Differences and similarities in the milk production chain: a comparative analysis with the states of Minas Gerais and Paraná
Brazilian agriculture has played a prominent role all over the world, being milk production one of the exponents of the national agribusiness. The states of Minas Gerais and Paraná are protagonists in the milk production business in the country. The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences and similarities of the milk production chain in these two states, considering the period from 2008 to 2017, in order to investigate their dynamics and their competitiveness. The methodological approach adopted in the research was of a quantitative nature, with the use of the software “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences” (SPSS), which allowed the analysis to be carried out with the statistical techniques of analysis of variance (Anova) and cluster analysis. Ward’s agglomerative method and discriminant analysis were also adopted. The state of Minas Gerais presented a superior milk production chain in comparison with Paraná in every year analyzed; however, statistically there was no significant difference in the milk production from 2009 to 2017. Paraná presented better milk productivity averages as compared to Minas Gerais; it was highly significant (1%) from 2008 to 2016 and significant (5%) in 2017. The results of the cluster analysis indicated that, due to the fact that Paraná has higher productivity indexes in relation to Minas Gerais, its limits are better in relation to Minas Gerais in the analyzed aspects. It was found that some municipalities that are considered to have high productivity in Minas Gerais do not enter this same group in Paraná. It can be said that Paraná was shown to be more efficient in the milk production chain as compared to Minas Gerais in the analyzed time period. The article indicates the need to improve the technology used in the milk production chain, so that the numbers related to productivity can be improved. In addition, it was found that it is necessary to invest in genetics and technical assistance so that milk producers in the states surveyed can become more competitive
Relationship between social media marketing practices and customer response with mediating role of brand equity dimensions: an empirical investigation
This study aims to investigate the relationship between social media marketing practices and customer response with consideration of the mediating role of brand equity dimensions through structural equation modeling in an empirical case study. Data are analyzed using structural equation modeling. The following findings are found: The results show that there is a significant relationship between social media marketing practices and customer response in the survey sample. Additionally, the hypothesis about the mediating role of brand equity dimensions is also supported. The results of our research augment our understanding of the role of social media marketing practices in stimulating customer response (electronic word-of-mouth and commitment) and the role of brand equity dimensions (brand awareness and brand image)
Institutionalization in service providing companies: analysis in recruitment and selection consultancies (R&S)
Research supported by institutional theory contributes to organizational studies because they insert variables such as shared values, search for legitimacy, and isomorphism in the analysis of relationships between organizations and between organizations and the environment. In this context, this article aims to analyze the stages of institutionalization in consulting companies providing services in the recruitment and selection of people (R&S). A qualitative-descriptive study was performed with six recruitment and selection consultancies located in Sergipe. The results demonstrated the administrative functioning of organizations about the stages of institutionalization, revealing an institutional scenario for these service providers, besides highlighting the main obstacles to the sedimentation of the companies analyzed
Improving transfer pricing in Ukraine using American Experience
The purpose of the present research is to determine the characteristics of transfer pricing and proposals for its improvement, identifying key factors applying transfer pricing and the development of organizational and economic measures for the implementation of the mechanism of transfer pricing in Ukrainian enterprises based on US experience. Due to significant growth of the number of multinationals since 1950, and expanding the geographical environment of their activities caused the increase in the number of studies on transfer pricing. Strengthening external instability greatly affected the formation and increased use of transfer pricing, as well as the use of market prices for the companies is risky. The research is based on the requirements of the fundamental documents of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and by the United Nations Tax Committee (UN), International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as on empirical data obtained in the process of analysis of reporting of Ukrainian companies
Influence of agrometeorological component of the project environment on the duration of works in chemical protection projects of agricultural crops
The analysis of the state of science and practice of making managerial decisions in agricultural production projects is performed. The expediency of substantiation of the influence of the agrometeorological component of the project environment on the duration of works in the projects of chemical protection of agricultural crops is substantiated. The approach to the definition of fund of works time performance in projects of chemical protection of crops taking into account changing events of an agrometeorological component of the project environment is offered. It is based on the use of statistical data of agrometeorological stations in the regions where these projects are implemented. The peculiarity of this approach is that it provides for the formation of databases and knowledge for planning work in projects of chemical protection of agricultural crops based on the characteristics of a given project environment. To do this, computer simulation is used, which provides a systematic consideration of many variable agrometeorological components of the design environment and their impact on the limitation of the time allocated for work. This improves the quality of the database for forecasting the events of the components of the project environment, as well as gaining knowledge that underlies the acceleration of management decisions in projects of chemical protection of crops. It is established that the duration of agrometeorological determined daily fund of time for work in projects of chemical protection of agricultural crops is variable both during the life cycle of the project and in certain periods of its implementation, which is reflected by the relevant distribution laws. Further research on the planning of chemical protection projects for agricultural crops should be conducted to justify new methods and models of management decisions that will take into account the impact of changing events of the agrometeorological component of the project environment on the time and content of work in these projects
Understanding the consumer empowerment in health service
Health services are one of the most necessary services of the community, and these fields need to be addressed to provide the best health services for the community. This research aimed to analyze the influence of social, demographic, and economic characteristics toward empowered consumers on health services. This research used a cross-sectional design through a survey of 100 people and direct interviews. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The result showed that 46-67 years old male respondents, who were highly educated (>12 years), and have a job with >360 815 IDR incomes per month were the most empowered group of respondents than others. Regression analyses revealed that a high length of education and high income would increase the value of the consumers’ empowerment index
A systematic review on education 4.0 using social media platform
Education plays a pivotal role in acquiring knowledge and developing skills. The knowledge acquired and skills developed helps in building better careers. This also supports our personal life by making us better informed about social, cultural and political contexts. With the popularity and ubiquitous nature of the internet, online education has become the preferred way of teaching- learning process. Technological advancements have made this possible. Learning management systems have been used for a long time, it provides better organization of content and smooth evaluations. The MOOC has taken this online pattern to a next level of quality education. However, this approach of blended learning involves less interaction as it mainly depends on asynchronous mode of learning. The use of social media tools supports in overcoming this problem and provides a platform to build highly interactive student centric online courses. Using such disruptive technology in education has been termed as Education 4.0. The level of learner engagement with the content and the tutor enhances through the use of social media learning tools. This creates a need to understand the various aspects of social media based education. The current study is an attempt to understand the trends in online education and tries to identify the factors related to usage of social media in education. further, based on factors related to social media usage, the study also identifies the themes
Expatriates’ intention to send surgical masks to their native countries during the COVID-19 pandemic
The main purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the factors that determine behavioral intention of expatiates living in Taiwan to send surgical masks to their native country following the Covid-19 outbreak. To achieve this, the study builds a research model by extending Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) with Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior (KAB) and Risk perception conceptions, incorporating Covid-19 related factors such as knowledge, fear, and risk perception and situational factors such as perceived mask scarcity. An online questionnaire was administered with 83 respondents participating. A partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis was used to evaluate the collected data. We found that no significant relationship between both Covid-19 risk perception, and fear and expatiates’ attitudes to send surgical masks back home. Results further reveal that Covid-19 knowledge is the only factor that significantly influence expatriates’ attitudes, which in turn impact their on the intention to send surgical masks to their native countries. Perceived mask scarcity found to positively moderate relationship between attitude and intention. This study contributes to the growing body of literature and research focused on the Covid-19 pandemic, and offers some implications for future research on the correlations between knowledge and scarcity in the context of the theory of reasoned action. Although the current study examines a contemporary critical issue, it presents a key example of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Risk analysis model and agricultural derivative market use: a conceptual review
This research aims to build conceptual guidelines regarding price risk management through the agricultural derivatives market. Specifically, to identify the common price risk management methods and strategies employed, the risk analysis models of derivative markets, and the barriers to agricultural risk management. This is an integrative review, the search for literature on the models of risk management analysis of agricultural derivatives started by listing the largest possible number of keywords on the topic, in the Scopus and Web of Science. Forty-five publications were found meeting the pre-established criteria that served as the basis for this research. Based on the literature review, we list the main information on the subject and we also propose a theoretical model for analyzing the market risks of agricultural derivatives. Still, it was possible to notice that among the methodologies for measuring market risk, Value at Risk (VaR) stands out. We exemplify and demonstrate the existence of several statistical analyzes and mathematical models, as well as software available for the management of price risks. It is concluded that strategies with the futures and options market, even though they are the most efficient for risk management, lack incentives to become practical
Evaluation of occupational safety conditions in a waste plastic recycling plant in Brazil
The adequacy of working conditions to safety standards has a fundamental importance in the company's environment. The efficient implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System allows the reduction of risks associated with accidents; reduce costs to the employer and a strong ally in the competitive market when the safety indicator is a decisive factor in the choice of suppliers. The aim of this study was to evaluate occupational safety and health (OSH) practices at work in a plastic recycling plant located in northeastern Brazil, as well as to identify opportunities for improvement. Data collection was carried out from on-site visits and control measures were proposed for the risk factors identified. The evaluation made it possible to identify that the recycling activity is characterized by several occupational hazards, which are aggravated by inadequate working conditions. The non-conformity of jobs, the use of obsolete equipment and the lack of specific training to perform certain functions were identified as the most relevant aspects. For these, opportunities for improvement and adequation were connected. The study results can help other companies that perform the same activities to improve their performance in OSH based on the points of improvement presented
