    Fisiologi dan Nutrisi Irisan Tomat Akibat Pengaruh Kematangan Buah dan Suhu SimpanABSTRACT. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh kematangan buah tomat dan suhu simpan terhadap cirri fisiologis dan kandungan nutrisi irisan buah tomat yaitu produksi etilen, laju respirasi, kebocoran elektrolit serta kandungan asam askorbik dan likopen. Penelitian yang menggunakan tomat cv. Revolution ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium Pascapanen Hortikultura milik School of Agronomy and Horticulture The University of Queensland, Australia. Perlakuan terdiri atas 4 tingkat kamatangan buah yaitu hijau-kuning (turning), oranye (pink), merah muda (light-red) dan merah (red) dan 3 tingkat suhu simpan yaitu suhu 0, 5 dan 100C. Buah tomat dikerat dengan alat slicing machine. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa irisan tomat dari buah hijau-kuning menunjukkan laju produksi etilen dan tingkat respirasi yang lebih tinggi, kebocoran elektrolit yang lebih rendah, kandungan asam askobik dan likopen yang lebih rendah daripada irisan tomat dari buah berwarna merah. Irisan tomat yang disimpan pada suhu 00C menghasilkan laju produksi etilen dan tingkat respirasi yang lebih rendah, kebocoran elektrolit yang lebih rendah, kandungan asam askorbik yang lebih tinggi, kandungan likopene yang lebih rendah daripada irisan tomat yang disimpan pada suhu 100C

    Soil the Salinization with Some Use Ameliorance and Washing to Rehabilitating Land Affected by Water and Sediment Mud of Sea Effect of TsunamiABSTRACT. The aim of the research is to find ameliorant and the amount water use to leach the salt from the soil. The research was conducted with (1) to analyzed the soil sample, water that used for leach, and leached from leaching soil and (2) to set up and pot experiment by using maize as plant indicator. The plant is fertilized by adding urea, SP 36 and KCl with normal doses. This research set up by factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors, that is 3 types of ameliorant and 5 levels of leach soil. The result data was processed with analysis of variance and then to differentiate mean among each treatment and its interaction using Duncan Multiple Range Test at level 0,05. The result of this research showed that the effect of ameliorant for soil desalinization is significantly different to electroconductivity (ECe), the content of Na+, K+, Ca++, Mg++, SO4--, and Cl- ions of the leached, and to the maize height at 15, 30, 45 days after planting, dry cob weight, dry seed weight, and 100 dry maize seed weight. While treatment of leaching of soil significantly different to pH, and the others is the same with affected by ameliorant except for the data of the plant. While the effect of interaction treatment also significantly different to pH, electroconductivity (ECe) the content of Na+, K+, Ca++, Mg++, SO4--, and Cl- ions of the leached, and to the maize height at 15, 30, 45 days after planting, dry cob weight, dry seed weight, and 100 dry maize seed weight. Eventhough gypsum give a good result in this experiment but due to the difficulty to get this material it is recommended to use limestone+manure as ameliorant for desalinization of salted soil and to leach the soil can utilize P4 (4xLR) temporarily. Then in order to know the correct doses for desalinization of salted soil hence require to be done the further research use limestone+manure and combine by adding amount and frequency of irrigate leach

    Perbedaan Varietas Tentang Karakter Daun Bendera Hubungannya dengan Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Padi GogoABSTRAK. Penelitian sebelumnya telah mengungkapkan bahwa daun bendera padi gogo pada kondisi naungan berkorelasi positif dengan hasil. Namun hubungan antara daun bendera dan pertumbuhan serta hasil pada berbagai genotipe padi gogo pada kondisi tanpa naungan masih perlu diteliti lebih lanjut. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi perbedaan avrietas dari karakter daun bendera berbagai genotipe padi gogo yang berhubungan dengan pertumbuhan dan hasil serta menghitung korelasi antara karakter daun bendera dan kompoenen pertumbuhan maupun hasil yang nantinya digunakan sebagai indikator seleksi hasil tinggi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sukoharjo, Tanggamus mulai awal oktober 2002 sampai dengan akhir Maret 2003 dengan menggunakan 18 genotipe padi gogo. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa TB 165-TB-6 mempunyai luas daun bendera dan ukuran biji tertinggi, yaitu berturut-turut 53,1 cm-2 dan 34,3 g/1000 butir. Sebailknya, genotipe dodokan mempunyai luas daun kecil, yaitu 25,8 cm2 dan menunjukkan ukuran biji yang kecil, yaitu 25,7 g/1000 butir. Kondisi ini secara tidak langsung menunjukkan bahwa luas daun bendera berkorelasi positif dengan ukuran biji, yaitu r= 0,31**. Luas daun bendera juga menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan bobot kering batang yaitu r=0,23**. Hal ini berarti bahwa daun bendera mempunyai peran yang penting untuk mengalokasikan fotosintat ke bagian biji. Oleh karena itu, perbedaan varietas untuk daun bendera akan bermanfaat digunakan sebagai indikator seleksi ukuran biji pada padi gogo

    Some of Changes Ultisol Chemical Properties Caused Kinds of Bokasi Application on Maize GrowthABSTRACT. The main problem on ultisol was low of soil nutrient containt, that was caused of Ultisol chemical properties less. The research aim to study the effect kinds of organic matter as bokasi from to improved Ultisol chemical properties. The research was used Factorial Randomized Block Design, there were kinds of bokasi and fertilizer dosages. Kinds of bokasi were sawdust bokasi, rice straw bokasi and stem of soil palm bokasi. Applied fertilizer dosages were 10, 15, and 20 ton ha-1. There were 9 treatment combination with 3 replications, so that there were 27 experimental unit and the research consist of 2 experiment series. The first series was analysis of chemical properties and the second series was applied in maize growth observation. The research result show that was kinds of bokasi giving the effect to Ultisol chemical properties. Using of rice straw bokasi were giving the highest effect and then sawdust bokasi and the less one was stem of soil palm bokasi. Difference dosage treatment was giving the significant effect to ultisol chemical properties. Using of 20 ton ha-1 was giving the highest effect of Ultisol chemical properties. Kinds of bokasi was giving the significant effect to plant height, dry weight of up plant. Interaction between kinds of bokasi and dosages treatment were not giving the significant effect to all observation because the observation was short time

    Change of Some Phisycial and Chemical Properties of Peat Soil of Jambo Aye- Aceh Utara and due to Depths of Dranage TreatmentABSTRACT. The objective of this research was to evaluate the change of physical and chemical properties of peat soil of Jambo Aye Aceh Utara due to the depth of drainage treatments. The research was set according to randomized completely design with three replication. Pipes of alluminium with length of 100 cm and diameter of 30 cm was used to set the depth of drainage treatments. The depth of drainage treatments were: no-drainage, 20 cm, 40 cm, and 60 cm. The results showed the dept of drainage on peat soil affected some of physical and chemical properties of peat soil. From the physical properties point of view, the deeper of drainage was conducted, the more subsidence occurred, otherwise the higher bulk density was occurred. From the chemical properties point of view, the drainage more than 20 cm decreased pH, N-total, P-available, K-exchangeable, and Base Saturated, otherwise increased C-organic, Cation Exchangeable Capacity, and Al-exchangeable. It was recommended to use the drainage depth of 20 cm for controlling the change of some physical and chemical properties of peat soil

    Teknik Penambahan Isotop 15N untuk Menghitung Fiksasi Nitrogen secara Biologi pada Sistem Agroforestri Cacao di Sulawesi Tengah IndonesiaABSTRAK. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada system agroforestri cacao berumur 8 tahun di Sulawesi Tengah untuk menduga proporsi N2 yang dijerap langsung dari atmosfir (%Ndfa) oleh Gliricidia sepium (Jacg.) Walp. Teknik penambahan isotope 15N dilakukan dengan menggunakan Theobroma cacao and Coffea arabica sebagai tanaman pembanding (reference). Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 5 ulangan. Rata-rata atom% 15N di dalam tanah dipengaruhi oleh kedalaman dan waktu pengamatan (P0.001). Pemberian pupuk 15N secara terpisah dan injeksi pada kedalam yang berbeda meningkatkan 15N yang terdeteksi di dalam tanah dan didalam tanaman. Rata-rata dugaan %Ndfa tanaman Gliricidia menggunakan atom% 15N yang terdeteksi di daun adalah 57.34.2 (rentang dari 44.9 hingga 68.7%) and 52.85.7% (38.5 67.7%), dengan cacao dan kopi sebagai reference. Tidak terdapat pengaruh yang nyata antara waktu dan saat pengamatan pada pendugaan %Ndfa antara kedua reference. Cacao menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik sebagai reference dibandingkan kopi dalam menduga %Ndfa Gliricidia pada sistem agroforestri yang diteliti

    Effects of Watering Temperature on Seedling Growth of Chili (Capsicum annum L.)ABSTRACT. Researches of temperature effect on plant have yet to provide obvious results of how leaf temperature and media temperature differs plant growth. The research of objectives are to study effects of water temperature irrigated to media and water temperature sprayed to the leaves on chili seedling growth. Completely randomized block design was used in the research. The factor studied were water temperature for watering media and water temperature for spraying seedling leaves. The result showed that water temperature for spraying seedling leaves significantly affected all variables observed, including seedling height, seedling diameter, leaf size, wet weight of seedling, wet weight of the roots, dried weigh of seedling, and dried weigh of the roots. Water temperature for watering media did not significantly affect all variables observed. There were significant interactions between water temperature for watering media and water temperature for spraying seedling leaves on seedling diameter and leaf size. Water temperature of 120C for watering media in combination with normal water temperature for spraying seedling leaves was the best treatment combination, while water temperature of 120C for watering media in combination with 120C water temperature for spraying seedling leaves was the worst treatment

    Effect of Germination Medium From Sands of Tsunami and Deep Planting on the Vigor of Sweet Corn (Zea mays saccharata STURT.) Variety Manise-1ABSTRACT. The research was conducted in Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty Syiah Kuala University from February until June 2005. The purpose of this research is to explain the effect of germination medium from sands of tsunami, deep planting and interaction between these factor on the vigor of sweet corn seed var. Manise-I. Factorial type of Completely Randomized Design with three replications was used in the experiment. The factor germination medium consist at three levels; river sand, sands of tsunami sand, washed tsunami sand; whereas deep planting factor consist of 2, 3, and 4 cm. The research result show that germination medium from sands of tsunami had high significant different on all parameters which consist of growth potential, germination ability, growth velocity, growth sincronization, and seedling vigor. Deep planting had high significant different on the all of parameters. There were no significant different on interaction between germination medium and deep planting on all of observed parameters
