    (The Pedological Features of Paddy Soils from a Toposequence on Volcanic Parent Materials in the Bogor Jakarta Area)ABSTRACT. The pedological feature of paddy soils are different from the non paddy cultivated. The aim of the research were: to study the pedofeatures of paddy soils in a toposequence on volcanic materials in the Bogor Jakarta area; to study the influence of paddy cultivated intensity of pedofeatures. Twelve pedons of different altitude (90 650 m above see level) and different paddy cultivated intensity (0/year, 1/year, 2/year) were investigated, each horizons were sampled for laboratory analysis to study the pedofeatures. The result of the research showed that on non paddy cultivated, pedofeature observed at B horizon is indicating rock weathering. On 1x paddy, at tillage layer nodules and hypocoating were found. On 2x paddy, at plow plan layer clay infilling dense complete was found

    Seed Viability and Form of Seedling Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) Condition Based on Moisture Media Planting and Deep SeededABSTRACT. Plant that have a high productivity has always started with the best planting material, both in the form of seeds or seedling. Agronomic inputs would be more optimal if the plants have optimum vigor. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of water on medium condition of seedlings and planting depth on seed viability and vigor of seedling of cacao. The result showed that the germination medium water conditions have no significant on all variables observed. While the depth of planting the seed in cultivation media has a very significant effect on potential germination, seedling vigor and dry weight, but no significant effect on height and weight of epicotyls weight wet. The best variables values found in the seeds are planted as deep as 4 cm from the surface of growing media. Besides seed viability and vigor of seedling planted at a depth indicated that different is not severely affected by the condition of water at planting media

    Effect of Cutting and Forms Rootone F on the Growth of the Roses (Rosa sp)ABSTRACT. This study aims to determine the effect of cutting and way of giving proper rootone F and the presence or absence of interaction between the two factors under study on the growth of cutting roses. The research was conducted in the Village of Blang Cut, District Leung Bata, Banda Aceh, the ongoing since August October 2006. This research used randomized block design factorial pattern of 3x4 with 3 replications. There are two factors studied were the first factor is the cutting material (S) which consists of 3 levels: the base of cutting (S1), cutting the middle (S2) and cutting the tip (S3), the second factor is the form rootone F consists of 4 levels: Control (R0), from a paste (R1), the form of flour (R2) and forms a solution of (R3). Observed in this study is to shoot length, number of shoot, number of compound leaves per shoot, number of root and root length. The result showed that the materials have strong cuttings of shoot number of age 60 days after transplanting (DAT), the number of compound leaves per shoot, number of roots and root length HST age 80, the best result encountered in cutting edge treatment material (S3) Treatment rootone F shows that the effect is very significant effect on the number of shoots age 60 DAT, the number of compound leaves, number of root and root length HST age 80, the best result encountered in the treatment of flour (R2). There is significant interaction on the number of compound leaves per shoot, root length and number of root age 80 DAT, the best interaction was obtained at S3R2 combination treatment

    Growth and Cucumber Yield of Three Different Varieties on Selected Hydroponic MediumABSTRACT. The subjective of this study were to investigate several varieties and medium on the growth and the yield of cucumber. The research was conducted at the screen house Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University Darussalam Banda Aceh from August to December 2008. Randomized completely block design with two factors was used on this experiment using three replications. The first factor was medium for hydroponic (i.e. sand, rice chaff charcoal, and sawdust), and the second factor was cucumber variety (i.e. Dinasty, Baby, and Venus). Each of unit experiment used 2 plants, and meaning that we used 54 plants for this experiment. The result showed that he medium significantly influenced the cucumber weight per plant, influenced the stem diameter on 45 days after planting (DAP), but not for other parameters (i.e. the plant height on 15, 30 and 45 DAP ; the stem diameters on 15 and 30 DAP ; the fruit length ; the fruit diameter and the amount of fruit per plant). The variety significantly influenced the fruit length and the cucumber weight per plant, however the variety not significantly influenced other parameters (i.e. the plant height on 15, 30, and 45 DAP; the stem diameter on 15, 30, and 45 DAP; the amount of fruit per plant; and the fruit diameter). We found that the interaction between the medium and the variety occurred on the cucumber weight per plant

    Indigenous Knowledge Study of Euphorbiaceae as a Medicinal Plant by Acehness PeopleABSTRACT. A research about study of indigenous knowledge of euphorbiaceae as medicinal plant by Acehness people was done on June until October 2007. The research was carried on 9 district of Banda Aceh city which aimed to get the knowledge from acehness people about medicinal effect of euphorbiaceae plant such as: Euphorbia pulcherrima, Euphorbia hirta, Phyllanthus urinaria, Ricinus communis, Aleurites molucccana, Manihot esculenta, Jatrophe curcas, Codiaeum variegatum, dan Hevea brasilensis. The method used was PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) which purposive sampling for respondences: keuchik, tuha peut, dan tabib on every villages. The parameters of this research was: the kinds of disease, organ of plant used, mixing way of medicine, and how to use. The result showed that from 455 respondents, all of them, have the indigenous knowledge about Jatropha curcas as medicinal plant. Contrary of Euphorbia pulcherrima, Manihot esculenta, Codiaeum variegatum, and Hevea brasilensis are unknown as medicinal plant. Phyllanthus urinaria is the most species used, because can heal 10 disease

    Inoculation of Mycorrhiza Arbuscular Fungi and Fertilization of Phosphorus on Dry Land Rice (Oryza sativa L.)ABSTRACT. The experiment was conducted in Banda Aceh since May to July 2007. The objective of study were to study the effect of mycorrhiza arbuscular fungi and phosphorus fertilization dosage on yield of dry land rice. The study was arranged in factorial randomized completely block design with two factorial. The first factor is inoculation of mycorrhiza arbuscular, fungi, namely: without inoculation (Io), inoculation with Entrophospora sp. (I1), and Inoculation with Acaulospora sp. (I2). The second factor is fertilization of phosphorus, namely: 0 g.pot-1 (Po), 3,75 g.pot-1 (P1), 7,50 g.pot-1 (P2), 11,25 g.pot-1 (P3). The result showed that inoculation of mycorrhiza arbuscular fungi increased fresh and dry weight of root, fresh and dry weight of shoot, number of tiller, 100 seed weight, number of tassel. The best treatment was found on inoculation of Entrospora sp. and fertilization of 11,25 g.pot-1

    In Vitro Propagation of Pogostemon Cablin BenthABSTRACT. The objective of this experiment was to obtain suitable medium for rapid multiplication of Pogotemon cablin Benth using tissue culture method. The research was conducted from January to June 2008 at the Tissue Culture Lab of Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Banda Aceh. Leaves, petioles, and stems of Clone Tapak Tuan was used on this experiment as explants material, and induced them in the four kinds modified MS medium. The result showed that the modified MS media M1 was the suitable media for rapid adventitious shoot multiplication of Pogostemon cablin Benth clone Tapak Tuan. Adventitious shoot be regenerated from the petiole and the stems of plantlet Pogostemon cablin Benth. The average adventitious shoots generate from petiole and stems on Media M1 were 5.33 and 6 consecutively

    Some Ways Application and Level EM-4 Concentration on Growth Seed Cacao (Theobroma cacao L.)ABSTRACT. Crop productivity is strongly influenced from the seed which will produce plants vigor and healthy. Efforts to get a healthy cacao seedling and various treatments which required strong support in creating an optimal environment to grow. One of these efforts is to use the potential of soil microorganisms endemic in growing media through the application of bio-activator (microorganisms) of land. This study aims to determine how and concentration of appropriate gifts in order to obtain good growth of cocoa seedlings and to determine whether there is linkage between these two factors tested. The design used was randomized block design with factorial pattern. 3x3 and 3 replications, so there are 27 units experiment. There are two factors studied, namely the factor for granting the solution of EM-4 (C) consist of 3 levels, and concentration factor of EM-4 (K) consisting of 3 levels. The result showed that the influence of the method of solution of EM-4 is only significant effect on high-added cocoa seedling age of 60 and 70 DAT. The way of EM-4 is best through the soil only. While on the other variables had no significant effect. While the EM-4 solution concentration significantly affected the height increment of seedling of cocoa age of 70 DAT. The best concentration of EM-4 was 5 ml/l of water. In addition to higher seed, the concentration tested did not significantly effect other variables. There was no significant interaction between the route of administration with a concentration of EM-4 for all variables observed the growth of cocoa seedling

    Effect of Growing Media and Sprinkling Frequency on Growth and Yield of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in Verticulture SystemAbstract. This study aims to determine the influence of growing media and watering frequency on growth and yield of lettuce using verticulture system and the interaction between the two factors. The design used was randomized block design (RBD) with factorial pattern. 4x3 and 3 replications, so there were 36 experimental units. There are two factors studied, namely factor planting medium (M) consist of four level, and watering frequency factor (P) consisting of three levels. The result showed that the effect of growing media and watering frequency on lettuce plant significantly to the growth and yield of lettuce plant, including plant height, length, width, and number of strands of lettuce of the age of 10, 20, 30 days after planting (DAP) and wet weight age 30 DAP. The best planting medium found in the soil planting medium. While the best watering frequency found 1 day 2 times. There was no significant interaction between the growing media and watering frequency on all growth variables and lettuce plants were observed

    Fertilization Residual Effect Growth on Organic and Inorganic for Lettuce Plant (Lactuca sativa L.) With Used in Tsunami SoilABSTRACT. Remediation of former tsunamis can be made with organic and inorganic fertilizer. Efforts to improve tsunami land using organic ingredients, to create a land that is good for plant growth is by maintaining a balanced plant nutrient availability. This can be done by the way of inorganic fertilizer. Most needed nutrients plants in large numbers and balanced is the elements nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) how far the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth of lettuce and elemental content of NPK in soil and plant remains problems that need to be tested. The experimental design used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) 4 x 2 factorial with three replications. There were two factors studied, namely manure doses (K) and NPK fertilizer doses Pearl (M). Increased plant growth and nutrient content of lettuce N, P, and K in soil and plants due to organic and inorganic fertilizer application is highly dependent on the those administered. Fertilizer combinations that produce the best growth of lettuce plant was obtained in combination with organic fertilizer 30 ton ha-1 with the addition of inorganic NPK fertilizer 1000 kg ha-1, particularly in the first planting, and has decreased in the second planting. Residues of organic and inorganic fertilizer application also affected growth and nutrient uptake, but the effect is lower than the effect at the beginning of giving fertilizer
