Fragile watermarking tamper detection via bilinear fuzzy relation equations
We present a fragile color image watermarking based on the greatest solution of a bilinear fuzzy relation equation. The original image is coded with fuzzy transforms and divided in sub-images of sizes 2 × 2 called blocks. The watermark is applied on these blocks. A pre-processing phase is used to determine the best compression rate for the coding process. We test this scheme in tamper detection analysis on a sample of color images having different sizes. The results show that the proposed algorithm is better than that one obtained by using our previous method. Furthermore comparisons with various block-based fragile watermarking methods are made in our tests

In-vitro corrosion of AZ31 magnesium alloys by using a polydopamine coating
Magnesium alloys are candidates to be used as biodegradable biomaterials for producing medical device. Their
use is restricted due to the high degradation rate in physiological media. To contribute to solving this problem, a
polydopamine (PDOPA) layer could be used to increase adhesion between the metallic substrate and external
organic coating. In this paper, the corrosion behaviour of samples was investigated to determine their performance
during the long-term exposure in simulated body fluid. Electrochemical methods including Open Circuit
Potential (OCP) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) were used to investigate the corrosion resistance
of samples. The results demonstrated a decreasing of the substrate degradation rate when PDOPA was
used as interlayer supposing a synergistic effect when it was used together with the organic coating
CiliaCarta: An integrated and validated compendium of ciliary genes
The cilium is an essential organelle at the surface of mammalian cells whose dysfunction causes a wide range of genetic diseases collectively called ciliopathies. The current rate at which new ciliopathy genes are identified suggests that many ciliary components remain undiscovered. We generated and rigorously analyzed genomic, proteomic, transcriptomic and evolutionary data and systematically integrated these using Bayesian statistics into a predictive score for ciliary function. This resulted in 285 candidate ciliary genes. We generated independent experimental evidence of ciliary associations for 24 out of 36 analyzed candidate proteins using multiple cell and animal model systems (mouse, zebrafish and nematode) and techniques. For example, we show that OSCP1, which has previously been implicated in two distinct non-ciliary processes, causes ciliogenic and ciliopathy-associated tissue phenotypes when depleted in zebrafish. The candidate list forms the basis of CiliaCarta, a comprehensive ciliary compendium covering 956 genes. The resource can be used to objectively prioritize candidate genes in whole exome or genome sequencing of ciliopathy patients and can be accessed at http://bioinformatics.bio.uu.nl/john/syscilia/ciliacarta/
Transfobia e pressione sociale
Hexagrid-Voronoi transition in structural patterns for tall buildings
In this paper, a first insight into the role that non-conventional structural patterns might play in the design of tall buildings is presented. The idea is to explore the mechanical properties of selected non-conventional structural patterns, in the form of both regular (Hexagrid) and irregular (Voronoi tessellation inspired) arrays, in order to assess their actual applicability in tall building design. For this aim, the concept of Representative Volume Element (RVE) and a classical homogenization-based micromechanical approach are employed for identifying the pattern units and deriving the relevant generalized stress-strain relationships. In the case of irregular patterns based on Voronoi diagrams, obtained by perturbing prescribed key geometrical features of hexagrids, a statistically significant sample of RVEs is defined on the basis of sensitivity analyses, and the related mechanical characterization is developed in statistical terms. Finally, a preliminary stiffness-based design procedure is proposed and applied to a tall building model with Voronoi exoskeleton. In conclusion, a discussion on the effectiveness of the design procedure and on the structural efficiency of the Voronoi patterns for tall buildings is presented
