TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP IN INDONESIAN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS DURING THE POST-COVID ERA: A CASE STUDY OF SPIRITUAL DIMENSIONS
COVID-19 in Indonesia necessitated a shift from traditional face-to-face learning to technology-based distance learning. This transition also redefined the role of school principal who must lead change and work in new ways. This study aims to explore the new role of the principal as a technology leader and develop a technology leadership model in learning in the new normal era. Employing a qualitative approach with a single case study method, the study involved 20 participants, including 5 principals, 5 vice principals, 5 IT coordinators, and 5 subject teachers from five public junior high schools (SMP Negeri) in Surabaya, Indonesia.. The findings study show that school principal has a key role in keeping the school functioning well in the new normal era. This findings highlight the latest model of technology leadership in education by developing 5 dimensions of technology leadership from NETS-EL 2018 into 6 dimensions. The spiritual dimension makes technology leaders and teachers are more effective in leading schools during and after COVID-19. These findings specifically contribute to the development of a technology leadership framework and generally complement existing leadership theories
Utilization of Steel Aggregate and Iron Sand as Heavyweight Concrete for Gamma Radiation Shielding
This study aims to produce a homogenous and workable conventional heavyweight concrete (HWC) with similar performance as pre-placed HWC in attenuating radiation by increasing the concrete density with no risk of segregation. HWC was mixed using steel aggregate and iron sand with a specific gravity of 7.78 and 4.14, respectively. A w/c ratio of 0.5 was applied to obtain proper workability and viscosity modifying agent (VMA) was used to prevent segregation. The radiation tests were carried out using 133Ba (356 keV), 137Cs (662 keV), and 60Co (1170 keV & 1330 keV) gamma sources. The results obtained a concrete density of 5133.07 kg/m3 with no sign of segregation and a compressive strength of 18.61 MPa. Based on the radiation test, the conventional HWC was effective in reducing the shielding thickness by 50.41%. Our findings provide a workable conventional HWC with high gamma attenuation to replace an enormous dimension of normal concrete
Least-squares Smoothed Shape Functions for Constructing Field-Consistent Timoshenko Beam Elements
This paper presents an approach for constructing field-consistent Timoshenko beam elements using least-squares smoothed (LSS) shape functions. The variational basis for shear strain redistribution is thoroughly explained, leading to the derivation of LSS shape functions for linear, quadratic, and cubic Timoshenko beam elements. These elements are then applied to linear static analysis, bifurcation buckling analysis, and free vibration analysis of prismatic and tapered beams. Numerical tests demonstrate that the LSS-based beam elements effectively eliminate shear locking and provide accurate, reliable results. Their performance is comparable to the discrete shear gap technique but with a simpler implementation procedure. The LSS shape function approach offers a practical and efficient alternative for achieving field consistency in Timoshenko beam elements, with potential applications in enhanced finite element methods (FEMs) such as isogeometric FEM and Kriging-based FEM
Performance Evaluation of Simple Regular Buildings using FBD and DDBD Methods with a Consistent Target Drift
The Direct Displacement Based Design (DDBD) method, proposed by Priestley, is an alternative to the traditional Force-Based Design (FBD) method for earthquake-resistant design. This study compares the performance of 4-story and 12-story buildings designed using both FBD and DDBD with the same target drift of 2%. The differences in base shear used for the design of the two approaches are discussed. To evaluate the buildings' performance, Nonlinear Dynamic Procedure (NDP) analysis, or nonlinear time history analysis, was conducted considering 500 and 2500 years return period earthquakes. The results indicate that the actual drift of both designs deviates from the target drift; however, the observed drifts remain within the maximum limits set by FEMA 356. Moreover, plastic damages were observed in unexpected areas of the columns, suggesting that the strong-column weak-beam design concept, as stipulated by building codes, does not entirely prevent damage to columns
Supplier Selection and Order Allocation in A Pharmaceutical Wholesaler
Supplier selection is essential for any organization , as it plays a significant role in enhancing productivity. This study focuses on a local pharmaceutical wholesaler (PW) company, which places orders with other local PWs to meet its demand. Typically, pharmaceutical companies rely on multiple suppliers to satisfy their needs. However, due to an inadequate evaluation of supplier criteria, a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach has been implemented to assist the PW in selecting superior suppliers and ensuring an efficient selection process. A key issue in this case study is the lack of a structured method for assessing supplier criteria, resulting in a subjective and lengthy selection process. The criteria for supplier selection encompass quality, flexibility, price, delivery, service, and supplier profile. Furthermore, alongside supplier selection, optimizing order allocation is essential for reducing purchasing costs while maximizing supplier scores. This research proposes a model designed to aid PW in addressing both supplier selection and order allocation challenges. The MCDM framework commences with the Best Worst Method (BWM) to establish the weight of each criterion. These weights then serve as input for the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), which ranks and prioritizes suppliers based on their evaluation scores. Subsequently, the results from TOPSIS inform the determination of optimal order allocation through a Multi-Objective Optimization (MOO) method. As part of the system modeling, a sensitivity analysis was performed to explore the effects of specific parameters on the objective function and decision variables, assessing variations in inventory costs, shortage costs, and demand. The findings indicated that only the demand parameter had a significant effect on decision variables, particularly regarding inventory levels and shortages. This research offers a comprehensive solution for the PW to tackle supplier selection and optimal order allocation. By employing MCDM and multi-objective optimization strategies, the company can achieve lower purchasing costs while selecting optimal suppliers based on their evaluation scores. The optimization model presented has dual objective functions: minimizing costs and maximizing total supplier value. Consequently, the model achieved a total purchasing cost of Rp. 340,196,740 and a total supplier value of 5,265,032
CSR Website Disclosure and Company Business Performance: The Role of Corporate Reputation and Cost Leadership Strategy
Research on CSR disclosure and company business performance has shown inconsistent results. Therefore, this study aims to deepen understanding by incorporating corporate reputation as a mediating variable and cost leadership strategy as a moderating variable. This study provides empirical evidence of the mediating role of corporate reputation and the moderating role of the cost leadership strategy in the influence of CSR website disclosure on company business performance. The research sample consists of non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2022 period. Purposive sampling techniques guided the sample selection, yielding 309 firm-year observations. We obtained the research data from Datastream Revinitiv Eikon, company websites, and company annual reports. We conducted hypothesis testing using STATA 17 software. The results of the study show that the cost leadership strategy weakens the influence of CSR website disclosure on company business performance
