Online Da’wah and Social Media Misuse: Implications for Intra-Religious Peaceful Coexistence

The article examines the implications of social media misuse by Yoruba Muslim preachers (du’āt) on intra-religious peaceful coexistence. The research aims to highlight how the irresponsible use of online platforms by these preachers has led to increased hostility and division within the Muslim community. The study emphasizes the importance of adhering to Islamic principles that promote unity, tolerance, and mutual respect when conducting da’wah (religious outreach) online. To achieve this, the researchers used a descriptive survey design to analyze the social media activities of Yoruba, Nigeria du‘āt. The study reveals that some preachers have engaged in behavior contrary to Islamic teachings, such as spreading misinformation, hate speech, and engaging in personal attacks. This misuse of social media has caused polarization, mistrust, and even led to legal actions, further harming the peaceful coexistence of the Muslim community. The paper concludes that du‘āt must practice responsible and ethical online da‘wah that aligns with Islamic values, particularly those that foster harmony and peaceful coexistence. The research calls for a return to the core principles of Islamic law to mitigate the negative effects of social media misuse

TRUST as A Pillar of Religious Moderation in Islamic Education: A Multicultural Approach to Diversity

This study explores the strategic role of Islamic education in promoting religious moderation through a multicultural approach. Responding to the increasing diversity in Indonesian society, the research seeks to answer how Islamic education integrates the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and social harmony into learning. Using a meta-synthesis method, 25 relevant journal articles published between 2020–2024 were analyzed to identify the patterns of implementation, challenges, and strategies in promoting religious moderation. The study finds that religious moderation is practiced through curriculum integration, dialogical pedagogy, and role modeling by educators. A multicultural approach—encompassing inclusive, critical, and humanistic perspectives—enhances empathy and social understanding. However, challenges such as political interference, exclusivist resistance, and pedagogical limitations remain significant. To address these, the study proposes the TRUST model (Tolerance, Respect, Understanding, Solidarity, Togetherness) as a conceptual and practical framework to reinforce harmony in Islamic educational settings. This model bridges Islamic teachings with multicultural values, offering a relevant paradigm for contemporary education. English: A Discourse Study of The "Belajar Islam Pake Logika" Podcast

    No full text
The lack of studies on logic-based da'wah strategies in digital conversation formats is an important gap in contemporary religious communication studies. This article aims to analyze how a rational approach is used in delivering Islamic messages through the YouTube podcast "Belajar Islam Pake Logika" with Felix Siauw and Raymond Chin. This study employs a qualitative approach in which descriptive procedures are used to organize the data, while Fairclough’s critical discourse study serves as the primary analytical framework. The object of study is the content of conversations in podcasts lasting more than one hour, with data in the form of complete transcripts obtained through documentation and non-intervention observation. The analysis was conducted through three stages: text analysis, discursive practices, and social practices. The findings show that logical argumentation, dialogic style, and social criticism are used as the main strategies of da'wah to build credibility and reach critical audiences. The findings indicate that rationality functions as a discursive resource that restructures how religious authority is articulated in digital media. This expands the theoretical understanding of da'wah communication by showing that meaning-making in contemporary Islamic discourse increasingly depends on dialogical reasoning rather than hierarchical textual claims.

Geopolitics of Power Shifts: Analyzing Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham's Victory Over Assad and the Humanitarian Crisis in Syria

This study examines the factors contributing to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) military success against the Bashar al-Assad regime and analyzes the subsequent humanitarian governance challenges faced by HTS-led interim authorities in Syria. Employing a qualitative methodology grounded in historical and geopolitical analysis, the research utilizes library-based data to assess: (1) HTS’s effective guerrilla warfare strategies, (2) the impact of external actor involvement (particularly Turkey’s support for HTS versus diminished Russian or Iranian backing for Assad), and (3) the socioeconomic consequences of prolonged conflict. Findings reveal that HTS’s ascendancy stems from tactical military proficiency combined with the Assad regime’s weakening under Western sanctions and reduced support from traditional allies (Russia, Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis). However, the group’s political consolidation has exacerbated Syria’s preexisting humanitarian crisis, with interim governance structures proving inadequate to address postwar displacement, infrastructure collapse, and international isolation. The study concludes by emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated international engagement to: (a) mitigate large-scale human suffering, and (b) develop conflict-sensitive governance frameworks that account for Syria’s complex geopolitical realities. These insights contribute to broader discussions on non-state actor transitions to governance and humanitarian management in contested states. REFERENCES Abdussamad, Zuchri. Kata kunci: Bashar al-Assad, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, Pemerintahan Sementara, Krisis Kemanusiaa
