Collaborative logistics and eco-efficiency indicators: an analysis of soy and fertilizer transportation in the ports of Santos and Paranaguá

    Get PDF
The present study aims to investigate the use of collaborative logistics between soybean export and fertilizer import operations in the main logistical corridors in the state of Mato Grosso to the ports of Santos and Paranaguá, aiming to identify, analyze and propose an indicator of eco-efficiency that seeks to reduce the financial and environmental impacts of this practice. For that, two scenarios were analyzed, namely: base and ideal. In the ideal scenario, the entire imported fertilizer load participates in collaborative logistics. The base scenario was defined by applying a questionnaire to 96 drivers working in the ports of Santos and Paranaguá, thus identifying the incidence of trucks that return loaded from the port areas with fertilizers. Comparing the base scenario with the ideal scenario, the potential impact regarding the costs of road transport of fertilizers is around R14,696,509.89intheportofSantosandR 14,696,509.89 in the port of Santos and R 11,806,055.10 in Paranaguá, totaling R$ 26,502,564.99. In the ideal scenario, there was a reduction in CO2 emission during 2018 in the order of 29.48 kg CO2 per ton transported in the port of Santos, with the reduction obtained in Paranaguá was 14.38 kg CO2 per ton

The study presents economic substantiation of applying environmentally friendly plant growth stimulators in combination with biological fungicides in sunflower production under conditions of the South of Ukraine. The field research was conducted at Kherson State Agricultural University (Ukraine) in 2017 – 2019 under conditions of dark chestnut alkaline soils with the humus content of 2.5% in the plough layer.  The results of the three-year field research prove that the net profit reached the absolute maximum in the variant of the hybrid LG 5580 under conditions of applying the bio-fungicide Fitotsyd-r with the stimulator Ahrostymulin at the stage of budding and amounted to 1081/ha.Inthiscasethecostpricewastheleast1081/ha. In this case the cost price was the least – 141.6/ha, and the profitability level was the highest – 196%. In the areas sown with the hybrid Tunca the variant with the combination of Fitotsyd-r and the growth stimulator Ahrostymulin also provided a positive result, but it yielded a little to the combination of the preparations Fitosporyn / Ahrostymulin: the net profit was 579.7/ha,thepricecostmade579.7/ha, the price cost made 203.4/ha and the profitability was 106 %.On the whole this analysis makes it possible to maintain that additional costs related to purchasing and applying fertlizers are totally compensated owing to the cost of an increase in the yield

Intelligent smart farming and crop visualization

    Get PDF
Agriculture is a backbone of the economy for any country. Being a part of primary sector, all the other major sectors and industries depend on it for their raw materials. It satisfies the basic needs of human like food, clothing and shelter. However, due to climate change and other related problems, it is becoming increasingly difficult for farmers to keep pace with rising demands. As per estimate by Food and Agricultural Organization of United Nations, around 55 percent of India’s total land area is used for agricultural produce. India is also a leading producer and exporter of some of the major crops. Still there are concerns regarding food security in India by United Nations. For overcoming the natural hurdles, involvement of technology is required for better analysis and decision-making. Through this paper, we plan to propose a visualization technique, which can help farmers to make better decision regarding crop selection. The study proposes a novel framework where farmers can get detailed information about the crops grown in any particular district and also area, production and productivity of any particular crop. This web-based agri solution will help farmers to take smart farming decision by resource optimization and smart planning

Utilization of grey madm methodology in technology attractiveness assessment: a case study in upstream industry

    Get PDF
Technology assessment help managers to accomplish an overall evaluation of technologic options and to identify investment priorities. Making such priority has become of great importance owing to ever-increasing costs of technological research and development and resource scarcity. Technology Attractiveness Assessment, as a primary step of Technology assessment process, has been considered in this paper. Based on the multi-criteria decision-making approach and because of the inherent uncertainty in the preference information on attributes, a Grey-MADM based methodology has been utilized in this paper to assess the technology attractiveness and rank the upstream industry technological options. Its application to a real case problem has been described step by step. The results of the case study showed that "Nano Coating for Drilling Tools", "Petroleum Systems Model Building" and "Integrated Asset Modelling" are the most attractive upstream technologies

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence principals’ relationship management (RM) on the organizational commitment (OC) of secondary school teachers in county governments in Kenya as moderated by teachers’ self-efficacy. This study hypothesized that principals’ RM has no significant relationship on the teachers’ OC. Survey research design was employed to establish the relationship between principals’ RM and teachers’ OC. Simple random sampling was used to draw a sample of 120 principals and 480 teachers from Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, and Kiambu counties in Kenya. The method of data collection was through the use of questionnaires. This study established that principals’ RM was a significant predictor of teachers’ OC. The study also established that teachers’ self-efficacy moderated the relationship between principals’ RM and teachers’ OC and that self-efficacy had positive influence on teachers OC. The study recommends that Teachers’ Service Commission (teachers’ employer) should put more emphasize on training of RM among principals in secondary schools in Kenya. This study makes useful contribution in the advancement of knowledge on the effects of principals’ RM on teachers’ OC in Kenya

The purpose of this research aims to explore, measure, and analyze the relationship between online convenience, online customer satisfaction, buying intention, and electronic word-of-mouth (E-WOM) of the customers via the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and three model regression. To conduct the research, the author distributed 300 surveyed questionnaires, and the author collected 285 valid respondents. The results showed that online convenience, which has seven dimensions about convenience, includes access, search, evaluation, attentiveness, transaction, possession, post-possession convenience affect online customer satisfaction. Furthermore, as a result, online customer satisfaction influences online buying intention and electronic word-of-mouth. Based on that, the research recommends the necessary solutions to improve the buying intention and encourage customers to do E-WOM. Besides, this research opens a new field for further research in Vietnam

    Get PDF
In Argentina SME turn out to be a major player in the economic and social environment, representing more than 90% of the total registered companies, and being the country's largest employer, surpassing the 60% of formal registered employees. However, a comparative analysis between the last two national censuses -2004 and 2014- shows an industrial decline with respect to large companies, highlighting a substantial deterioration in its economic growth and envisaging the need to work on their structural competitiveness. Consequently, SME require a special focus of attention in order to sustain their activity, working on competitive aspects in order to enhance employees’ performance levels, for example, by implementing simple Performance Evaluation (PE) tools that can be used to professionalize their organization and, ultimately, help to sustain their structural competitiveness. The hypothesis of this study -which was corroborated- suggests that a simple PE tool, based on Administration By Objectives (ABO) can provide with significant benefits in terms of HR management while improving Argentinean SME structural competitiveness. It was used a quali-quantitative methodology, with a qualitative predominance. The study was exploratory and descriptive, with a not experimental and transversal design
