    Maximising Distribution Grid Utilisation by Optimising E-Car Charging Using Smart Meter Gateway Data

    The transition towards climate neutrality will result in an increase in electrical vehicles, as well as other electric loads, leading to higher loads on electrical distribution grids. This paper presents an optimisation algorithm that enables the integration of more loads into distribution grid infrastructure using information from smart meters and/or smart meter gateways. To achieve this, a mathematical programming formulation was developed and implemented. The algorithm determines the optimal charging schedule for all electric vehicles connected to the distribution grid, taking into account various criteria to avoid violating physical grid limitations and ensuring non-discriminatory charging of all electric vehicles on the grid while also optimising grid operation. Additionally, the expandability of the infrastructure and fail-safe operation are considered through the decentralisation of all components. Various scenarios are modelled and evaluated in a simulation environment. The results demonstrate that the developed optimisation algorithm allows for higher transformer loads compared to a P(U) control approach, without causing grid overload as observed in scenarios without optimisation or P(U) control

    Kategorisierung und Bewertung plattformübergreifender Ansätze für die Auswahl eines Frameworks

    Die plattformübergreifende Entwicklung ist eine populäre Art der Anwendungsentwicklung, die in der Forschung und Industrie immer weiter an Relevanz gewinnt. Dabei wird eine Codebasis geschrieben, die auf mehreren Betriebssystemen lauffähig ist. Das Ziel dieses Ansatzes ist es unter anderem, die Zeit- und Kosteneffizienz zu optimieren. Es gibt verschiedene Ansätze der plattformübergreifenden Entwicklung. Die einzelnen Frameworks lassen sich wiederum in diese Ansätze einteilen. Durch die steigende Akzeptanz dieser Art der Entwicklung herrscht eine zu große Auswahl an Frameworks, von denen jedes eigene Stärken und Schwächen aufweist. Dies ist ein Problem, da Entwickelnde keine Übersicht und Einordnung der Frameworks für ihre individuellen Bedürfnisse haben. Um diesem Problem entgegen zu wirken, wird in dieser Arbeit ein Verfahren entwickelt, mit dem das passende Framework für die Rahmenbedingungen des jeweiligen Projekts ermittelt werden kann. Dazu werden die Frameworks Kotlin Multiplatform, Flutter, React Native und Vue.js, das zur Umsetzung einer PWA genutzt wird, für eine mobile Anwendung getestet, die auf Android und iOS Geräten laufen soll. Zusätzlich werden 44 Kriterien ermittelt, anhand derer die Frameworks bewertet werden. Mit dem resultierenden Verfahren kann sowohl eine objektive, als auch eine subjektive Auswertung der Frameworks erfolgen, um eine geeignete Auswahl zu treffen.Cross-platform development is a popular type of application development that is becoming increasingly relevant in research and industry. It involves writing a code base that can run on multiple operating systems. The goal of this approach is, among other things, to optimize time and cost efficiency. There are various approaches to cross-platform development. The individual frameworks can be divided into these approaches. Due to the increasing acceptance of this type of development, there is too much choice of frameworks, each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses. This is a problem because developers do not have an overview and taxonomy of the frameworks suitable for their individual needs. To solve this problem, a method to identify the appropriate framework for the context of the project at hand is developed in this thesis. For this purpose, the frameworks Kotlin Multiplatform, Flutter, React Native and Vue.js, which is used to implement a PWA, are tested for a mobile application that is to run on Android and iOS devices. In addition, 44 criteria are identified based on which the frameworks are evaluated. With the resulting procedure, both an objective and a subjective evaluation of the frameworks can be carried out in order to make a suitable selection

    Die Reihe „Basiswissen zur Nachhaltigkeit“ versucht zu verschiedenen Themen der Nachhaltigkeit, z.B. Klimawandel, Abfallwirtschaft, soziale Gerechtigkeit, grundlegende Fakten zusammenzustellen. Zielsetzung ist es ein Grundwissen bereitzustellen, das zum einen als Ausgangspunkt für vertiefende Analysen dient und zudem eine faktenbasierte Grundlage für die eigene Meinungsbildung sein kann. Der vorliegende Aufsatz behandelt die Problemfelder der Abfallwirtschaft in Deutschland und weltweit. Zunächst werden die grundlegenden Informationen zu den Begriffen Abfallwirtschaft, Abfallarten, Abfallentsorgung, Recycling u.a. zusammengetragen. Es folgt eine Darstellung der aktuellen Situtation der deutschen Abfallwirtschaft unter den Aspekten Deponieraum, Müllverbrennung, Recycling, Mikroplastik, Abfallexporte und nukleare Entsorgung. Den Abschluss bildet die Analyse von weltweiten Abfallproblematiken wie unzureichende Sammlung und Deponierung, Verschmutzung der Weltmeere mit Plastikabfall, Belastung der Ozeane durch die Folgen der Weltkriege und der Globalisierung

    How can customers cope with cognitive demands of professional services? The role of employee coping support

    Abstract Even though researchers are increasingly acknowledging the dark side of customer participation (i.e., behavioral customer engagement), particularly in professional services with high cognitive demands that cause customer participation stress (i.e., negative psychological state resulting from the customer's overextension by required customer participation efforts), insights on how firms can effectively mitigate customer participation stress remains limited. Building on transactional stress theory, we investigate whether customers can effectively cope with the expected cognitive demands of professional services. Moreover, by introducing an adapted coping construct (i.e., coping support), we examine whether employees can provide coping support to help decrease customer participation stress. The findings of a time‐lagged field study with customers of a large German bank (N = 117) suggest that customer coping before the encounter cannot mitigate the effect of anticipated cognitive demands on customer participation stress. Instead, the results of both the field study and a follow‐up experimental study (N = 218) show that a certain set of employee coping support during service encounters is crucial. While focusing on action coping support is not ideal in situations with high cognitive demands, firms should advise their professional service employees to offer emotional coping support to attenuate the unfavorable effect of cognitive demands on customer participation stress

    Untersuchung der Yosys Hardwaresynthese von der internen Datenstruktur RTLIL bis zur Netzliste

    Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Beantwortung der Frage "Wie funktioniert Synthese?". Yosys ist ein offenes Synthesewerkzeug, welches untersucht wurde, um diese Frage zu beantworten. Yosys implementiert eine Datenstruktur RTLIL, mit der ein Entwurf in allen Synthesephasen dargestellt wird. Yosys ist modular aufgebaut, was dem Nutzer ermöglicht, das Programm zu erweitern. Die Synthese in Yosys ist auf Pässe unterteilt, die jeweils eine bestimmte Aufgabe erfüllen. Im Rahmen der Arbeit wurde die Datenstruktur und die Passes im einzelnen analysiert. Es wurde auch untersucht, wie in Yosys Erweiterungen zu implementieren sind. Die Analyse hat gezeigt, dass ein wichtiger Teil der Synthese die Umwandlung von Prozessen in eine RTL-Beschreibung darstellt. Im Rahmen der Synthese werden die, von einem Frontend vorläufig erzeugten RTL-Komponenten, umgewandelt. Der letzte Schritt der Synthese ist das Technologiemapping, welches die umgewandelten Komponente auf die verwendete Hardware anpasst.The aim of this thesis is an answer to the question "How does synthesis work?". Yosys is an open synthesis tool that was analyzed to answer this question. Yosys implements a data structure RTLIL that is used to represent a design at all stages of synthesis. Yosys has a modular structure, which allows the user to expand the program. Synthesis in Yosys is divided into passes, each of which performs a specific task. As part of the thesis, the data structure and the passes were analyzed in detail. It was also examined how to implement extensions in Yosys. The analysis showed that an important part of the synthesis is the conversion of processes into RTL components. During the synthesis, the provisional RTL components generated by a frontend are converted. The last step of synthesis is technology mapping, which adapts the converted components to the used hardware

    Production of Retroviral Vectors in Continuous High Cell Density Culture

    Retroviral vectors derived from murine leukemia virus (MLV) are used in somatic gene therapy applications e.g. for genetic modification of hematopoietic stem cells. Recently, we reported on the establishment of a suspension viral packaging cell line (VPC) for the production of MLV vectors. Human embryonic kidney 293-F (HEK293-F) cells were genetically modified for this purpose using transposon vector technology. Here, we demonstrate the establishment of a continuous high cell density (HCD) process using this cell line. First, we compared different media regarding the maximum achievable viable cell concentration (VCC) in small scale. Next, we transferred this process to a stirred tank bioreactor before we applied intensification strategies. Specifically, we established a perfusion process using an alternating tangential flow filtration system. Here, VCCs up to 27.4E + 06 cells/mL and MLV vector titers up to 8.6E + 06 transducing units/mL were achieved. Finally, we established a continuous HCD process using a tubular membrane for cell retention and continuous viral vector harvesting. Here, the space-time yield was 18-fold higher compared to the respective batch cultivations. Overall, our results clearly demonstrate the feasibility of HCD cultivations for high yield production of viral vectors, especially when combined with continuous viral vector harvesting

    Determination of the Temperature-Dependent Resonance Behavior of Ultrasonic Transducers Using the Finite-Element Method

    Purpose Langevin transducers are ultrasonic transducers that convert electrical into mechanical energy through the piezoelectric effect. This class of transducers achieves the highest efficiency in their mechanical resonance. Studies have shown that the resonant frequency changes with temperature. The aim of this contribution is to reproduce this temperature-dependence resonance frequency as accurately as possible with FEM simulations. Methods Therefore, the temperature-dependent resonance behavior of Langevin transducers is examined experimentally. A FEM model is created on the basis of temperature-dependent measured material coefficients. Using parameter correlations and optimization algorithms, the FEM model is fitted and validated by experimental results. Six variants of Langevin transducers are examined in the range from 30 °C to 80 °C with resonance frequencies between 34 and 38 kHz. They differ in three geometries and two materials. Results The experimental results show that the resonance frequencies decrease with increasing temperatures by 5.0–19.4 Hz/°C, depending on the material and geometry. As decisive parameters for the model fitting of the FEM results, three function-dependent stiffness coefficients of the piezoelectric material PZT8 and the Young’s moduli of the metallic materials are determined by parameter correlation. Conclusion Through the targeted fitting of these function-dependent parameters, the calculation of the resonance frequencies of Langevin transducers can be qualitatively and quantitatively improved, independent of shape and material

    Platform Work as a Source of Satisfaction – Its Merits and Demerits in the Opinion of Poles

    Goal – the article aims to identify the characteristics of platform work (PW) as a potential source of satisfaction, based on the opinions of adult Poles. It draws on the approaches to job satisfaction derived from neoclassical economics and psychological concepts of work. Research methodology – the characteristics of PW were compiled through the review of extant literature. The opinions were collected in a diagnostic survey using an online questionnaire filled and returned by a representative sample of 3165 Poles. The survey identified a group declaring to have the knowledge of platform-mediated work opportunities, which ultimately contained 2099 respondents. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this was the first survey in Poland on the perception of the characteristics of work mediated through digital platforms conducted on such a large scale. Score/results – the study showed that major benefits of PW relate to contractor autonomy and concern the freedom of choice when and how long to work. The most frequently identified demerit, on the other hand, concerns work remuneration and it is the instability of income.
