cells per embryo, the percentage of PGCs viability after thawing was 80.18 ± 1.25%. From the results of the PGCs transplant by looking at the migration of donor PGCs in recipient embryos with PKH-16 staining, it is clear. In conclusion, PGCs cryopreservation in this study can generally support the survival of good chickens and it is hoped that this PGCs conservation protocol can be used for other native chickens.Keywords: PGC, cryopreservation, chicken, conservatio
Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula pada Rhizosfer Rumput Mulato (Brachiaria hybrid cv. Mulato)
ABSTRAKRumput mulato tumbuh subur pada lahan-lahan marginal, tanah yang unsur hara sangat rendah. Kemampuan rumput mulato tumbuh dengan subur pada lahan tersebut menandakan adanya unsur lain yang bersimbiosis dengannya. Kemungkinan yang menyebabkan rumput mulato tumbuh dengan baik adalah keberadaan mikoriza yang mengkoloni akar atau yang berada pada rhizosfer. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengekspolorasi dan mengidentifikasi jenis fungi mikoriza arbuskula pada rhizosfer rumput mulato. Sampel tanah dan akar rumpu mulato diambil dilahan laboratorium lapangan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Halu Oleo. Analisis sampel tanah untuk mengekspolorasi dan mengidentifikasi jenis fungi mikoriza arbuskula dilakukan di pusat penelitian Biologi LIPI Bogor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada rhizozfer rumput mulato ditemukan 5 jenis FMA yang berasal dari 3 genus mikoriza misalnya glomus sp, gigaspora sp, dan acaulospora sp. Jenis glomus sp ditemukan sejumlah 7 spora, giga spora gregaria ditemukan sejumlah 1 spora. Sedangkan jenis gigaspora gregaria N.C. Schenck dan T.H. Nicolson ditemukan sejumlah 13 spora. Acaulospora tuberculata Janos dan Trappe diemukan sejumlah 4 spora, sedangkan acaulospora scrobiculata Trappe ditemukan sejumlah 1 spora. Pada rhizosfer rumput mulato terjadi kolonisasi mikoriza karena ditandai dengan adanya struktur FMA. Struktur FMA yang ditemukan adalah hifa eksternal, hifa internal, vesikula dan arbuskula. Persentase kolonisasi FMA pada akar rumput mulato yakni 49-88% atau rata-rata sekitar 72,87%.Kata Kunci: Mikoriza arbuskula, glomus, Brachiaria hybrid cv. The ability of mulato grass to thrive on the land indicates the presence of other elements that symbiosis with it. The possibility that causes mulato grass to grow will is the presence of mycorrhizal that colonizes the roots or that resides in the rhizosphere. The study aimed to explore and identify the type of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the rhizosphere of mulato grass. Soils and roots samples mulato grass were taken at the field laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Science, Halu Oleo University. Analysis of soil samples to expolore and identify the type of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi was conducted Biology research center LIPI, Bogor. The results showed that in rhizosphere mulato grass 5 types were found of AMF derived genera three of mycorrhizal such as glomus sp, gigaspora sp and acaulospora sp. The glomus sp types found 7 spores number. Gigaspores gregaria found 1 spores number. The gigaspores gregaria N.C Schenck and T.H. Nicolson found 13 spores number. The acaulospora tuberculata Janis and Trappe found 4 spores number. While acaulospora scrobiculata Trappe found 1 spores number. Penerapan Strategi Pemasaran Penjualan Produk Madu dalam Kategori Produk Terlaris dan Kategori Harga Melalui Marketplace
ABSTRAK Penjualan madu di marketplace shopee di dalam kategori terlaris sebanyak 1 ribu+ dan untuk kategori harga rendah ke tinggi sebanyak 1 serta pada kategori harga tinggi ke rendah sebanyak 1,2 ribu. Setiap kategori direkomendasikan toko yang berbeda oleh sistem shopee. Daya beli konsumen dipengaruhi adanya daya minat dari produk yang ditawarkan sehingga untuk meningkatkan tersebut maka diperlukan rancangan strategi pemasaran. Di Indonesia penggunaan marketplace digital seperti shopee sedang berkembang sangat pesat sehingga banyak unit usaha yang menggunakannya. Efektifitas Hormon TDZ (Thiadiazuron) pada Multiplikasi Kultur In-Vitro Terhadap Pertumbuhan Mutan Lamtoro Varietas Tarramba (Leucaena lucochephala) Teradaptasi Asam
ABSTRAK Leucaena leucocephala merupakan tumbuhan pakan ternak kelompok leguminosa yang memiliki nutrisi yang baik untuk ternak. pemuliaan tumbuhan pakan ternak merupakan salah satu strategi untuk meningkatkan pemenuhan pakan dalam segi kualitas,kuantitas dan kontinuitas. Teknik kultur jaringan merupakan langkah untuk memperoleh tanaman pakan yang yang seragam, waktu yang relatif cepat dan bibit yang dihasilkan memiliki kemampuan adaptasi terhadap berbagai cekaman dengan treatment yang diberikan pada media tanam sehingga dihasilkan bibit yang unggul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas hormon TDZ pada tumbuhan pakan ternak Leucaena leucocephala dengan teknik kultur jaringan (pembiakan in-vitro). Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah RAL dengan eksplan tanaman lamtoro sebanyak 13 galur yaitu M1-M11 (mutan+MS+1ppm TDZ), K0 (kontrol+MS+0ppm TDZ), K1 (kontrol+MS+1ppm TDZ), masing masing 15 ulangan. Perlakuan yang berpengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji tukey. Variable yang diamati adalah pertambahan tinggi vertikal tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun majemuk, persentase kerontokan daun dan jumlah tunas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian hormon TDZ konsentrasi 1ppm pada media tanam Leucaena leucocephala cv. Tarramba berpengaruh nyata (p<0.05) terhadap pertumbuhan mutan. pertambahan tinggi vertikal tanaman menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada galur M9, diameter batang menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada galur M3, jumlah daun majemuk menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada galur M3, jumlah tunas menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada M9 dan persentase kerontokan daun majemuk tertinggi pada K0.Kata Kunci: TDZ, mutan, Leucaena leucocephala, kultur jaringan.The Effectiveness of TDZ (Thidiazuron) Hormone in In-Vitro Culture Multiplication on the Growth of Lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala) Mutant Tarramba Varieties Acid AdaptedABSTRACT Leucaena leucocephala is a legume group of animal feed plants that has good nutrition for livestock. Breeding forage plants is one strategy to increase feed fulfilment in quality, quantity, and continuity. The tissue culture technique is a step to obtain uniform feed plants, relatively fast time. The resulting seeds can adapt to various stresses with the treatment given to the growing media to produce superior seeds. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the TDZ hormone in animal feed plants Leucaena leucocephala using tissue culture techniques (in vitro culture). The design used in this study was RAL with 13 lines of lamtoro plant explants, namely M1-M11 (mutant+MS+1ppm TDZ), K0 (control+MS+0ppm TDZ), K1 (control+MS+1ppm TDZ), each 15 repetitions. The treatment that had a significant effect was continued with the Tukey test. The observed variables were the increase in vertical height of the plant, stem diameter, the number of compound leaves, the percentage of leaf loss, and the number of shoots. The results showed that gave the concentration of TDZ hormone 1 ppm to the growing media of Leucaena leucocephala cv. Tarramba had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the growth of the mutant. The increase in vertical height showed the best results on the M9 line; stem diameter showed the best results on the M3 line, the number of compound leaves showed the best results on the M3 line, the number of shoots showed the best results on M9 and the highest percentage of compound leaf loss on K0.Keywords: TDZ, mutant, Leucaena leucocephala, tissue cultur
Kualitas Nutrien Jerami Padi yang Difermentasi Menggunakan EM-4 dan Berbagai Level Dedak Padi
ABSTRAK Pemanfaatan jerami padi sebagai bahan pakan ternak belum optimal karena memliki beberapa faktor pembatas antara lain kandungan serat kasarnya yang tinggi khususnya lignin. Fermentasi merupakan salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam meningkatkan nilai manfaat dari jerami padi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi karakteristik nutrien jerami padi yang difermentasi menggunakan EM-4 dengan level dedak padi berbeda. Penelitian di desain menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) sederhana untuk menguiji 4 jenis perlakuan dalam 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah penambahan jerami padi sebagai starter dalam proses fermenetasi yaitu P1 (0% dedak padi), P2 (10% dedak padi), P3 (15% dedak padi), dan P4 (20% dedak padi). Parameter penelitian yang diukur adalah karakteristik kandungan nutrien jerami padi fermentasi yang terdiri atas : kadar bahan kering, bahan organik, protein kasar, serat kasar dan lemak kasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jerami padi yang difermentasi menggunakan EM-4 dengan penambahan starter berupa dedak padi level berbeda berpengaruh sangat nyata (p<0,01) terhadap karakteritik kandungan nutrien jerami (kadar bahan kering, bahan organik, protein kasar, serat kasar dan lemak kasar). Kadar bahan kering, bahan organik dan lemak kasar jerami padi yang difermentasi dengan EM-4 menggunakan starter dedak padi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kontrol (tanpa menggunakan starter dedak padi). Kandungan serat kasar dedak padi menurun seiring dengan peningkatan level dedak padi yang digunakan. Penggunaan dedak padi sebagai starter dalam proses fermentasi jerami padi menggunakan EM-4 mampu meningkatkan kualitas nutrien jerami padi sebagai pakan ternak.Kata Kunci: jerami padi, fermentasi, karakteristik nutrienNutrients Quality of Fermented Rice Straw Using EM-4 and Various Levels of Rice BranABSTRACT The high content of lignin could limiting the rice straw utilization as feed ingredient. Fermentation is one of the efforts that can optimize to increase the utilization of rice straw as feed. The aim of the study was to evaluate the nutritional characteristics of fermented rice straw using EM-4 and different levels of rice bran. The research was designed using completely randomized design (CRD) to test 4 treatments in 4 replications. The treatments used were the addition of rice bran as fermentation starter process (P1:0% rice bran, P2: 10% rice bran, P3: 15% rice bran, and P4: 20% rice bran). The research parameters measured were the characteristics of the nutrient content of fermented rice straw which consisted dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber and crude fat content. The results showed that fermented rice straw using EM-4 with the addition of a starter in the form of rice bran at different levels had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on the characteristics of the nutrient content of the straw (dry matter content, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber and fat). rough). The dry matter, organic matter and crude fat content of rice straw fermented with EM-4 using rice bran starter was higher compared to control. The crude fiber content of rice bran decreases in line the increase of the level of rice bran used.
