    The purpose of this study was to describe the problem-solving ability of eighth-grade junior high school students in terms of cognitive style in solving two-variable linear equations. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII SMPN 1 Senduro, namely four students from each of two different types of cognitive styles. Collecting data using questionnaires, test methods, and interview methods. According to Polya, there are four steps in the problem-solving ability of students, namely understanding, planning, implementing, and re-checking. The results showed that students with a field-dependent cognitive style had difficulty in analyzing a problem because they could not apply the four Polya problem solving while the field independent type cognitive style was very able to apply the four problem-solving steps according to Polya, namely, understanding, planning, implementing, and doing recheck. &nbsp

    The aim of this qualitative research is to describe the types of student errors in solving the two-variable linear equation system story problem based on Newman's error analysis in terms of Florence Littauer's personality type. The data sources consisted of 8 students of grade IX C SMP Nuris Jember who had been taught the material of two-variable linear equation systems. The data taken were the results of the questionnaire used to group students into four categories of personality types, the results of the student's story problem solving test results, and the results of the interviews of the students who were the research subjects. The results showed that in solving the two-variable linear equation system material story problems, students sanguinis experienced reading errors, comprehensior errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and  encoding error. Melancholy and phlegmatis students experience transformation error, process skill error, and encoding error. Koleris students experienced process skill error and encoding error.     Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Jumping Task pada Materi Perbandingan Berdasarkan Gender

    This study aims to describe the critical thinking ability of male and female students in solving jumping task problems on proportion. The jumping task question used is a question with level C4 in Taksonomi Bloom. This type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used consisted of the documentation mathematics students report in the first semester, critical thinking test, and interviews. The subjects used in this study are 32 students of class VII G on SMPN 4 Jember. consists of 16 male students and 16 female students. The students are divided into three groups based on the mathematics students report in the first semester. The groups are high, medium, and low category mathematics ability. The results showed that male students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), male students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical), male students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 0 (not critical). While female students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), female students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 2 (quite critical), female students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical)

    This study aims to fully describe the learning difficulties of students with low mathematical abilities in solving arithmatic division operations based on gender. This research is a descriptive qualtative research with research subjects consisting of 1 female student and 1 male student with low math ability in class IV-A SDN Bugih 1 Pamekasan with the test instrument for the comlpetion of the division count operations aninterviews. The results showed that on thr indicators of difficulty in understanding the concept, the results of the study learning difficulities in female subject (S1) and male subject (S2) in solving the division arithmetic operation, namely the two subjects did not know the concept of division as repeated subtraction. On the indicator of difficulty in applying the principle, the two subjects were unable to do the tiered division correctly because the wo principle of division to the long division. Whereas in the indicator of difficulty in solving verbal problems, the two subjects were unable to write down what wa known and what was asked of the story problem correclty

    The purpose of this study was to determine what ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple and produce a test package related to ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple. This temple is a place of worship for the Tri Dharma people in Pasuruan City. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The subjects of this study were one religious leader and one handyman. Data collection methods used are observation and interviews. In this study focused on several objects of building and carving shapes. Mathematical concepts that emerged in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple building were geometric, congruent, similarity and geometric transformation. The product made is a test package related to ethnomatematics at the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple in Pasuruan. This test package is intended for junior high school grade VII

    Curriculum is one of the essential requirements in the administration of education system. In the academic year 2013/2014, Indonesian government through the Ministry of Education implement a new curriculum called 2013 curriculum. For the successful implementation of 2013 curriculum, the government published a student book as an effort of supporting in learning activities. Analysis on  the student book is needed for reviewing the suitability of student book by 2013 curriculum formulation. The analysis is based on four criteria consisting of competence, materials of math, learning approaches and assessment of learning. Research carried out by using the method of documentation and questionnaires. The results showed that the suitability of the student book with competence in the curriculum is 86.97% (very suitable), the materials of math is 87.27% (very suitable), the learning approaches is 87.50% (very suitable), and the suitability with the assessment of learning is 69.10% (suitable). Based on the research that has been done, the lowest number of suitability is the aspect of authentic assessment. Therefore, adding more tasks and activities that reflecting the authentic assessment  in the student book such as portfolio and practice test would be highly recommende

    This research purpose to describe the mathematical representation abilities of students based on the Krulik and Rudnick stages in terms of students' AQ. This research type is qualitative descriptive research. The research location is in  SMAN Darussholah Singojuruh with the subjects of class XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 7 as many as 30 students. The data collecting methods used test and interview methods, with research instruments, such as Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire, mathematics test questions on linear program material, interview guidelines, and validation sheets. The subjects selected as interview respondents were two students from each level of AQ who had significant differences in ARP scores (scores between AQ Climber, Camper, and Quiter), as well as based on the timeliness and accuracy of students' answers. Based on the test result data analysis and interview data analysis, the following results were obtained, such as 1) Climber students could solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages coherently, and be able to used forms of verbal representations, visual representations, and mathematical expressions properly and correctly; 2) Camper students could solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages coherently but had not been able to use forms of verbal representations, visual representations, and mathematical expressions properly and correctly; 3) Quitter students had not been able to solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages correctly and had not been able to use their verbal representation, visual representation, and mathematical expression skills properly. &nbsp

    This research aims to know the process and the result of the development of Mathematics Learning Instruments for ethnomathematics based curved space chapter with the help of the Google Form aplication as a support for online learning. This research is development research. Learning instruments development model refers to four D models. The product of this research are teaching materials, student’s worksheet, and evaluation test. This research took place at IX A of junior high school 2 Puger, Jember with consist 36 students. The data collection methods used in this research are the interview, test, and questionnaire. Based on data analysis, this research has three result. First, the learning instrument developed have valid criteria.
