PARAMETER POPULASI DAN POLA MUSIM PENANGKAPAN IKAN LAYANG (Decapterus spp) DI PERAIRAN MALUKU UTARA
The scads (Decapterus spp) in North Maluku waters is highly potential and the utilization in developing phase. However, there is an indication of overexploited found in the coastal waters. The aims of this research are: (1) to determine population parameters of Decapterus macarellus based on the biological approach; and (2) to find out fishing season of the scads. The research was conducted from January to December 2008, in the North Maluku waters. Data for the research consisted of primary and secondary data. The data were analyzed using methods of the growth coefficient and the length infinity, the length-weight relationship, maturity level in fishes, estimating the size at first maturity in fishes, fecundity and moving average analyses. The results show that growth of female D. macarellus was quicker than masculine, and both had a maximum length-growth at the age of 4 year. Growth pattern of D. macarellus had a specific characteristic, called "minor alometrik", meaning that length-growth was quicker than weight-growth of the body. The catch of D. macarellus was dominated by inmature species. The most maturity of the D. macarellus was found in March. The size at first maturity was reached at a length of 25,8 cm. Spawning took place in April or May. Fecundity ranged from 28875 to 84000 eggs with a total length of 268 to 310 mm. Fishing season of scads occurred from March to October with the peak season in August
DAMPAK PEMBANGUNAN PANTAI UTARA JAKARTA TERHADAP KEGIATAN PERIKANAN : STUDI KASUS DI KECAMATAN PADEMANGAN, JAKARTA UTARA
The course of development in Jakarta Coast (Pademangan Sub-District) bears critical impact on fishery activities, i.e. degradation of coastal and marine environment. This research was conducted to identify the extent of such degradation attributed to the coastal development, particularly coastal reclamation. Data on the actual condition of Jakarta North coast were collected by conducting rapid rural appraisal (RRA), i.e., interviews with respondents (fishermen, community leader, local officials) and field survey. Hydro-oceanographic data is obtained through marine survey in collaboration with Oceanography Office of Indonesia Marine Force for a 2-week period (from July 15th until July 29th, 2004) and secondary data from LIPI (Indonesian Institute of Science) and Fishery Office and Regional Development Planning Agency of North Jakarta Municipality, sub-district as well as village administration in Pademangan. Data analysis and processing were carried out through Geographic Information System (SIG) of Information System Engineering to process, organize, store, manipulate and present spatial data for various types of applications. This study shows that the sea surface temperature, salinity, dissolved chemicals have exceeded their threshold levels and plankton and hydro-oceanographic data have significantly changed; such changes hindered fishery activities. However, several fishery activities can be maintained and improved, such as fish processing. Fishing activities can be sustained in certain areas in the bay while promoting marine environment quality that promotes marine sports/recreations
PEMODELAN KLASIFIKASI TERUMBU BERBASIS GEOMORFOLOGI DAN PEMANFAATAN SUMBERDAYA IKAN KARANG
Coral reef is one of important economical value natural resources which is grow better in tropical region. Indonesia as a tropical country consists of 17.508 islands and 70% territory covered by sea, in which the shallow waters around the islands, is a place for coral reef to grow. Since the biophysical characteristic information of coral reef is essential for regional marine planning, this research aims to study the satellite remote sensing data processing for geomorphologic analysis of small islands, volcanic, coral, and atoll, and reef landform in order to arrange a geomorphology-based reef classification model. Domination, uniformity, and variety analysis of coral fish is conducted to find out the relationship between small island, reef and coral fish habitat. From remote sensing data processing model, multispectral fusion results obtained are 245 channel combinations for volcanic islands, 257 for coral islands, 237 for atoll islands, and 124 for coral reefs. Spectral enhancement is autoclip and spatial enhancement is high pass sharpen 2. Multispatial fusion enhances small island morphology but not enhances for coral reefs. Geomorphology-based reefs classification model divides reef into oceanic reef and shelf reef. More detailed classification for oceanic reef is divided into fringing reef, barrier reef, and atoll. While shelf reef used in the study area is lagoonal platform reef. This classification, combined with ecological-based coral reef classification, is used to identify life reef, dead reef, and sand in the certain reef landform
KARAKTERISTIK DAN TIPOLOGI HAK-HAK KEPEMILIKAN DALAM PERIKANAN ARTISANAL
The objective of the research is to explain about the rules of the traditional social institution, especially characteristic and typology of property rights on artisanal fishery management system at Abang island. Traditional institution pattern commonly has function for keeping continuity of coastal resources, so management that did by local fisherman society in coastal villages feel to keep well fishery resources and ecosystem, not disturbed by capture activity for example intake of rock, bombardment of fish and usage of potassium. Study case method that using is rural rapid appraisal (RRA) for coastal community. This research was done in Abang island village Galang subdistrict Batam city, try to identify and documentating several characteristic and typology of property rights on artisanal fishery at Abang island village. Based on result of research there are 8 fishing gears that dominant used by local fisherman, and other 2 modern fishing gears. Operation of trawl that has been prohibited based on Keppres No. 39/1980, still found in territorial water of Abang island. Eight of fishing gears that operated by fisherman, had fishing ground in around of territorial coastal water, farthermost catch fish by distance 3 or 4 miles from coast line. Generally fisherman here included small scale and traditional fisherman category, meant they become fisherman hereditarily, heritage of their parents, by using simply fishing gears, but they orientated to market, most of catch fish and prawn sold to merchant and tauke, called artisanal fisherman. For appliance catch selected like line, fisherman of Abang island catch fish collectively by using fish aggregating device cooperation result among fisherman. Most of fishing gears used by fisherman in this area are trap, line, longline, setnet, gillnet, fish cage, seine and fish-net. From a number of fishing gears divided again become some types, like net consist of beach seine, apollo net (trammelnet), trawl kara ( Lobster), stromateus net, gillnet and crab net
MODEL PENGEMBANGAN AGROINDUSTRI PERIKANAN BERBASIS PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT : STUDI KASUS DAERAH CILACAP-JAWA TENGAH
Model of the development of Fishery agro industry base on the society participation addressed to increase regional economics. Criteria of development agro industry besides relied on criteria of legibility financial, but is also relied on a real circumstance is the area. Model develop builded consisted of three sub model that is pre-eminent commodity election, pre-eminent product election and election analyze the financial. Pre-Eminent commodity selected by pursuant to economic value and sum up the commodity which not yet been permeated by industry. Superlative product determined by pursuant to real circumstance is area so that only need a few/little socialization touch and innovate especially from technological facet. criteria of Legibility financial used by Net Present Value ( NPV), Pay Back Period ( PBP) And Benefit Cost Ratio ( B / C Ratio). For the area of Cilacap, alternative of development of agro industry fishery base on the society involvement fish jelly product. Strategy of operational of development of agro industry fishery base on the society participation divided into three phases, that are early stage development, phase of growth and phase of maturation agro industry
HUBUNGAN SUHU PERMUKAAN LAUT DAN KLOROFIL-A TERHADAP HASIL TANGKAPAN IKAN CAKALANG (Katsuwonus pelamis, Linne) DI PERAIRAN BAGIAN TIMUR SULAWESI TENGGARA
Sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a (chl-a) are the important oceanographic parameters determining the abundance and distribution of marine pelagic organism, include skipjack tuna. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between SST and chl-a concentration with production of skipjack tuna off eastern coast of Southeast Sulawesi. Such relationship can be used to identify potential fishing ground of skipjack tuna.SST was derived by NOAA-AVHRR 16 and the data was collected from Lembaga Antariksa dan Penerbangan Nasional (LAPAN). Chl-a was derived from TERRA-MODIS satellite and the data were obtained from Colorado Center of Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) website. Skipjack tuna production data were obtained from direct observation and pole and line fishermen reports (log book) from March to June 2004.The lowest SST occured at March, while the highest at April and May 2004. The higher SST indicated a flow of water mass from nothern area to southern area. From March to May 2004, there was no significant change in chl-a concentration. In that period, the chl-a concentration was relative low and uniformly distributed but significant spatial variation was observed in June. The optimum observed SST for skipjack fishing in the studied area ranged from 25 to 26 °C and from 31,5 to 32,5 °C ; the optimum chl-a concentration ranged from 0,38 to 0,52 mg/m3. SST did not show strong influence on the catch of skipjack tuna ; the catch of skipjack tuna more influenced by chl-a concentration. The most productive fishing ground ; i.e. the potential fishing area off estern coast of Southeast Sulawesi are between Wawonii Island and Menui Island and eastern Umbele Island/northwestern Menui Island
FORMASI VORTEX CURRENT PADA MODEL TERUMBU BUATAN
The present of an artificial reef on sea floor may lead to the creation of a vortex current or wake zone, and eddies on the downstream side of the reef. This wake zone could attract fish by providing shelter; turbulence at the edge of wake zone would attract pelagic species; and upwelled current and sediments or nutrients might also benefit certain pelagic species. However, there presently are insufficient data to suggest a universally valid relationship between habitat enhancement and the flow-reef-sediment interaction. The creation of vortex current on the sea bottom is difficult to observe, so it is usually conducted in a scaled-down experiment. This study was to determine the vortex current formation on the reef model and observed the response of fish samples at the different current velocities. A cubic reef type (12.5 cm) was placed in a water circulating tank. The measurement was made by running black colored particles; and the boundaries of downstream flow were determine by tracking the movement of each particle. Vortex current was clearly observed behind the reef model at the current velocity of about 34.75 cm/sec; and the fish tend to concentrate at the center or behind the reef model; but current weakens or vortex current disappear, fish were scattered
