Enhancing Failure Propagation Analysis in Cloud Computing Systems
In order to plan for failure recovery, the designers of cloud systems need to understand how their system can potentially fail. Unfortunately, analyzing the failure behavior of such systems can be very difficult and time-consuming, due to the large volume of events, non-determinism, and reuse of third-party components. To address these issues, we propose a novel approach that joins fault injection with anomaly detection to identify the symptoms of failures. We evaluated the proposed approach in the context of the OpenStack cloud computing platform. We show that our model can significantly improve the accuracy of failure analysis in terms of false positives and negatives, with a low computational cost
Use of Modelling Simulation to Monitor the Performance of a Pediatric Emergency Department
Hospitals are complex systems in which different departments interact with each other. Systemic analytical models use systematic representations to facilitate the understanding of a complex process. The models are simulated with an imitation of the operations of a system and its internal processes, usually over time, and in appropriate detail. Simulation is used to study the performance of new systems as well as predict the effect of changes. Since Emergency Departments (ED) are unpredictable and frontline of healthcare service delivery, their detailed description and analysis are highly needed in order to design improvement actions. In this study, we will present the simulation of the ED a pediatric hospital which admits more than 100 k/year patients. The simulation tool is SIMI

Mronj incidence after multiple teeth extractions in patients taking oral bisphosphonates without “drug holiday”: A retrospective chart review(Review)
Introduction. The present retrospective chart review registered Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) occurrence after multiple adjacent teeth extractions in patients taking oral bisphosphonates (BPs) for osteoporosis for at least 3 years without “drug holiday”. Methods. Data from subjects ≥ 50 years old, requiring ≥ 2 tooth extractions of adjacent teeth, treated with oral BPs for osteoporosis for at least 3 years, who underwent multiple adjacent teeth extractions with a 12 months follow-up, at the Complex Operating Unit of Odontostomatology, Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona, Salerno, Italy, were included in the study. Tooth extractions were planned in case of residual roots, destroying tooth decays, dental fractures and severe endodontic and periodontal infections. No oral BPs suspension was considered. Surgeries were performed by a single expert operator as a part of the standard clinical procedure. Follow-up consisted of weekly controls for the first month after extractions and monthly recalls for the next 11 months. Results. Data from 58 patients charts accounting for 123 teeth extractions were included in the survey. No MRONJ development was registered. Discussion and conclusions. Besides the positive observation, higher evidence level studies should be conducted on wider samples to better estimate MRONJ risk in osteoporotic patients assuming oral BPs without drug holiday and undergoing teeth extractions. © 2019, CIC Edizioni Internazionali s.r.l.. - Building the Future of Commons Through History
The information society is a term that underlines the centrality of information in today's society, where a new economy is also emerging, in which the economic value of knowledge is recognized as a strategic resource. The products are primarily electronic resources (programs, texts, web pages, data archives, library catalogs, films, documentaries) made available through computer technology. In such a society can we say that for the commons it is easy to access information? Are there any tools and guarantees put in place by the public authorities to facilitate information flows between those involved? What innovations have been applied to the sector to distribute information faster and cheaper? Those who manage the commons need to acquire and process information on their historical evolution. Without this base the realization of a balanced economic management, the planning of the territory and the exercise of the rights due are precluded. Management, protection, enhancement require the preliminary formulation of projects, programs and plans for which information and knowledge of their history are unavoidable tools. On the other hand, deficiencies and information gaps are found everywhere, even on their current situation and on their past. The historical dimension that is important and unavoidable is missing and should be the basis from which to start planning and integrated management of rural and environmental heritage. The critical issues in the management of environmental policies can be resolved through the interface between science, society and policy makers. It is necessary to overcome sectoral logics and to create integration between research and political activity on the territory. At the Conference in Lima I would like to present a project under definition in Italy that makes the results of present and past researches usable and easily understandable, translating them into tools for policy makers and inhabitants. The multimedia tools will be showed. Three interconnected products are expected: 1. Unique catalog of Italian collective domains; 2. Maps. The catalog must be flanked by topographical maps that give account of the dynamic physiognomy in their Historical dynamics; 3. Database organized for individual municipalities that, like the other products, can be consulted online. Through these tools it is possible to expand the use of new or already acquired knowledge in order to combine the principles of protection of the environment with those of development and competitiveness. Only in this way is it possible to draw the future and identify existing priorities
B-cell central nervous system lymphoma developing in a patient with cerebral meningioangiomatosis
Meningioangiomatosis is a rare congenital hamartomatous malformation of the leptomeninges that can also involve the adjacent cerebral tissue, sometime arising in association with neurofibromatosis. Here we report the case of a 55-year-old man with neuroradiological evidence of meningioangiomatosis, known to be a well-defined malformative-dysplastic lesion, preceding the onset of central nervous system B-cell lymphoma. We describe for the first time this unusual association, highlighting how meningioangiomatosis could accompany different pathologies more frequently than thought
